Betr has only been around for a couple of years, but with so much experience in the industry – and a handy dose of cash – they were always going to be well placed to make more of a splash than many of their less well-funded competitors. And so they have. Betr is a pretty high quality betting site even despite being still in its relative infancy.

Among its strengths are the presence of great promotions, live betting being available for sports, a good range of markets and a sleek mobile app. As is the case with all betting sites, Betr is not perfect, but they are doing a hell of a lot right and are certainly worth checking out.

Betr Full Review

Katherine Mouradian
By:Katherine Mouradian

Betr entered the betting world with a bang in 2022, with a couple of very memorable promotions helping them to immediately make their mark in what is a heavily saturated industry. They are well backed by some big names in betting, which has given them a leg up that many other new betting sites don’t have, and they have made the most of it.

In this Betr review, we will take a look at everything you could possibly need to know about this new bookmaker, including their strengths and weaknesses, the kinds of markets they offer, and how to place Betr bets.

About Betr

Betr entered the betting industry in 2022, backed by the former head of Sportsbet and BetEasy in Matt Tripp, as well as Tekkorp and News Corp Australia. Those are some big names, so Betr was always going to be in a good position to make an immediate impact, and with a range of very memorable promos that they set up from the outset, that is exactly what they did.

Those promos might have ended up leaking a little bit more money than was initially planned, but two years on Betr is still going strong and is doing a lot right. Since then they have been bought out by BlueBet, but they chose to stick with the Betr name – and as punters, what do we care who owns it?

The fact of the matter is, the site known as Betr – whoever owns it – is doing plenty to make themselves an attractive prospect for punters looking for a new bookmaker. So, I would certainly consider them one of the best Victorian betting sites going around.

Betr has a really good selection of different sports markets, both in terms of how many sports are offered, as well as the number of markets available for those sports and leagues that they do offer. This extends to Betr horse racing too, where every market that you would expect to find is there for races both from Australia and around the world.

As for their odds, across the board they are decent enough, though as always there is room for improvement. The odds generally seem to be better for horse racing betting than for sports; for racing they are up there among the bigger sites, while for sports they are a little closer to the middle of the pack.

Betr initially just had a Betr mobile app, so it’s no surprise that they have a pretty sleek and easy to use app. Now, however, they also have a website. Personally I find the app a little easier to use, though I generally am of that opinion for most bookmakers with decent apps. The website could use some improvement but is still decent enough.

Betr initially made waves in the betting industry by offering a range of great promotions. While they do not currently have any as good as those initial ones, they are still known for offering a really good range of bonuses for existing customers, and there are a few ways to get decent Betr bonus bets.

And as for their customer support platform? It is decent enough, allowing three different modes of contact for customers in need – live chat, a phone number and an email address. They could certainly be a little more prompt in responding at times and a 24/7 live chat function would be a nice bonus, but overall it’s a decent enough platform.

Overall, Betr is a much more well-rounded betting site than most would expect for one which was founded as recently as 2022. With a bunch of nice extra features also available, such as live streaming for racing and a blog providing tips for major sports, Betr comes out as one of the best betting sites going around, and one definitely worth checking out.

user-experience

Betr Key Rankings

Betting Variety ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Betr might not have as many betting options as some of the big international betting sites operating in Australia, but their range is still quite comprehensive.

Platform Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The platform experience at Betr is generally really good. It’s easy to find what you’re looking for and their app works well.

Customer Support ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There are many different ways that you can get in touch with the Betr customer support team. They do sometimes take a little longer than expected to reply though.

Banking Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an area they have improved on recently and they offer a great range of banking options, especially for deposits.

Payout Speed ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The payout speed with Betr is great and if you are with an eligible bank, you will likely receive your funds within an hour or so.

Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nothing to worry about here. Betr is a fully licensed Aussie bookmaker and you should feel safe betting with them.

Betr Review Pros & Cons + Verdict

In this section of this Betr review, we are going to take a look at some of the most notable strengths and weaknesses of Betr.

