PuntCity is a solid bookie and has many things going for them. As expected with a newer bookie, there is still a bit of room for improvement, but the place where they are starting from is great. If they continue to build on their platform, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them making some serious waves in the industry.

Their website and app graphics help to ensure that PuntCity really stands out from the crowd and their app is as fast and user-friendly as you could hope for. They could do with adding in a wider range of sports and more payment options, to cater for a larger customer base, but all-in-all, there is plenty to like about PuntCity.

PuntCity Full Review

Katherine Mouradian
By:Katherine Mouradian

Launching in late 2023, PuntCity is making some waves on the Aussie betting scene. In this PuntCity review, I’ll cover all the main components of this bookie, so by the end of this page, you’ll have a good idea if you want to open an account with them.

PuntCity follows a similar layout as some of the other bookmakers that were introduced around the same time in Australia. While the theme is different, the core layout follows that of the BetCloud software. So, if you have seen other BetCloud bookmakers, you should be familiar with PuntCity.

About PuntCity

PuntCity really does stand out from the rest of the new betting sites thanks to the unique graphics on their website and app. It’s no secret that PuntCity is one of the new betting sites, but they are certainly worth checking out if you’re in the market for something a little different.

puntcity website.png

The theme they are going for with PuntCity has a very Vice City feel from GTA. The colours and other graphics used are unlike anything else I’ve seen before, so it’s pretty clear they are trying to stand out from the pack.

At this stage, PuntCity isn’t one of the few international betting sites that has made its way to Australia. They operate in Australia only and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as they can focus on the Australian market and understand what makes Aussie bettors happy.

For a new betting site, PuntCity has a decent range of markets available and I would say it’s their racing offering that excels the most. They offer decent enough racing odds across all three codes and even include blended markets.

Same Race Multis and Same Game Multis are also available with PuntCity, which is a great inclusion. This means you can add more legs to your bet and increase the potential payout. The layout of the PuntCity website and app also makes it easy for you to find what you’re looking for.

After downloading the app, I’m pleased to say it’s very user-friendly, just like their website. Everything is where you would expect it to be and it only takes a click or two for you to sort your bets out. No matter the market, racing or sports, it’s easy to find what you want. There’s a solid range of sports available, with a good variety of markets.

PuntCity is becoming more popular right around Australia, but I have noticed they are particularly popular in New South Wales and Victoria. In fact, I would even say that PuntCity is one of the fastest-growing Victorian betting sites. It’s important to note that the odds for PuntCity aren’t always as good as some of the bigger players in the game.

They could also improve their offering by adding aspects like live streaming and live betting. However, I wouldn’t consider these two aspects make-or-break, more like nice to have. As a starting point, what PuntCity offers is great and I would expect they are continuing to build on their offering.

At PuntCity, you’ll find that the betting variety is middle of the range. There is a good enough range to keep the majority of bettors happy.

Platform Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The PuntCity website and app are pretty easy to use. They have clearly designed their platform with the user’s experience in mind.

Banking Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

PuntCity offers a standard range of banking options, including; bank transfer and debit cards.

Payout Speed ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You’ll find that the payout speed on offer at PuntCity is quite standard, with payouts usually received in one to three business days.

There’s nothing to worry about here, PuntCity is a fully licensed Aussie bookmaker, so you should feel safe betting with them.

PuntCity Review Pros & Cons + Verdict

I don’t think any bookie out there is completely perfect, there will always be positives and negatives for you to understand. So, for this PuntCity review, there is no better time than the present to go through all the pros and cons.

After reading all the PuntCity pros and cons, you can decide for yourself if they are the type of bookie you’d like to bet with. I’ve found that the pros will outweigh the cons most of the time, but you can see for yourself! Check out all the pros and cons of PuntCity below.

