Big names generate interest at IPL auction

News Insights

  • BBL 13 is very much underway in Australia.
  • T20 franchise tournaments come thick and fast, with the IPL up next.
  • The Indian Premier League has big money auction system to select teams.
  • Big-name Australian players generating plenty of big money bids.

Big money T20 competitions always create plenty of traction with many online betting sites and the BBL remains in full flow.

Attention naturally however turns to the next big events on the cricketing calendar and IPL auction has lined the pockets of many big-name Australian cricketers.

Star quality Starc

When it comes to fast bowling in the modern age, few cricketers are as versatile as Mitchell Starc.

The left arm quick is a threat across all three formats for Australia and his ability to put the opposition under pressure gives him an X factor.

Having plied his trade in the Indian Premier League for the best part of a decade, all of the franchises know what they are getting from Mitchell Starc – making his acquisition big business.

For a record fee of almost $3 million US dollars, Starc will team up with the Kolkata Knight Riders, for what he hopes is another successful IPL campaign.

Cummins the main attraction

Ever since Pat Cummins took over the captaincy across all three formats for Australia, the fortunes for the nation have improved hugely.

A cool head, in the most hostile of situations, Pat Cummins is the man for all occasions and his availability in the 2024 Indian Premier League caused a real stir.

Joining Sunrisers Hyderabad for $2.8 US dollars, Cummins remains one of the biggest draws in world cricket and his presence in Hyderabad has generated plenty of traction with cricket betting apps

Other big names on the move

Having reigned supreme in the ICC 50-over World Cup in India recently, many betting apps backed the big-name Australia players to feature heavily in the 2024 IPL auction.

Travis Head was the star of the show in the World Cup final and he too has been snapped up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for just shy of $1 million.

Elsewhere, pace bowler Spencer Johnson made a big impact in the BBL over the past 12 months and he is lining up to play for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL in 2024.