Betr Strengths

  • Sleek mobile app - An increasing number of betting sites have high quality mobile apps these days – makes sense, given how popular mobile betting is – but Betr’s is particularly good, unsurprising considering they started out as a mobile only betting site.
  • Great promos - Betr made their initial splash in the industry through promos, offering massive odds with small maximum outlays for a number of high profile racing and sporting events. That was just an initial way to bring in new customers, but they have continued to offer good promos since.
  • Live betting - Live betting is a popular feature but isn’t widely available on many betting sites, so it’s a big plus that Betr offers live betting of several different sporting events.

Betr Weaknesses

  • Some bugs on the website - Betr did not initially have a website. They do now, and it’s not a bad one by any means, but it can be a little buggy – for example, not opening pages properly when you click on certain links.
  • Customer support can at times be tardy - The customer support options provided by Betr are great – they have the trio of live chat, a phone number and email, and while they are reasonably helpful they can take a while to respond at times.
  • Fixed odds are only average - The value offered in fixed odds is something which varies from one bookie to another and which can add up over time, and while Betr is far from the worst in this regard, they are not exactly industry leading either.

Betr Verdict

Overall, whether those above strengths outweigh the weaknesses or the other way around depends on the user. For many, the existence of great promos and live streaming may well be big drawcards, but on the flip side of the coin, those seeking absolute maximum value for their bets might be more attracted to Betr’s competitors with better fixed odds.

Betr Features

With so many different betting sites around these days, it can be hard for new betting sites to separate themselves from the pack. A couple of nifty standout features, however, are a great way to do that. These are the most notable Betr features.

Bet Tracker

Ready to follow your multis across a range of different sports and see if you’re close to winning? Betr’s bet tracker means you can get real-time updates on your pending bets across the NBA, NRL, AFL, NFL and MLB.

This means that you don’t have to check in different places to see how close your multi is to getting up! This feature is a great addition to everything Betr already has to offer and they are well on their way to becoming one of the best NBA betting sites with this feature.

Fast Withdrawals

If you have a need for speed, you’ll like that Betr has introduced rapid withdrawals at eligible banks. This means that you can access your funds soon after initiating a withdrawal. Betr processes withdrawals multiple times a day, seven days a week.

Soon after the withdrawal is processed, you should see your winnings in your bank account. Fast withdrawals are also available with PayPal and if you choose to use this method, you should receive your funds in your PayPal account within an hour of Betr processing.

Team & Player Stats

Get valuable team and player stats for both NRL and AFL markets (and they have recently added this for more sports as well!). This information is very important if you’re looking to make your own decision on who or what you should bet on. In my experience, not many other betting sites offer this great feature.

So, if you’re looking for one of the best NRL betting sites or AFL betting sites, this is one of the ways that Betr differentiates itself. You can see how each team and player has performed recently, ensuring you make a more informed decision.

Betr Blog

A blog is a great way to increase engagement among existing customers, and Betr provides one which is accessible on both their website and app. The blog is a pretty comprehensive one, offering tips and predictions on AFL and NRL betting while also offering a little bit more general information about what is on offer with Betr.

This component of the site could be improved even further by including more sports in the blog, but they have started with the most popular ones and will no doubt look to increase the number of articles that they offer if the ones that are currently available are well received by punters. A blog is something that many betting sites do not offer, and that it is available with Betr provides another way for them to engage with their customers.

Betr Racing Offering

Betr’s racing offering really does stand out from some of the newer betting sites that have popped up in Australia. When I visited the Betr website, the first thing I noticed was the massive range of markets available across racing.

They seem to go well beyond what is typically available and you can bet on markets like Jockey Challenges, Box Challenges, Early Quaddie, Giant 6 and more. They even provide horse racing tips and previews for each race.

What’s even better is that these tips and previews are available across all three racing codes. You can even see fluctuations and speed maps, which can help you with your decision-making. So, if you want one of the best greyhound betting sites or horse racing betting sites, these factors alone really help Betr stand out.

Something else that I noticed Betr offers that not many others do is results. You can easily go back and view the results of recent races across all three racing codes. Betr even has a Blackbook feature, so you can save your favourite runners across horse racing, greyhound racing and harness racing.

On the Betr homepage, you’ll see all the next to jump races across the three racing codes and they even have a “Quick Multi” section for racing and if you want to jump on that particular multi, it is very easy.

