You know what you are getting with TopSport, they provide a reliable and quick service for punters. They offer high betting limits and are not known for banning winning punters like some of the others in the industry are known to do. They have been around for a while and have certainly been able to pick up a thing or two along the way.

It doesn’t matter if you're a casual or serious punter, TopSport has something for everyone. Their range of markets and competitive odds are a major drawcard. On the flip side, it would be good to see them add live streaming and some more withdrawal methods to their product. If you’re thinking of signing up with a new bookie, you should for sure consider TopSport.

Katherine Mouradian
By:Katherine Mouradian

When it comes to TopSport reviews, can you really go past MyBettingAustralia? I have combed over TopSport for hours, learning everything I need to know about this bookie. Bringing you first-hand experience, I’ll provide you with my thoughts on TopSport.

TopSport is one of the most established bookies in the market and has a great offering for their customers. They have developed a few key features that have allowed them to carve out a slice of the Australian betting market. Keep reading to see what I think and what you can expect when signing up for TopSport.

About TopSport

While there are new betting sites popping up all the time, TopSport is one of the more established bookies in the market, being around since 1998. They know how to treat punters well, which I think is why they’ve been able to stay in business for so long. I’ve found that they don’t ban winning punters, which is something that cannot be said about a lot of the others in the industry.

They also have high betting limits, so if you are the kind of person who wants to splash some cash, TopSport is ideal. TopSport betting is a breeze and there are so many different markets available for you to choose from. They are known for their range of sports. If it's a sport, it’s likely to be on TopSport.

Not only do they offer a range of markets, but their odds are also pretty competitive. Their website and app are user-friendly, so it’s pretty easy for you to get around. The customer support team is reachable via many different outlets, so no matter your preferred form of communication, they’ve got you sorted.

All in all, I think TopSport is a great place to bet. They may not be one of the few international betting sites in Australia, but they have a large offering, something that the new or small betting sites just don’t have. If you’re a professional punter or have a larger bankroll, TopSport should be one of the top betting sites you consider.

The payout speed at TopSport isn’t really anything to write home about and is quite standard in the industry.

TopSport Review Pros & Cons + Verdict

TopSport is one of the more established bookies in Australia and thanks to that, they have a wide offering on sports and racing. No bookie is going to be perfect though, even the most popular betting sites have areas for improvement.

So, after going through TopSport, I’ve found some of the biggest pros and cons. They are certainly one of the best betting sites, but you have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself to decide if TopSport is the perfect bookie for you.

TopSport Strengths

The most important pros of TopSport that you need to know are:

  • High betting limits - This is one of the advantages of TopSport. If you are one to splash a lot of cash, TopSport has high betting limits.
  • Wide range of sports markets - As the name would suggest, TopSport offers a massive range of sports markets. I would even consider them one of the best esports betting sites around.
  • User-friendly website and app - Navigating your way around their website and/ or app is easy. The design and layout of both platforms have clearly been well thought out.
  • Don’t ban winning customers - While some other bookies are quick to ban winning customers, this isn’t something TopSport is known for.
  • Live betting - You can place bets on live markets across a range of different sports. To place a live bet, you must call their dedicated phone number.

TopSport Weaknesses

The most important cons of TopSport that you need to know are:

  • Markets take longer to go up - If you are the type of punter who likes to get their bets sorted quickly, you’ll find that TopSport takes its time when getting their markets up.
  • No live streaming - Live streaming isn’t currently available, meaning you’ll need to find other ways to watch your favourite events.
  • Not as many promotions as others - While there is a decent enough range of promotions available, when compared to some of the other major players in the industry, TopSport isn’t on the same level.

TopSport Verdict

While I’m not a high-limit punter, so a couple of the pros don’t really impact me, I still believe TopSport is a great place to bet. There are many different methods you can get in touch with customer support and you can bet on sports live.

The range of sports and markets for each sport they offer is great and you’re likely to find exactly what you’re looking for. They have a solid range of promotions available for punters to get more bang for their buck. Markets can sometimes take a bit longer to get up, but if that’s not going to impact you much, TopSport is a great option.

TopSport Features

TopSport has a lot of different features on its platform, some are certainly bigger than others. Your betting experience is made easy with a lot of the features they’ve brought in. I’ve nailed down the four best TopSports betting features that you can find below.

Live Betting

I love that TopSport allows punters to bet live. Over the last couple of years, I’ve noticed just how popular live betting has become and it adds another level of excitement to watching the game. They don’t have a huge range of sports on offer for live betting, but there’s certainly enough there to wet your whistle.