PuntCity Strengths

Some of the most important PuntCity pros include:

  • Awesome graphics on the website and app - The theme is very unique and if you’re looking for something a little different, PuntCity should be right up your alley.
  • User-friendly app - Their app is very easy to use and it only takes a couple of taps before your bet is finalised.
  • Top-notch customer service - The customer support team are quite responsive, especially through live chat and work to resolve any issues quickly.
  • Same Game/ Race Multis - Create a multi from the same game/ race to increase your payout potential.

PuntCity Weaknesses

Some of the most important PuntCity cons include:

  • No live streaming - Live streaming for either racing or sports events isn’t currently available at PuntCity.
  • No phone for customer support - At this stage, only live chat and email are the available methods for the PuntCity customer support team.
  • Limited banking options - When depositing and withdrawing, there are limited options available, which include debit cards and bank transfers.

PuntCity Verdict

In terms of the best betting sites, PuntCity is certainly on its way up there. You have to remember they are only new, launching in late 2023, so while they may not have everything that’s on offer from some of the bigger players in the market, those players have a decade (or two!) on PuntCity.

Their racing product is what I think they have focused on, meaning they have heaps of markets available and on the homepage, the majority of the prime real estate is taken up by racing. They offer a live chat function, so if you have any issues, you can get them resolved quickly and they also provide Same Race/ Game Multis for racing and sports.

star

PuntCity Features

After taking my time to go through PuntCity, I’ve found a few features that are worthy of a mention. PuntCity is just getting started so their offering is slightly limited when you compare to the more established bookies in the market, but they still have some features that draw new punters in.

Same Race/ Game Multis

If you’re looking to get more bang for your buck, then popping on a multi could be the perfect option. With PuntCity, you can place Same Race Multis for horse racing and Same Game Multis for sports. Same Game Multis are perfect if you’re interested in AFL or NRL betting.

Same Race/ Game Multis are becoming quite popular these days due to the increased payout potential. The process of placing your multi is quite easy with PuntCity and you’ll see that betting option listed near the top when looking at a specific event.

Live Chat

Live chat is another great feature that is on offer by PuntCity, I found that not all the bookies on the Aussie market offer this service, or are only just now starting to offer this. So, for a new bookie like PuntCity to jump out of the gates offering live chat, it’s a great thing to see! Live chat means that any potential issues can be solved a little faster.

I believe that live chat is the best way to get in touch with any customer support team. At PuntCity, they tend to respond quite quickly and are generally pretty friendly. It seems as though they genuinely want to assist and resolve any issues as promptly as possible.

Unique Theme

I just love the theme they are going for, it is highly unique and instantly recognisable. I think it is a smart move by the marketing team as it will help to create brand recognition over the long term. The theme is consistent throughout PuntCity’s website and app.

PuntCity bet now

While it doesn’t have much to do with the betting product, having a bookie that looks good can have a positive effect. They are certainly bucking the trend with some of the other more established bookies in the market that clearly don’t put any thought into a theme for their platforms.

User-Friendly App

PuntCity has one of the best betting apps thanks to all the user-friendly features they have incorporated. The app is quite intuitive and everything is where you would expect it to be. This app is available on Apple iOS and Android devices.

I will discuss this further in this review, but it is very important to have a highly functional app and I haven’t encountered any issues with the PuntCity app. So, if you’re the kind of person who bets on the go a lot, you’ll be happy with what PuntCity’s app has to offer.

PuntCity Racing Offering

I think racing is where PuntCity shines. If you are a racing-focused bettor, there is a lot that PuntCity has to offer. PuntCity has nailed the basics and as one of the newer betting sites, it will be interesting to see how they expand their racing offering from here.

As soon as you head to their homepage, it’s clear they have a focus on racing as all the main real estate is on racing. Near the top of the page you’ll see three of the next to jump races, that includes events across all three racing codes (horse, harness and greyhound racing).

A little bit further down from that, you’ll see a “Featured Race” which includes one of the biggest upcoming races. After that, you’ll see all the upcoming races, which are split into all three codes, so if you just want to focus on the upcoming horse races, for example, it is easy.