I’ll talk more about this later on in this review, but the racing promotions and odds available at Betr are great as well! Betr offers a unique range of promotions and they are always updating what’s available to keep their bettors happy. For the odds, you’ll usually find that the odds available here are quite competitive.

Overall, there are a lot of racing-related features available at Betr that really help them stand out from the rest. If you’re a racing-focused bettor, then you are doing yourself a disservice by not checking out Betr.

market-variety

Betr Sports Offering

Turning to Betr’s sports offering now. I have to say, there’s a lot on offer. The range of sports available at Betr is massive, anything from volleyball to esports, you’ll be able to find at Betr. You can’t go wrong with Betr if you’re looking for one of the top esports betting sites in Australia.

Not only is the range of sports comprehensive, but the amount of markets available for each league is among the best in the industry. The options are seemingly endless and I would be very surprised if there was a market that you wanted to bet on that you couldn’t find with Betr.

Taking tennis for example, the sport is split by countries and if you click on a specific country, you can see all the different tournaments available. They even have futures markets available for the Grand Slams, making Betr one of the best tennis betting sites in my eyes.

I found the layout and navigation of the sports section very easy as well, meaning I can find what I was looking for fast. Betr also offers live betting on a range of sporting events, which is something that I will talk about in further detail later on in this review.

Betr offers team and player stats across some of the biggest and most popular leagues in the world, like the NBA for example. Where I think they can improve this offering is by adding more tips or preview information, like they do across the three racing codes. Adding NBA tips, EPL tips, NRL tips and AFL tips will certainly take Betr to another level.

I found the sports-related odds to not be as competitive as you would find for racing, but they are still usually on par with the majority of the other bookies in the industry. What makes Betr really stand out is their sports promotions. They do offer something a little different and they update their promotions all the time to keep things fresh.

In the end, there is a lot on offer with Betr that you can’t find with many other Aussie bookies. The promotions, I feel, are among the best in the industry and there are only minor improvements needed to take Betr to a completely new level.

Betr Odds

Odds. The foundation of betting. Odds are ultimately what determine whether a bet is worth placing or not. Contrary to how many people talk about it, betting is about finding an edge over the bookmakers; finding an outcome that is more likely to occur than the odds suggest. The way some people talk about it, betting is simply about punting on what you reckon will happen, but it’s the odds that should dictate your every move.

Generally there will not be enormous variance from one betting site to another, but there will always be some, and this difference can really add up over time. That is why it is so important to look to find the best odds wherever possible, to maximise your potential winnings and give you a better chance of achieving the very tough task of beating the bookies.

It is not usually particularly easy for smaller or new betting sites to be competitive from an odds perspective with the giants of the industry. Betr, however, does a great job of keeping up with their competitors in terms of the Betr racing odds.

Take an upcoming race in Kalgoorlie as an example; the favourite varies from $2.20 to $2.48 with major betting sites, and at Betr it’s at $2.40. Granted some of the other runners are a little shorter than average, but overall the odds here are pretty competitive.

They are similar from a sports perspective, albeit probably slightly worse compared to the Betr racing odds. You’ll find decent odds for most major sporting markets, but they certainly are not spectacular and you will find better odds elsewhere. Still, for a relatively new site they are far from the worst odds around.

Overall the odds on offer at Betr are pretty decent, and the Betr payouts will usually be a little better than average, particularly for racing. The Betr racing odds are generally slightly superior to those offered for sports, but for both of them, you won’t be completely rorted.

If you hunt around for sports odds in particular you will probably find better elsewhere most of the time, though this difference is not significant, and for racing the Betr odds will at times be close to as good as you will find.

Betr Australia Markets & Bet Types

Having looked at the kinds of odds you are going to find with Betr, let’s take a look at the markets that they have available. It’s a really important thing to look for when considering using any new bookmaker - the range of different markets that they have available.

For the purpose of this Betr review we will take a look at both sports and Betr racing, though for racing the markets that are offered are generally pretty consistent across the board and will not vary too much from one betting site to another.

For Betr, if you head to the racing component of the website or the Betr app you will be able to click through to all races in Australia and New Zealand, or you can opt to go for international races.