Only a few Australian bookies offer live betting as a product. Live betting is quite resource-heavy as it requires punters to call a phone number to place their bets. I will discuss more about TopSport’s live betting offering later on in this review.

High Betting Limits

One for the big bettors out there! TopSport is known to offer high betting limits on events. All bookies will have a limit in place, to limit the amount of risk they take on. TopSport AU is certainly at the higher end, which should greatly appeal to big bettors.

So, if you like to splash your cash, then TopSport is going to be a great bookie for you. Many punters have commented over the years about the high betting limits available at TopSport. On top of this, they aren’t known to ban or restrict winning punters, which can be a problem with some other bookies.

Range of Sports Markets

TopSport is right up there with the top bookies who offer the most amount of sports markets. They have a wide offering in terms of the number of sports along with the amount of specific markets available for each event. For example, for an NRL game there are almost 200 NRL betting markets, so I would say they are one of the best NRL betting sites around.

The range of sports available is incredible as well. From the main sports that capture the attention of most Aussies to the more obscure sports, TopSport has you covered. I would say TopSport is right up there with the amount of markets available, so it would surprise me if you could find a market that they didn’t offer.

Customer Service Methods

There are many different ways you can get in touch with TopSport’s customer service team. Some of the New Betting Sites only have one or two options available, but not TopSport, which has been around since 1998!

You can get in touch with TopSport via:

  • Phone
  • Live Chat
  • Email
  • Mail

It’s great to see so many methods available for TopSport customers to take advantage of, however, they would benefit from offering a 24/7 service. At the moment, their live chat function is only available from 9am to 5pm (Monday to Saturday). We all know that issues don’t always wait until a convenient time arises!

horse-racing-betting-apps

TopSport Racing Offering

While their name might be “TopSport”, their racing offering is among some of the best going around and is beneficial for both casual and experienced racing punters alike. One of the things that stands out the most is the upcoming races, which are featured on the home page.

TopSport offers a wide range of markets across all three racing codes, both domestically and internationally. Once you are on their racing page, it is easy to filter to the racing code you are after and this is recommended as the page can be quite overwhelming with all the races displayed.

They do offer a solid range of futures markets and this includes Australia and international events, which isn’t something that all other bookies offer. Their futures markets also cover the three racing codes and this is one of the main reasons I think TopSport is becoming one of the great greyhound betting sites.

In terms of the range of markets available for each event, you see your typical win/ place, exotics and they also offer best tote. When checking them out, I couldn’t see any special markets like “Price Push Double”, for example, so some of the other major bookies offer.

TopSport displays quick horse racing tips for each race, which is good for those who are looking for a little bit of guidance. On top of this, TopSport’s form guide is as detailed as they come. Clicking the “Form Guide” button opens a pop-up and you can view runner remarks, career stats, recent stats, fluctuations and more.

I’ll discuss this in further detail later on in this review, but the odds available for racing at TopSport tend to be on par. In terms of their racing promotions, they have a good enough range, but others do offer a more comprehensive approach.

topsport racing.png

Overall, TopSport’s racing offering is among the best in the industry. While they don't offer live streaming, they do have other key features like heaps of futures markets, extensive form guide details and quick horse racing tips as well.

betting-markets

TopSport Sports Offering

If you’re into your sports, TopSport is a great place to bet, they offer almost the complete package which should keep almost every punter happy. On their home page, you can toggle to sports events, which will showcase the live events and then the upcoming events.

On the right-hand side, you can easily view all the upcoming matches, while the left-hand side menu features some of the most popular upcoming events. Their specific sports page offers a similar layout to what you see on the home page, so it’s pretty easy to find what you’re looking for.

As is the case with their racing offering, TopSport has a decent range of sports-related futures, including for the NRL, AFL and more. For this reason, I would consider TopSport to be one of the best AFL betting sites going around.

They cover many tournaments within each sport as well, so if you’re looking for new tennis betting sites or NBA betting sites, you should definitely check out TopSport. The range of markets available for each specific event is comprehensive, especially for the NRL and the AFL.

When comparing TopSport’s sports odds, they were usually on par with others for head-to-head markets. For the other markets, TopSport usually does have slightly better odds, or they are on par. Odds are an easy way to get more bang for your buck and I’ll discuss the quality of odds on offer later in this review.

At this stage, it doesn’t seem as though TopSport offers any sports tips. Some of their main competitors offer quick tips and insights that can be helpful for punters when making a decision. Adding in tips like NRL tips, AFL tips, EPL tips and NBA tips, for example, could help take them to another level.

odds

TopSport Odds

The odds offered by a bookie are probably one of the most important aspects. Even though bookies offer odds on the same markets, you’ll likely find different odds. While the difference might only be minor, in the long term it can really add up.

