EPL 2023 Matchweek 36

With just three gameweeks remaining this season, the Premier League clock is ticking for clubs at both ends of the table. Manchester United are showing a late drop-off, which is looking to jeopardise their chance at Champions League football. Whilst Everton, Nottingham Forest, Leicester, and Leeds all are desperate to pick up desperate points as to avoid relegation and humiliation this season. Chelsea and Spurs meanwhile can smile for the first team in weeks after they both collected 3 points last weekend. That being said… There is much to play for this coming weekend, and with just a couple weeks remaining, the stakes seem larger than ever for some clubs heading into this weekend.  Tune into the best betting sites for some exciting betting opportunities!

Matchweek X Fixtures

Leeds Vs Newcastle

Saturday 13th May, 21:30, Elland Road

The Peacocks host the high-flying, 3rd place, Northerners at Elland Road, kicking off Gameweek 36’ action. Leeds currently sits dangerously close to the relegation zone, helped only by a better goal difference (-25) to 17th place Nottingham Forest’s (-32). However, Big Sam has returned to the Premier League and started off well, ensuring that they kept City on edge in a narrow 2-1 defeat at the Etihad last weekend. On the other hand, Newcastle who have been nothing but superb all season, showed some vulnerability last weekend when they were defeated 2-0 at St. James Park to a strong Arsenal side. Expect an incredibly dramatic fixture here at Elland Road, as Leeds look to avoid relegation against a top 4 contender in Newcastle.

Leeds United XI – Mealier (GK), Ayling, Koch, Strujik, Firpo, McKennie, Roca, Sinisterra, Harrison, Aaronson, Rodrigo

Newcastle XI – Pope (GK), Trippier, Schär, Botman, Burn, Longstaff, Guimarães, Willock, Murphy, Isak, Joelinton

Southampton Vs Fulham

Sunday 14th May 00:00, St. Mary’s Stadium

Bottom of the table Southampton hosts midtable Fulham in quite a mediocre fixture here on the South Coast this weekend. Recent losses to the likes of Newcastle, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have cemented the Saints Championship spot next season, and with nothing to play for here, it’s difficult to see a result coming their way in this fixture. Fulham come to St. Mary’s on the back of some difficult fixtures and results against the likes of league leaders Manchester City and an overperforming Villa outfit. Fulham sit smack bang in the middle of the table in 10th position, right in front of West London rivals Chelsea, and that may be the only stipulation to a hard-fought match from the Cottagers here. Fulham seems to be the smart play here, with the betting agencies showing some nice value in this fixture.

Fulham XI – Leno (GK), Tete, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson, Reed, Palhinha, Cordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian, Vinicius

Chelsea Vs Nottingham Forest

Sunday 14th May 00:00, Stamford Bridge

It’s just about time Chelsea come into a fixture with a win over the shoulders, and that’s what they do here after taking out Bournemouth in an exciting 3-1 victory at The Vitality Stadium last weekend. A convincing win coming back to Stamford Bridge has been hard to come by for the Blues this season, with their last league win all the way back on the 12th of March against Leicester. With something to finally smile about and just a little bit of momentum, this Forest side will need to give everything if they are to nick some very needed points and avoid relegation. However, it couldn’t have come at a worst time to face Chelsea, and this will be nothing short of an uphill climb for the visitors at Stamford Bridge this weekend. I like BTTS on Bet365 (odds shown below).

Nottingham Forest XI – Navas (GK), Felipe, Niakhaté, McKenna, Williams, Freuler, Danilo, Lodi, Gibbs-White, Awoniyi, Johnson

Aston Villa Vs Tottenham Hotspur

Sunday 14th May 00:00, Villa Park

Aston Villa host the unglamorous Spurs at Villa Park this weekend, in what should be a tightly contested matchup. Unai Emery’s men have started to slowly show weakness coming up to the end of this Premier League season and may feel a little more vulnerable now than they did just a month ago. Spurs on the other hand can finally celebrate a victory after taking down a reinvigorated Crystal Palace side under Premier League veteran Roy Hodgson. Spurs escaped with a narrow 1-0 victory, of course Talisman Harry Kane coming to the rescue for the North Londoners once again. With just 3 points separating these two sides, both teams will be rearing to take home all 3 points here at Villa Park, in what should be a hotly contested bout, with both teams chasing European Spots. TopSport seems the bookie to go with here with U2.5 Goals @$2.09