Once in an individual race, you will be able to bet on fixed odds or tote markets, while you can also punt on all the regular exotics. This includes the likes of a trifecta, quinella, quadrella, first four and so on.

For sports, the variation from one bookmaker to another can be more varied. While some will offer just the basics like head to head and line bets, others go far more in depth, offering all sorts of player props, alternate lines and so on. Betr fits into the latter category. They have a really good selection of different markets.

As an example, the upcoming NRL Grand Final has Betr markets for every line you can think of, Clive Churchill Medallist, a range of tryscorer markets, different try matchups which let you bet on who will score the most tries between certain players, and so much more.

Overall, the range of markets offered on Betr is really good. For horse racing it is all pretty standard, as is the case with virtually all betting sites, but their offerings for major sports is where they really shine, with a wide range of different Betr betting markets available on a large number of different sports. Particularly for a new betting site, this is an impressive component of the Betr model.

live-streaming

Betr Live Betting

Live betting is a bit of a new thing, having provided an alternative way for punters to place bets. Rather than having to bet on events prior to them starting, live betting enables you to suss out how something is playing out before placing your bet. Naturally this means that the odds change pretty rapidly, but it can still be a fun and potentially rewarding way to bet if you know what you are doing.

Live betting is still not available on quite a lot of different betting sites, but Betr is one that does offer it. Simply head to ‘live sports’ on the app or website to locate the different markets that are available, which are generally pretty wide-ranging compared to some other betting sites which offer live betting but only a small handful of markets.

To access the Betr live betting markets, as per Australian rules and regulations, you will have to call up to place your bet, rather than being able to do it online. This can slow people down a little and ensure that you don’t bet too impulsively, but the process of placing a live bet on Betr is still relatively straightforward.

This is a good addition to the Betr betting site, particularly given that they are still relatively young. Not that many new betting sites offer live betting, so the fact that Betr do is a big plus if this is one of your preferred ways to place a bet.

betting-apps

Betr App

When Betr first began, they started as an app only betting site. That means that it would be reasonable to expect that they would have a decent app, and lo and behold, they do. This is pretty pivotal for every betting site these days.

Speaking only from personal experience, having the ability to bet on the go from your mobile can make a massive difference when picking a betting site, and the fact that Betr started as mobile only really is a sign of the times that we live in.

It would be hard to justify opening in that way if the Betr app was no good, so it is no great surprise that it’s a pretty high quality one. Available from wherever you would normally get your apps from on both Android and iOS, the Betr app is plastered in its typical blue, light blue and white colours, and offers a simple way to access everything this bookie has to offer.

You can sign up, you can deposit and withdraw, you can contact customer support, and most important of all, you can trawl Betr’s range of markets and place bets on your phone. And pivotally, it all generally runs pretty smoothly – the biggest issue with the bad online betting apps is that they seem to be full of bugs, but I personally haven’t really come across any with Betr.

Betr is the quintessential new age bookmaker, with a focus on mobile betting resulting in a high quality app. It’s great that they have a website now so that you have the option, but personally, the app is the way to go for me, and the Betr app is about as good as they come.

bonuses

Betr Promotions

As mentioned earlier in this Betr review, promotions were the way that Betr initially made a name for themselves. No doubt this cost them a fair bit of money – so enticing were the promos for the punters that the bookmaker themselves would have lost out a fair bit on them, offering $101 odds on every runner in the Melbourne Cup, every team in the NBA to win the championship, and the same for AFL, NRL and the FIFA World Cup.

That made it pretty easy to make a bit of coin off Betr, but what it also did was get their name out there – pivotal in such a heavily saturated industry. And while they do not offer Betr deals as outrageously good as that on a weekly basis, they have still stuck fat with the notion of being a bookmaker that offers good promotions.

This might not be something that is necessarily the be all and end all, but for many punters it will be something that draws them over the line when looking for a new betting site. As per Australian rules and regulations we can’t discuss specific promotions and neither can Betr unless you are logged into an account with them, but in general, the Betr promos that are offered are pretty high quality.