Finding the best odds is a good way to get more value for money and therefore it should be a major consideration when on the hunt for a new bookie to sign up with. These days, there are plenty of odds comparison tools and this can help make the job of finding the most competitive odds a lot easier.

TopSport has come a long way in a short time in terms of their odds and I now believe they have some of the best odds going around. It is important to remember that every market is different though, so it can still pay to shop around from time to time. I found they offer great odds, especially for sport, but their racing odds are also pretty good.

They have boosted odds markets for sport, which has ensured they get the attention they deserve in this respect. TopSport also offers best tote for racing, which is something a lot of the bigger players do, but I think that makes them one of the top horse racing betting sites as well.

I found that most of the time TopSport was on par with what some of the other major players in the game are offering. This is a good start as it generally means you aren’t missing out on any value by betting with TopSport.

As always, there can be little nuggets of gold with TopSport odds where they offer something very enticing. I would consider TopSport’s odds to be good enough to add them to your list of bookies to check before you place any bets, especially if you bet big or tend to bet on the upset.

TopSport Australia Markets & Bet Types

Markets is another area that is important to investigate when putting together a bookie review. For my TopSport bookie review, I found that they have a competitive offering in terms of sports and racing markets. They cover a wide range of sports and offer heaps of markets for each event.

All the typical markets you’ll be able to find with TopSport, like head-to-head, handicap, half/ quarter time markets, total, player props, futures and more. They also offer multis, which allow you to add more than one bet together, for higher odds. I think TopSport is up there with the biggest players in the industry when it comes to their market offering.

The main sports that Aussies know and love, like the AFL and NRL for example, tend to feature the most range of markets. While other sports, like the NBA, don’t usually have as many markets available. TopSport still does offer all the most common markets and caters towards the bulk of punters in Australia.

They offer markets on all three racing codes, including; horse racing betting, greyhound betting and harness racing betting. You’ll find the typical win/ place markets as well as the exotics markets available for those looking for something a little different.

One of the things that ensures TopSport stands out from the crowd is its range of futures markets available for racing events. They offer futures markets across all three racing codes and this covers both domestic and international events. Futures markets are a great place to bet if you’re looking for extra value.

On top of this, they offer sports markets for the many events that take place throughout the year; including:

  • American Football
  • Athletics
  • AFL
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Ice Hockey
  • Motor Racing
  • Netball
  • NRL
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • Soccer
  • Surfing
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball

Betting markets available with TopSport:

  • Exotic markets
  • Margin markets
  • Handicap markets
  • Win/Place markets
  • Head-to-Head markets
  • Player Prop markets
  • Over/Under markets
  • First to Score markets
  • Correct Score markets
  • Points/Goals/Score markets
  • Quarter/Half/Innings markets
  • Futures markets

Bet types available with TopSport:

  • Single bets
  • Multi bets (same game multis and same race multis)

TopSport Live Betting

I mentioned this briefly in the “Features” section of this review, but I thought it was major enough to warrant its own section! Live betting is becoming a more readily available feature that Australian betting sites offer. However, at this stage, I would say that more bookies don’t offer live betting compared to those that do.

Live betting is usually available for sports-related events, which is the case at TopSport. To see which sports and events are currently available for you to bet on live, head to the “In-Play” page. There, you’ll be shown all the options and if you click on a particular event, there will be a handful of more live betting markets displayed for you to choose from.

When live betting, instead of placing your bet online, you must call the dedicated customer service number to place your bets. This is one of the main reasons live betting for racing isn’t very popular as racing events are usually over in a minute or two, which doesn’t give you a lot of time to call and sort out your bet.

Sporting events take place over a longer period therefore giving punters more opportunities for live betting. As you are probably already aware, things can change pretty quickly in sports, so if you see a market that presents some value, you’ll have to act fast to get on board.

betting-apps

TopSport App

TopSport advertises that their app is faster and easier to place bets and I certainly believe this is true. Their app is available to download in the App Store or the Google Play Store. Both the TopSport Android app and iOS app have the same features, so you’re not missing out either way.

TopSport App Australia

It’s easy to navigate around the TopSport app and within just a couple of clicks you can have your bets sorted! Live betting is also available through the app, along with real-time odds updates, so you’re always on top of any changes. I believe that TopSport has one of the best betting apps, but don’t just take my word for it…

I checked out their rating on both the App Store and Google Play Store to see what others have to say about the TopSport app. On the App Store, TopSport has 372 reviews for a rating of 4.4 out of 5. On the Google Play Store, TopSport has 128 reviews for a rating of 5 out of 5. Yes, you read that right, 5 out of 5!

