Silky Switzerland 

The 2024 Pierro Plate at Royal Randwick was seen as Switzerland’s biggest test by far with many punters and online betting sites.  
 
Whilst it was pushed all the way by fellow young prospect Shangri-la Express, Switzerland forced its way into position before kicking on to an impressive win under James McDonald. 
 
Chris Waller was hugely impressed with the showing, and it has only served to affirm the belief that Switzerland has a huge future ahead of him. 
 
Race to remember 

The Pierro Plate at Royal Randwick was the curtain raiser to a superb day of racing, with 10 excellent contests adorning the card. 
 
Whilst Switzerland rightfully took all of the plaudits, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Shangri-la Express also ran a fantastic race and is also being mooted for a Golden Slipper push. 
 
The relative inexperience of all of the horses on the card was evident at times but the breakneck speed the race was run at was unmissable and the Anthony Cummings-trained Extreme Diva was hugely impressive in coming home in 3rd place. 
 
Swiss Slipper? 

Much of the talk in the early stages of 2024 with both punters and Australian horse racing betting apps has centred around the race for the Golden Slipper. 
 
With Switzerland the latest horse to make its mark, fellow 2-year-old flyer Storm Boy has also been making headlines with a string of impressive performances. 
 
A cool A$5 million will be on the line at Rosehill Gardens for the Golden Slipper on March 23rd and both Storm Boy and Switzerland look to be the horses to catch in the ante-post market betting.
