Can Adelaide kick on in AFL 2024?

The Adelaide derby tends to bring South Australia to a standstill and once again in 2024, the battle between the old foes did not disappoint. 
 
Whilst Port Adelaide have been enjoying wider AFL success in recent times, Adelaide have been clinching the spoils locally. 
 
That pattern continued, as the Crows overcame Port by 78-48, a result that shocked many punters and AFL betting sites. 

Crows are cooking 

The 2024 campaign has been a curious one for the Adelaide Crows, with their inconsistency baffling punters and experts alike. 
 
Prior to their meeting with Port Adelaide, the only two wins Adelaide had managed this term were against Carlton and North Melbourne. 
 
Consequently, they weren’t given too much hope going into this one against Port Adelaide, but they were clinical from the outset at the Adelaide Oval. 
 
Problems for Port 

No side likes to lose a local derby and suffering a heavy loss such as that will sting with the Port Adelaide faithful for a little while. 
 
However, the wider issue for Port Adelaide is their bluntness in attack, with only 48 points put on the board against the Crows here. 
 
This pattern has been emerging for Port Adelaide steadily throughout the campaign and it is something they will want to address moving forwards.  
 
Playoff push? 

Both of these sides have the players and the resources to make the top 8 at the end of the season and they are firmly in the mix to do so with many AFL betting sites. 
 
Recovering from a poor start to the season has been the primary objective for Adelaide, who can use this result as a catalyst now moving forwards. 
 
Meanwhile, Port Adelaide were pushing the top 4 for long periods of last season and they should rekindle their form and justify their status as playoff front runners this season with many AFL betting predictors.