PuntCity offers markets on all the same races that you’ll see at some of the biggest bookies in Australia and this includes both international and domestic races. When you head to a specific race, you can see all the different markets available, which include the likes of fixed win/ place, blended, Same Race Multi and more.

Also displayed are the fluctuations, so you can see the history of the odds for each runner. As well as this, quick insights are displayed, which can help you in your betting decision. I think they could build on this aspect by providing horse racing tips for bettors to take advantage of.

If you’re looking for the best racing odds going around, I can report that PuntCity’s odds, especially their fixed win/ place odds, are usually pretty decent. Most of the time they are on par with what some of the bigger bookies are offering.

No racing offering would be complete with promotions and PuntCity offers a basic range of promotions on racing events. There’s nothing particularly special about the racing promotions they offer, but there is certainly still value to be found with them.

Overall, if you’re looking for one of the best horse racing betting sites or greyhound betting sites, PuntCity is a solid option. They do the basics well and there are only a couple of areas that they can improve on to make their racing product one of the best in the industry.

market-variety

PuntCity Sports Offering

While PuntCity’s racing product is decent, they have still focused on providing a good sports offering for all their sports-focused bettors out there. You may not instantly see any sports-related markets when heading to their homepage, but all you should do is toggle over to sports using the button that is just below the logo on the left-hand side.

Once you toggle over to sports, you’ll find that the layout of the page is similar to that of racing. The first thing you’ll see is the next to play sports events, so if you’re looking for a sporting event that is just about to start, that is the place to be.

Next is the “Betting Blitz” section which showcases one of the biggest upcoming sporting events. This event will change depending on the day and what events are coming up. It is usually the most popular event that are attracting the most attention.

You’ll then see some of the upcoming events categorised by sport. There are three sports listed in this section and the sports featured in this section will change depending on how many popular upcoming events there are to bet on.

You can also select the “All Sports” section in the side menu to see what sporting events are available to bet on. PuntCity offers a decent range of sports, but it isn’t on the same level as some of the other betting sites. For example, if you’re looking for one of the great esports betting sites, PuntCity isn’t an option as they don’t offer esports markets.

The range of markets available for each event is pretty good, although it is usually the bigger events that see a high level of markets. So, if you’re looking for the best NBA betting sites, AFL betting sites or NRL betting sites, you’ll be pleased to know there is a whole stack of markets available for each game.

For other sports, like tennis for example, they do provide markets for a wide range of tournaments within the sport and they include some of the most popular markets. However, if you’re looking for more obscure markets, looking at other tennis betting sites might provide what you’re looking for.

Live betting and live streaming aren’t available at PuntCity at this stage. It would be nice to add these in the future, but it is understandable that they don’t currently offer this as it is quite resource heavy. For the future, it might also be good if they offered more sporting insights or tips, like NRL tips, NBA tips, EPL tips and AFL tips for example.

PuntCity Odds

Ah, the odds. The odds are the most important part of any bookmaker's offering. They can have all the user experience and flashy design in the world, but if the bookie's odds are constantly below its competitors, bettors don’t really have much incentive to continue betting with them.

You may not think slightly lower odds are really going to make that much of a difference, but over time things can really add up. This is especially the case if you are a regular bettor. This is why I always recommend comparing the odds with multiple bookmakers to see where you can pick up the most value.

One of the areas I think most new betting sites struggle with the most is their odds and PuntCity is no different. As their profit margin is quite thin, they can’t be offering hyper-competitive odds that we see some of the bigger bookies provide.

After comparing the odds of some upcoming events, PuntCity is in the middle of the range in terms of competitiveness. It’s not all doom and gloom though as this could change as PuntCity becomes more established in the market.

Also, you never know when a bookie is going to offer some tasty odds on a particular market. This is why you should always shop around before finalising any bets and there are heaps of odds comparison tools out there that can help make the process less time-consuming for you.