If you don’t want to miss out on any of the action, you can set up notifications with the TopSport app. This means you’ll get notified when new promotions or important sports events are about to kick off. You’ll also be pleased to know that after using the app for a little while, I have yet to experience any glitches or bugs.

bonuses-promotions

TopSport Promotions

TopSport does have a solid range of promotions on offer and some of them are pretty unique. However, if you compare their offering to some of the major players in the market, they don’t have as many. There aren’t a lot of new daily or seasonal promotions available, but the range of standard promotions is certainly enough to keep punters going.

There are a few TopSport racing-specific promotions like:

  • Protest Payout
  • Best Tote or SP
  • Enhance Odds
  • Owners and Trainers Bonuses

TopSport (along with all other Australian bookies) is no longer permitted to offer sign-up bonuses for new customers, as per Australian regulations. While new customers won’t get anything, their entire range of promotions is on offer for existing customers. Remember, you’ll need to be logged into your account to view any of the TopSport promotions.

When it comes to betting sites with bonuses, I would consider TopSport to be around the middle of the pack. There’s still easy value for money to be had with TopSport, so it is worth checking them out to see exactly what promotions they have and how you can make them work with your betting strategy, like arbitrage betting, for example.

payment-methods

TopSport Payment Methods

The payment methods currently available with TopSport include:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Bank Transfer
  • PayID
  • BPay

Understanding the payment options available to you with TopSport Australia is pretty important. All the best bookies offer a wide range of deposit and withdrawal options, to ensure they cater to as many Aussies as possible.

When it comes to TopSport withdrawals, they have only bank transfers available. The TopSport withdrawal time is also not the best, especially when you consider some of the fastest withdrawal betting sites in Australia offer virtually instant withdrawals.

If withdrawal speed is a major consideration for you, it might be best to look at others with the fastest withdrawal time. There are a few other bookies that offer both additional withdrawal methods along with faster withdrawal speeds.

It’s a bit annoying considering they have several options but PayPal still isn’t available. This means if you’re looking for PayPal betting sites, your search goes on. They do, however, offer BPay, so if this payment method interests you, they are one of the few BPay betting sites going around.

In the end, there is still a decent enough selection of payment methods available with TopSport, which is more than some of the newer betting sites on the market. They could easily improve their offering by adding more withdrawal methods to their customers.

customer-support

TopSport Customer Support

The TopSport Australia customer support team are as helpful as you could hope for. There are many ways you can get in touch with them as well, unlike some of the newer betting sites on the market.

The ways you can get in touch with customer support include:

  • Phone (1800 TOPSPORT)
  • Live chat (through the website and app)
  • Email (support@topsport.com.au)
  • Mail (PO Box 455, Miami, QLD, 4220)

Live chat is a recently introduced feature of TopSport and it has certainly been well received by many punters. My preferred method is through live chat, as I find my issue is resolved quickly. If you want to get in touch with customer support through live chat, you can do so each day between the hours of 9am and 5pm (AEST).

I think an easy improvement in this area would be for TopSport to offer live chat 24/7. Live chat is the most commonly used method and issues can arise at any time, not just between the hours of 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday. When online, the customer service team responds quickly through the live chat.

FAQs About TopSport

Got some more questions about TopSport that you want answered? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve found all the most common Top Sport betting questions and answered them in this section. Keep reading to see if I’ve answered your question!

TopSport is owned by Lloyd and Tristan Merlehan (Merlehan Bookmaking Pty Ltd). This Aussie-owned bookie has been in operation since 1998 and is now one of the most popular betting sites in the country.

I think TopSport is a great bookie to bet with. They have high betting limits, don’t ban winning punters, competitive odds, a wide range of markets available and so much more. It’s easy to see why TopSport Australia is so popular.

At this stage, the only withdrawal method available with TopSport is through bank transfer. This withdrawal method can take one or two days for the money to hit your account, so there are certainly a few others in the market with better withdrawal times.

Yes, TopSport is a legit bookie in Australia. They are licensed in NSW and also have customers right around Australia. In fact, they are one of the biggest Victorian betting sites due to the range of features customers are offered.

There are plenty of markets available with TopSport. They offer markets on all three racing codes, including both domestic and international races. They also provide heaps of markets for sports events as well. Some of their most popular sports, like AFL and NRL, will have almost 200 markets available per game.

Live streaming is not available with TopSport at this stage. While you aren’t able to live stream events, you can still live bet with TopSport. I’ve found the range of markets with live betting is not as extensive as some of the others in the industry, but it is still a good addition to their overall offering.
