Saturday Racing Tips - Caulfield 06/04/24

Caulfield will have the eyes of the Australian horse racing fraternity upon it on Saturday 6th April.

With so many high quality races on the card at Caulfield this weekend, it is not easy to pick a race that will yield the best returns but the 7th offering of the day is a contest that should offer something for all punters and Aussie bookmakers. 

With 200k in the prize pool, there is plenty to battle it out for here and it should be a race ran at a good tempo. 
 
Elvis Thurgood Stakes 

Progressing from being a flying 3-year-old, to a reputable stayer is one of the toughest transitions in horse racing and a whole batch of 3-year-old prospects will be going at it here, over the intriguing distance of 2400m. 

Topping the betting is Apulia, a prolific operator for the Hayes clan who continues to search for big race wins in every appearance. Whilst 2024 performances have been a little underwhelming, Apulia is the horse with the most calibre in this one and it will take some beating at $3.50 with Playup. 

Kiwi representation is up next in the betting, with Antrim Coast looking like a serious threat to Apulia. With a 25%-win record and two impressive runs in its last two outings, punters are wary of the presence of Antrim Coast in this one. It will be a closely run thing and Antrim Coast is one to keep an eye on at $3.60 with Bet365. 

Next up in the betting is Sunsets, a very bright prospect who just can’t seem to find the correct distances, with Into You also a strong contender and both can be backed at decent prices of $4.00 and $10.00 respectively with Punterspal.  

The Group 3 Victoria Handicap is up next at Caulfield, with another star line up assembled. Another A$200k is up for grabs here and this should be a speedy contest over 1400m, which will attract plenty of attention from both old and new betting sites alike.

Whilst there is plenty of belting races on the card, the Victoria Handicap is arguably the headline offering and it should be a superb battle, which will pique the interest of both punters and Aussie bookmakers. 

Topping the betting is Kiwi flyer Globe, one of the most exciting prospects in Australian horse racing at the moment and with 4 wins from 5 races, connections will be hoping this is another W in the column. It won’t be easy for Globe, but it is the most prolific horse on the card, and it is the one to beat here at $3.10 with Punterspal.  

In behind in the betting is American superstar Buffalo River, a very experienced horse who is always capable of turning on the style in a race such as this. Only two wins from the last 10 starts will give backers an element of caution but Buffalo River is a class act, who should be in contention here at $4.00 with Playup. 

The big names are lining up in behind, with Here to Shock and Attrition two obvious candidates and with this set to be a close run thing, both horses have realistic shots here at $7.00 and $7.50 respectively with Bet365. 

The Easter Cup is the penultimate race of the day at Caulfield, and it should be a fantastic battle, between some very exciting horses. Prize money and prestige are up for grabs here and every horse and stable in the field will be confident of producing a performance that could win them the Easter Cup.

A real smorgasbord of horses are in contention here for the Easter Cup, with big names and up and coming firecrackers going at it in equal measure. 

Topping the betting is First Immoral, a horse that has been in fine form over the past few seasons and who looks well suited to conditions here at Caulfield and it looks to be the one to beat at $3.00 with Bet365. 

French flyer Carini is in behind in a congested betting market and this looks to be the type of race that should suit her. Conditions and the trip are a good mix and consequently, Carini could be one to get on board with here at $5.00 with Playup. 

Elsewhere, the likes of Jennilala and Berkeley Square could both pose serious threats, at very good prices and they may worth be at least an each way punt at $6.50 and $8.50 respectively with Punterspal.