I compared the odds of PuntCity for a couple of upcoming racing events and I usually found that their odds were on par with what others are offering, especially for the favourite in the race. It is a similar story for PuntCity’s sports odds, but I would say that on average, their racing odds are more competitive.

features

PuntCity Australia Markets & Bet Types

No matter if you’re a casual punter or someone who takes things a little more seriously and likes to deploy more complex betting strategies (like arbitrage betting), PuntCity has a solid range of markets available. They are by no means as good as some of the bigger bookies in Australia, but for a betting site that’s just getting started, it sure is a very good start!

They have a good range of horse racing betting markets, including Same Race Multis. PuntCity offers markets on all three racing codes and this includes both international and domestic races. Some of the specific markets available in racing include; blended odds, win/ place, quinella, exacta, trifecta and first four.

PuntCity Racing

If you’re a racing bettor, PuntCity offers all the main and popular markets that you know and love. You’ll likely be able to find what you’re looking for with PuntCity, especially if you usually stick to the main markets like fixed win/ place and others. At this stage, they don’t offer futures markets, jockey challenges, or anything like that.

If there’s anywhere that I think PuntCity’s markets are lacking a little bit, it’s their range of sports on offer. If you are the kind of punter who’s into some of the more obscure sports or sports markets, PuntCity might not be the bookie for you.

For the more well-known sports though, PuntCity is a great place to bet as they have heaps of markets for sports like the NRL, AFL and NBA. We are talking in the multiple 100s, so you’ll likely find what you’re looking for.

When looking at some of the less popular sporting events, they do still have some markets available for bettors to choose from. However, it isn’t at a similar level to what I’ve seen at some of the more established bookies in the market. If you tend to stick with the most popular sports, you’ll have plenty of options.

I checked their website to see the range of sports they offer, which you can also find below (just keep in mind that it was a fairly quiet time of the year in terms of sports when I checked):

  • American Football
  • AFL
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Darts
  • MMA
  • NRL
  • Rugby Union
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

live-streaming

PuntCity Live Betting

Live betting is becoming more and more popular these days. As this feature continues to rise in popularity, I am seeing more bookies offer it. Although, I would say that at this stage, there are more Aussie bookies that don’t offer live betting compared to those that do.

Bettors enjoy live betting as it can add another layer of excitement to your experience, especially if you find live odds that have a bit of value in them. Live betting can be quite resource-heavy, which is why not all Australian bookies offer it.

At the time of writing, PuntCity is one of the bookies that doesn’t offer live betting. As a bookie that is on the newer side of things, I believe that is completely understandable. PuntCity should focus on getting the basics right and then once the foundations are set, they can focus on other nice to have features.

You’ll find that live betting is mostly available for sporting events because there is more in-play time compared to racing, where we see races over in just a minute or two. Australian legislation means that bettors must call a bookmaker to place their live bet.

It can be a complex process, so you’ll sometimes notice that the odds you’re looking at will change between the time you see them and the time you’re able to place your bet. This is why it is important to have a well-thought-out process that is as streamlined as possible.

Most new bookies that I am aware of simply don’t have the resources to have the customer service team manning the phones to place live bets. On top of this, having the resources to create live betting markets and decide on the odds for each available market (with the constant changing of the odds as the game is played).

betting-apps

PuntCity App

Having a high-quality betting app is pretty much essential these days. Betting apps allow you to bet on the go and provide an optimised experience. Pretty much every betting site will also offer an app and it’s important to provide bettors with a positive experience, so they keep coming back.

The thing that really makes me like the PuntCity app is the graphics. They are very unique to PuntCity and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this. The theme is quite out there and I know it won’t appeal to everyone, but it certainly appeals to me!

The PuntCity app isn’t all superficial, there are also great functional aspects that punters will love. Most new betting apps follow a similar layout, which you’ll find is the case with PuntCity as well. This means there is a solid focus on navigation and ensuring it only takes a couple of clicks for users to place their bets.

