Race 4: Gloaming Stakes

There are plenty of high-quality offerings at Royal Randwick on Saturday and perhaps one of the overlooked contests is the Gloaming Stakes in race 4. A group 3 contest ran over 1800m, the hefty A$500,000 prize pot is indicative of the strong status of the race.

Gloaming Stakes

By the time race 4 rolls around, punters and betting apps alike will be getting used to conditions at Royal Randwick on Saturday and there should be plenty in the mix for this one.

Topping the betting is the prolific Tom Kitten, a horse that seems to have been around for ages, despite only being 3 years old. Having placed narrowly in its last three outings, Tom Kitten looks primed and ready to go in this one and it should enjoy the longer 1800m trip, making it the justified favourite here at $2.50 with Playup.

The strength of the field is epitomised by the next horse in the betting, with Snowball looking to fulfil bags of potential here. The Chris Waller 3-year-old won over this distance at Rosehill Gardens just a fortnight ago and is clearly made for contests such as this. Coming in at $5.50 with Bet365, Snowball should be firmly in the mix here.

A plethora of inexperienced horses find themselves in contention too for the Gloaming Stakes in 2023, with both Pushy and Ganbare catching the eye in recent victories. Both horses have pace to burn and could find themselves in contention at $6.00 and $7.50 respectively with Punterspal

Race 7: The Everest

The most lucrative race on the planet takes place in race 7, with the 12 fastest horses in Australia going at it for a shot at glory.

Ran over 1200m, the contest is often over in the blink of an eye but with a A$700,000 entry fee and a $20 million prize pot, the stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday are huge.

Despite being relatively new on the calendar, The Everest sees millions of dollars laid down every year and there should be plenty of movements in the betting ahead of Saturday with old and new betting sites alike.

The Everest

Speed is key in The Everest and there are some of the fastest horses on the planet lining up for the 1200m dash at Royal Randwick on Saturday. In addition to the need for speed, the running draw is also important, with some jockeys preferring a central berth and others opting for rail run – another hurdle for punters and Aussie bookmakers to overcome.

Topping the betting is Think About It, the most prolific performer in the field and undoubtedly one of the quickest horses around. A staggering 91% career winning record from 11 races contested speaks for itself and it is a horse that looks to have a freakish turn of speed.

Competition in this one will be more notable than it has been in some recent contests but Think About It is the rightful favourite for The 2023 Everest at $4.50 with Punterspal

A similar tale can be told about I Wish I Win, another huge winner throughout an illustrious career and The Everest does look to be the natural fit in terms of race profile. With Luke Nolen on board, I Wish I Win will be a contender that is for sure but recent performances have cast the smallest cloud of doubt over the Kiwi speedster ahead of this contest, but it absolutely cannot be ruled out at $5.50 with Playup.

Picking up hints and vibes off the rest of the field is not an easy things to do, with so many quality operators chasing glory and the huge prize pot available in The Everest. Hawaii Five Oh has been cherry picked by the notorious Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for this one, whilst In Secret has the prolific Zac Purton on board for James Cummings.
Claims can be made for both and they should be in and amongst it at $11.00 apiece with Bet365.

Race 9: King Charles III Stakes

The big races keep piling in at Royal Randwick on Saturday, with the King Charles III Stakes generating plenty of attention following on from The Everest.

A substantial A$5 million is the prize pool for this contest, with has Group 1 status and houses some high calibre horses, owners,

Raced over 1600m, the middle-distance contest should keep punters and bookmakers engaged throughout and there are plenty of strong candidates for King Charles III Stakes glory.

King Charles III Stakes

Topping the betting in this one, as it has done for a myriad of races this season is Mr Brightside, arguably the most prolific performer across the Australian racing scene in 2023 so far.

Enjoying a winning streak of 5 races, Mr Brightside is the clear big draw in this race and connections will be eager to see another convincing performance here at $2.30 with Bet365.

Chris Waller will be hoping to have another day in the sun at Royal Randwick and Fangirl will be out to provide just that for him. A proven performer at this level, Fangirl does historically enjoy both course and distance at Royal Randwick and could trouble the placings at least at $7.50 with Playup.

European hopes make up the next big shouts in the betting, with Zaaki from the UK and Light Infantry Man from France primed and ready for this 1600m contest. Ascertaining how they will adapt to life at Royal Randwick is no easy task but at they are both in with a shot at $9.00 and $10.00 respectively with Punterspal.
