Best Bet of the Day:

Greyhound: #8 Starline Express
Odds: $2.00
Race: Warrnambool, Race 8 [7:52pm AEST]
Trainer: David Geall
Form: 14157

Why it's our pick: Today, I'm putting my money on #8 Starline Express to WIN at $2.00. This lad's latest run might not have been his best – finishing last in a Special conditions H over 460m at Warragul on January 5th – but don't be fooled. Despite trailing Pass The Buck by 9 lengths with a time of 26.17, I'm confident Starline Express is set to bounce right back. He's an all-star sprinter, and his ideal draw for this race puts him in a prime position. It looks like his race to lose. The odds are in his favour, and I believe Starline Express is a solid bet for a strong comeback. Hard to beat, he's got all the makings of a winner today!

Next Best Bet of the Day:

Greyhound: #8 Maximum Smiles
Odds: $2.00
Race: Angle Park, Race 7 [9:01pm AEST]
Trainer: Ashlee Griffiths
Form: 113541

Why it's our pick: I'm backing #8 Maximum Smiles to WIN at $2.00 as my next best bet for the day. Last week, he was an absolute certainty, winning effortlessly from the inside draw over the middle distance. Sure, the drop back in trip this time around isn't ideal, and he's got a tough draw tonight. But let's not overlook his last start – it was a cracker of a win as the odds-on favourite. Maximum Smiles blitzed the field by 3.5 lengths over 595m right here at this track, clocking a nifty 34.51 and leaving Information trailing in his wake. The most impressive part? That win was the quickest time on the card! And so, with form like that, I reckon it's worth sticking with him. He's shown he's got the chops, and I'm betting he'll pull through again tonight!

Roughie Bet of the Day:

Greyhound: #2 Gylos Move
Odds: $7.50 | $2.05
Race: Warragul, Race 6 [4:32pm AEST]
Trainer: Stavros Kipirtidis
Form: 76163

Why it's our pick: For my 'roughie bet of the day,' I'm throwing my support behind #2 Gylos Move Each Way at $7.50/$2.05. Last time out, she grabbed a solid third in a Grade 5 race on January 7 over 515m at Sandown, finishing 6 lengths behind Aussie Karen with a time of 30.87. Don't let that result fool you, though. Gylos Move is a speedy girl, and I've got a hunch she's going to give her competitors a real run for their money today. She's been racing well recently, showing off her early speed, which could be a key advantage in this matchup. At these odds, I reckon she's a bit of an overlooked gem and definitely worth keeping safe in your bets!

Bonus Best Pick for the Day:

Greyhound: #1 Ruby And Rice
Odds: $2.70
Race: Hobart, Race 8 [9:50pm AEST]
Trainer: Michael Sherriff
Form: 111212

Why it's our pick: For my 'bonus best pick of the day,' I'm backing #1 Ruby And Rice with odds of $2.70 for the win. Sure, she finished in the minors last time, but let's not forget her performance just before that. She was an absolute standout, dominating the field in a Grade 5 at this very track. Scoring by an impressive 6 lengths and clocking a lightning-fast 19.15 over the 340m trip, she showcased her top form. That win wasn't just a fluke; it was a statement. And so, with that in mind, based on her performance two starts back, Ruby And Rice seems like the clear favourite in today's race. I believe she has what it takes to be at the top of the podium again, making her another one of my top choices for today!

Bonus Next Best Pick for the Day:

Greyhound: #8 Fly High Bet
Odds: $2.60
Race: Hobart, Race 1 [7:46pm AEST]
Trainer: Edward Medhurst
Form: 11421

Why it's our pick: My 'bonus next best pick of the day' is set on #8 Fly High Bet to WIN at $2.60. And let me tell you, her last performance here was something special! She clinched victory by half a length over 461m, clocking in at 26.21 and edging out Sweet Sundown in a Grade 6 race on January 4th. There was a lot of buzz around her then, and she lived up to every bit of it. With such a strong showing last start, I'm quite bullish about sticking with her. Fly High Bet has the form, the speed, and the recent results to back up my confidence. She's definitely the one to watch in today's lineup!

The Winning Formula – Picking Your Greyhound:

Ready to get the inside track on greyhound betting? Let's dig into the key factors and strategies that can turn a guess into an educated bet. Welcome to the art of picking a winning greyhound!

  • Form: When you're sizing up a Greyhound, one of the first things you should look at is its form. Has the dog been tearing up the track recently, or has it been more of a tail-ender? Recent form can give you a solid indication of a Greyhound's current capabilities.
  • Class: Class refers to the level at which a Greyhound has been competing. A jump in class can mean stiffer competition, while a drop can provide a confidence boost to our four-legged friend.
  • Speed: In Greyhound racing, speed can make all the difference. Pay attention to a dog's sectional times and overall race times to gauge its speed. The fastest dogs are usually the ones crossing the finish line first!
  • Track Bias: Every track has its quirks. Some dogs might perform better on certain tracks due to their running style, track conditions, or weather on race day. So, keep an eye on the track!
  • Race History: How has the dog performed in past races? Has it consistently been a strong contender, or does it have a mixed bag of results? A dog's race history can provide insights into its potential future performance.
  • Betting Odds: The odds reflect the public's opinion of a Greyhound's chances. Lower odds indicate a favourite, while higher odds suggest an underdog. However, don't just follow the crowd - look for value bets where you believe a dog has a better chance than the odds imply!
  • Finding the Value Bets: It's all about comparing your assessment of a Greyhound's chances to the odds on offer. If you believe the odds are higher than they should be based on your evaluation, you've potentially found a value bet.

To bring this all together, let's take a gander at an example. Say we have a Greyhound named 'Thunder Bolt', with a recent form of 1123, showing consistency. He's dropping in class, his sectional times are among the fastest, and he's previously performed well at the upcoming track. His race history is impressive, and the odds on offer for a win are generous. Here, based on our strategy, 'Thunder Bolt' appears to be a strong pick, and a possible value bet.

And always remember, there are no guarantees in betting, but understanding these factors can significantly boost your chances. Happy punting, mate!