The app showcases racing on its home screen, so if you want to see more sports-related events, you’ll need to toggle over to sports. It’s easy to scroll through the list of available markets and choose your stake to place your bets. As soon as you choose a market, it is automatically included in your betslip.

Something else that is very important for a betting app to have is speed. PuntCity is as fast as you could ask for, which is great for those bettors who like to leave things to the last minute. It’s not just me who thinks highly of the app either, I checked out their Apple App Store and Google Play Store ratings:

  • Apple App Store rating - 4.1/5
  • Google Play Store rating - 4.4/5

bonuses

PuntCity Promotions

For a new bookie, PuntCity does have a reasonable amount of promotions. However, if you’re comparing them to some of the biggest players on the market, they are lacking in this area. It’s important to remember that no bookie, including PuntCity, can now offer any sort of promotion for signing up.

PuntCity betting Promotions

While there aren’t inducements for new customers, existing customers can choose from a range of promotions. If you want to see all the promotions that PuntCity has to offer, you’ll have to log into your account and then head on over to the “Promotions” page. When it comes to betting sites with bonuses, I would put PuntCity in the middle of the pack.

Some promotions that are visible on their website include; protest payout and best tote. With protest payout, if the horse you bet on wins the race, but then loses on an upheld protest, you’ll still be paid as a winner. With best tote, you’ll now receive the best return out of the three TAB dividends.

payment-methods

PuntCity Payment Methods

The payment methods currently available with PuntCity include:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Bank Transfer

While it may not be the first thing you think of when considering all the factors before signing up for a new bookie, the range and speed of withdrawal methods are fairly important. Having a solid range of options is never a bad thing, but the most important aspect has to be the speed at which you can receive your funds.

After conducting my PuntCity review, it is clear to me that they are a new bookie, as their range of both deposit and withdrawal methods is quite limited. If you’re looking for the fastest withdrawal betting sites, PuntCity probably isn’t the one. For withdrawals, the only method available is bank transfer and I usually find this method takes between one to two days to hit your bank account.

Unfortunately, those looking for more methods won’t find what they are looking for just yet with PuntCity. Things could change in the future though, remember that PuntCity is just starting out! If you’re looking for PayPal betting sites or BPAY betting sites, there are a few options available, but PuntCity isn’t one of them.

In terms of the process of depositing and withdrawing funds, at PuntCity it is quite easy. Once you are logged in, click on your available balance in the top right-hand side and then select the “Deposit” option when the small pop-up is displayed.

Make sure you have added in your debit card details and then you can select how much you wish to deposit. The process itself takes less than a minute and you should see your funds in your account almost instantly. If there’s any issues with funding your PuntCity account, I would recommend reaching out to their customer service team.

customer-support

PuntCity Customer Support

Having helpful customer support is quite important these days as a bad experience can leave a sour taste in your mouth. When it comes to customer support, it isn’t just about the speed of their replies, but also how friendly and helpful they are throughout communication.

For PuntCity, you’ll find that there are two options available if you need to get in touch with the customer support team. I think that for a bookie who is only getting started, having two options is decent enough, especially when one of them is live chat! Check out more details about customer support options below:

  • Live chat (through the website and app)
  • Email (service@puntcity.com.au)

From a personal point of view, I like live chat as a method to reach out to customer support. I find that live chat is the easiest and quickest way to get any issues resolved. PuntCity’s customer support team is available seven days a week and you’ll see whether they are online or not when you look to initiate a conversion.

I have never run into any issues with PuntCity’s customer support team and for a betting site that is still relatively new, having live chat and email as the two options available is perfectly reasonable. It would be good to see them add additional communication methods in the future though.

FAQs About PuntCity

It’s not surprising to learn that people have many different questions about PuntCity, especially considering they are one of the newer bookies on the market. So, if you’ve still got some questions about this bookie, keep on reading!

PuntCity is indeed legit! They are Licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory Racing Commission so you don’t need to worry about them being a dodgy bookie or anything like that. Your personal information is safe as well.