Manchester United Vs Wolverhampton

Sunday 14th May 00:00, Old Trafford

The Red Devils Host Wolves at Old Trafford in what is a must win fixture for Man United if they are to retain their Champions League spot. Who would have thought that just a few weeks ago, Man United would be in major doubt for Champions League football. Alas, after embarrassing defeats to both Brighton and West Ham, Manchester rivals Liverpool sit closely behind them in 5th spot. Manchester United on paper seem to have relatively easy fixtures remaining, with the first task taking on a 13th place Wolves side, with not much to play for. Manchester United should be winning this emphatically, but Wolves are off a 1-0 win to a strong Villa side, so all outcomes are in the question.

Crystal Palace Vs Bournemouth

Sunday 14th May 00:00, Selhurst Park

The Eagles host the Cherries at Selhurst Park in an insignificant fixture with both clubs safely placed for a Premier League return next season. With both clubs coming into this matchup on the back of defeats to Tottenham and Chelsea respectively, do not expect this to be a riveting, edge of your seat fixture. Rather, a low scoring fixture where either team may nick a goal and steal all 3 points cheaply. The silver lining for Bournemouth is that with Manchester United still to play, they may have this matchup marked on their calendar as potentially their last 3-point opportunity of the season, whilst Palace have Fulham and Nottingham Forest still to play. Go TopSport here with the unders showing some nice value.

Everton Vs Manchester City

Sunday 14th May 23:00, Goodison Park

Poor Everton will host the league leaders Manchester City in what should be a high scoring fixture. With Everton sitting in 19th place and looking down towards the Championship, you couldn’t pick a worse match up for them than the most inform team in Europe in Manchester City. Whilst Big Sam’s Leeds kept the Citizens relatively quiet at home in a strangely surprising 2-1 defeat against the league leaders, this Everton team looks nothing short of defeated and doomed for relegation. This Everton team have been nothing but disjointed, despite Sean Dyche’s take over as manager, and despite Dyche’ cult worthy Premier League status, expect many Manchester City goal here at Goodison Park this weekend. There seems to be value all over for this fixture, so check out all the best football betting sites to find the best tips.

Brentford Vs West Ham

Sunday 14th May 23:00, Brentford Community Stadium

The Bees host the Hammers in this midtable bout come Sunday evening. Thomas Frank’s men have been nothing shy of brilliant this season, currently placed in 9th and off recent wins to the likes of Nottingham Forest and Chelsea alike, despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. West Ham certainly don’t have as much to scream home about, but David Moyes’ men did take down top 4 contender Manchester United 1-0 last weekend, which is just a little momentum boost they may need to take down this Brentford side on the road. Nonetheless, with Tottenham and Manchester City still to phase, Brentford will certainly be black marking this fixture as an opportunity at what might be a shot at their final 3 points of the season.

Arsenal Vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Monday 15th May 01:30, Emirates

The Gunners play home against the Seagulls in what is anticipated as the best matchup of gameweek 36. 2nd place Arsenal welcome Brighton to North London on the back of a fantastic results against 3rd place Newcastle 2-0 on the road at St. James Park, nonetheless. As it stands, Arsenal still sits 1 point behind league leaders Manchester City and although many have ruled them out, they still sit nice and cosy on Manchester City’s shoulders, and whilst it may not be up to them, they can only win what is in front of them. Brighton on the other hand is the talk of the town this season under manager De Zerbi, and you should expect nothing less than an enthusiastic push for all 3 points here at the Emirates for the South Coast side. PlayUp Overs markets are selling some nice value for this exciting matchup.

Leicester Vs Liverpool

Tuesday 16th May 05:00, King Power Stadium

The Foxes host Liverpool in what may be a season defining matchup for both clubs. Leicester is potentially on the verge of a shock relegation as they currently sit in 16th place, tied on points with 17th and 18th. Anything either than at least 1 point here could prove detrimental to the Foxes’ survival. Meanwhile, on the other end of the table, Liverpool sits just 1 point behind 4th place Manchester United and with the Red Devils experiencing some end of the season hiccups, this fixture proves the perfect opportunity for Liverpool to shock the league with a top 4 resurgence in the dying moments of this 2022/2023 season. Expect this game to be nothing short of exhilarating and a great way to close out Gameweek 36.
