Can Julen Lopetegui keep the West Ham fans happy?

Few positions in the Premier League are as hotly discussed as the West Ham manager’s job and David Moyes’s second stay at the London Olympic Stadium has come to an end. 
 
The Scot will be relieved of his duties at the end of the campaign, with just games against Luton Town and Manchester City to come. 
 
Spaniard Julen Lopetegui looks set to replace Moyes at West Ham, as the kingmakers at the club chase a change in footballing identity. 

Victim of his own success 

West Ham United have spent big over the past few seasons, but in winning the Europa Conference League in 2023, they certainly punched above their weight. 
 
Winning a European trophy was well beyond the remit of David Moyes and he and his West Ham side have struggled to back it up this season. 
 
The Hammers sit 9th in the table, hardly a poor return but the expectation is there for West Ham and their fans currently and they were seen as a side that could crack the European places this season with many punters and EPL betting sites. 

Missing the Rice 

Perhaps a forgotten element of West Ham’s success last season was midfield playmaker Declan Rice, who made a huge money move to Arsenal in the summer of 2023. 
 
Rice has had a huge influence on proceedings at the Emirates, but he remains missed at the London Olympic Stadium. 
 
David Moyes has looked to plug Rice’s gap with James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips, but the Hammers are clearly lacking his influence in midfield. 
 
Lauding over Lopetegui 

The impact that David Moyes has had over his second spell at West Ham has been a huge one but Julen Lopetegui will be the man in charge next season, a decision that has intrigued many punters and EPL betting sites. 
 
During his time at Wolves, Lopetegui had a big impact on all aspects of the club and the Spaniard will be out to perform a similar job here in East London. 
 
With a reputation for playing good football and getting results, Lopetegui certainly looks to be a good fit for West Ham and the former Spain manager will be out to propel his new side up the Premier League table next season