Finding the betting sites with bonuses shouldn’t be too difficult and Betr offers exclusive promotions every day, so you will always find something new and exciting to get involved in. If you’re the kind of bettor who likes to use an arbitrage betting strategy, taking advantage of promotions is a way to get more bang for your buck.

payment-methods

Betr Payment Methods

The payment methods currently available with Betr include:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • PayID
  • Bank Transfer
  • PayPal
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • BPAY

While this may not seem like the most glamorous part of a bookmaker, it is still pretty important as you want to have a good range of options to choose from (or at the least, the payment method you usually use).

It’s not only about depositing and the range of options available but more importantly, withdrawing! I find that some bookies will offer a solid range of deposit options, but then only offer one option for withdrawing, which isn’t really good enough these days.

Withdrawing money is ultimately the end game of betting, so if you manage to get there, you want it to be as seamless an experience as possible! Generally there will be a lot more deposit options with betting sites than withdrawal options, and that is the case with Betr too, however, they have improved their range of options in recent times.

When you are depositing with Betr, your choices will be debit card, PayID, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bank Transfer and BPAY. Usually you’ll see your funds in your Betr account straight away, but it does depend on the method you’ve chosen.

For withdrawing, your options are bank transfer and PayPal. They also offer fast withdrawals if you are with an eligible bank. This means you can get your funds within a few hours. When compared to others, Betr is certainly one of the fastest withdrawal betting sites.

They have certainly improved their range of options available over the past year or so and I would consider Betr to have among some of the greatest range of options in the industry. This means that if you’re looking for one of the best PayPal betting sites or BPAY betting sites, you’ve found it with Betr.

When looking across other betting sites in Australia, Betr is right up there with the range of options available for their bettors. With a great range of options available, you’ll likely find a suitable option for you. The fact they have added PayPal as a withdrawal option as well is great and you can receive your funds within an hour!

customer-support

Betr Customer Support

Customer support might not be the most interesting topic to talk about, but chances are that at some point you will need to use it, so it’s good to know what’s available to you. Generally, betting sites will offer one, two or three options, those options being live chat, email and a phone number. The Betr online betting site offers them all.

This is a big plus in their favour, particularly the presence of live chat. In my view this is relatively comfortably the easiest way to resolve most issues, and with Betr you can do it either via the website or via the Betr app.

If you have a longer or more complicated inquiry, or just do not have the time to sit around and sort everything out in one go, then an email can be a better option. Alternatively, give them a ring if you wish to speak directly to someone.

It’s great that Betr offers all of these options and means that they have at the very least a decent customer support platform, though just having them there does not necessarily make it an efficient system. One area in which Betr customer support could certainly improve is in the promptness of replies, with punters sometimes having to wait a little longer than is ideal to hear back.

Still, overall it’s good that Betr has so many different options, meaning that whatever your query there is a contact method that is likely to suit you to a tee. If they can find a way to put a few more employees behind desks then that should speed up the response time, and make the Betr customer support platform even better.

FAQs About Betr

As we near the conclusion of this in-depth Betr review, we are going to take a look at a few of the questions that we most commonly get asked about this dynamic new bookie. So, if you still have some questions, make sure you keep reading.

Betr was set up by a group of different individuals and companies. Matt Tripp, who is the former CEO of a leading sports betting site in Australia in Sportsbet, as well as BetEasy, joined forces with Tekkorp and News Corp Australia. Betr was subsequently sold to BlueBet, which was founded and led by Michael Sullivan – who was also the former CEO of William Hill Australia.

Betr has a number of different features which help them to stand out from the crowd, a couple of which we looked at in more detail earlier in this, the most detailed of Betr betting reviews. Among the most notable of them are the existence of live betting, as well as the presence of their blog, while other important ones are the fact that they have live chat and a good range of different markets available.

As mentioned above, Betr was initially founded by a few different people and companies, but was ultimately bought out by BlueBet. BlueBet, however, upon purchasing Betr, decided to stick with the Betr game.

The limitations on who can use Betr are pretty straightforward, and are the same for all betting sites in Australia. First of all, you need to be at least 18 years of all – gambling for those younger is illegal in Australia. Secondly, you need to be in Australia, and will not be able to access the site or the app if you are not.

Unfortunately, at this point you cannot live stream sport with Betr. They do offer a bet tracker feature though, where you can keep track of how your bet is going live within the website or app.
