AFL 2024 Round 7

The cut and thrust of the regular AFL season is starting to take hold, as the battle for supremacy at the top of the table comes into sharp focus. With the GWS Giants seeing their unbeaten start disappear at Carlton last weekend, Geelong remain the only unbeaten team in the competition. With another huge round of fixtures ahead, there are plenty of chances out there for both punters and AFL betting sites alike.

Richmond vs Melbourne

It has been a tough start to the campaign for Richmond, who are desperately seeking a spark to kick start their season and how they would love it to come here against Melbourne. These two sides famously don’t think too much of each other and this should be an intense encounter for the players on the field and many onlookers and AFL betting sites

Whilst Richmond do need a win, Melbourne have looked decent this season and they will fancy their chances of taking this one on the road.

Essendon vs Collingwood

A pulsating encounter looks to be in prospect here, as Essendon host Collingwood at the MCG. Another pair of sides with no love lost, the Bombers will be reveling in the fact that they sit above the Magpies heading into this one and they will see this as a chance to kick on in the AFL table. Collingwood have won their last 3 though and are recovering well from a tricky start and their chances this term certainly haven’t been written off by any punters or small betting sites. This could be an absolute cracker and whilst Essendon will give it a go, Collingwood should be too strong here.

Hoskin-Elliott.

GWS Giants vs Brisbane

Having seen their unbeaten start to the campaign go up in smoke against Carlton last weekend, the GWS Giants will be eager to get back on track here against Brisbane. The Giants have been exceptional so far this term and they will want to prove that last week’s result was merely a blip in their AFL title push. Brisbane meanwhile have been under the pump so far this term, struggling to gain any sort of consistency but they will revel in their underdog role here. This should be a good one, with the GWS Giants perhaps possessing too much momentum for Brisbane.

Port Adelaide vs St Kilda

An intriguing clash between two of the more entertaining outfits in the division lies in wait here, as Port Adelaide welcome St Kilda to South Australia. Port have won 4 of their opening 6 games played and are starting to show the form from 2023 that made them one of the sides to beat with many punters and AFL betting sites. Meanwhile, St Kilda have only won twice this term, with a few near misses along the way and they will feel they have the personnel to trouble Port Adelaide in this one. This should be a good game, with home advantage potentially telling for Port Adelaide.

North Melbourne vs Adelaide

Basement dwellers North Melbourne are in search of some divine inspiration, as they take on Adelaide at the Blundstone Arena. North Melbourne have lost all 6 of their games played this season and it is beginning to have the look of a very long campaign ahead. Adelaide meanwhile haven’t been pulling up too many trees, but they do have 1 win on the card this term – a remarkable triumph on the road at Carlton and they will more than fancy their chances of picking up a second win of the season here.

Geelong vs Carlton

The biggest showdown of the weekend pits Geelong against Carlton, in an absolute whopper at the top of the tree. Geelong are the only unbeaten side in the AFL this season but not too many people are getting behind their championship bid with the biggest and best AFL betting sites. Playing Carlton next is the toughest test Geelong have faced this term, with the blues having picked up a super win over the GWS Giants last time out and they would love to end another unbeaten trot here. This should be a belter, with Carlton ready to lay down a big marker.

Fremantle vs Western Bulldogs

Two sides in need of a confidence boost meet here, as Fremantle take on the Western Bulldogs. For Fremantle, recovering from a painful defeat to the West Coast Eagles last weekend will be their priority, as they look to snap their 3-game losing run. Meanwhile, the Western Bulldogs sit 8th in the table – lacking consistency in all aspects of their game once again in 2024. This is a tough one to call, with the Western Bulldogs perhaps having enough about them to pull a result out of the bag.

Gold Coast vs West Coast

The West Coast Eagles will be looking to build on their remarkable turnaround in recent weeks, as they travel to the Gold Coast. For the hosts, this looks to be on paper a game they should win but they will be all too aware of the improvements made by the West Coast Eagles over the past fortnight. Calling a winner here is a tough ask, with both sides sure to fancy it but home advantage could prove telling for Gold Coast, who do need a win themselves.

Hawthorn vs Sydney

The Sydney Swans will be looking to kick on from their strong start to the season, as they travel to Hawthorn. For the Hawks, building on their first win of the campaign over North Melbourne last time out will be their priority and they will have a real good go here. However, the Sydney Swans look to be the real deal in 2024 and whilst they will have to be careful of complacency, this should be a very winnable game for them on the road here.
