AFL 2024 Round 6
AFL 2024 Round 6

The demands of the regular AFL season are starting to take hold at both ends of the table. At the top of the pile, the GWS Giants and Geelong remain the unbeaten sides, whilst at the bottom of the table both North Melbourne and Hawthorn continue to search for their first points of the season. This should be another super round of fixtures, with plenty to get behind for both punters and AFL betting sites alike.

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs

Two sides locked in a mid-table battle this season face off here, as St Kilda welcome the Western Bulldogs. Both sides have an identical record this season, with 2 wins and 3 losses each from their opening 5 games played. St Kilda have shown glimpses of quality this year, without any consistency, a trait that the Western Bulldogs have replicated, making his one a very tough game to call with many AFL betting sites

This should be a very open contest, with both sides sure to back themselves but home advantage could be the key difference for St Kilda here.

Adelaide vs Essendon

Following their incredible and unexpected win over Carlton last time out, Adelaide will be out to build on that result here against Essendon. Neither side has really got going this term, with inconsistency blighting both their results and their performances but they are seen as two sides that could force their way into the AFL playoffs this term with many punters and small betting sites. This should be a high-octane contest, with no quarter given and it could well be Adelaide who manage to sneak over the line here.

Collingwood vs Port Adelaide

The top two sides in 2023 have both finally got going in 2024 and this will be a test of their progress here, as Collingwood take on Port Adelaide. Plenty of people had written off the Magpies this season after their poor start but they look to have found their stride now and they will be eager to rattle into Port Adelaide here. For Port, this is a tricky assignment, but they have plenty of quality in their ranks and it’s not a game they will fear. This should be a very good watch, with Collingwood perhaps more likely to prevail here.

Carlton vs GWS Giants

The top two sides in the AFL meet here, as Carlton host GWS Giants, in what should be an absolute ripper. Both sides are amongst the firm favourites to life the 2024 title with many AFL betting sites and this contest should be a real test of their credentials. GWS are unbeaten this season, in what has been a stellar start to the campaign, but Carlton will want to avenge their defeat to Adelaide last weekend and should come out firing here.

Brisbane vs Geelong

Another pair of sides chasing glory this season meet here, as Brisbane and Geelong go at it in Queensland. The Lions haven’t been at their best in 2024 but they remain a side filled with potent attacking talent, and they can turn on the style against anybody when it matters. Meanwhile, Geelong remain unbeaten and look ready to mount an AFL championship bid of their own in 2024. This is the toughest game to call of the weekend, but records are there to be broken and Brisbane may just outlast Geelong here.

West Coast vs Fremantle

Last week marked a significant result for West Coast, who managed to overcome Richmond and pick up their first win of the season, something they will be hoping to build upon here against Fremantle. The Eagles are fighting hard at the bottom of the pack, but they still remain a side in the wooden spoon frame with most AFL betting sites. Meanwhile, Fremantle sit 7th in the table, with 3 wins from their opening 5 games and they will want to get back to winning ways here. West Coast will be up for this, but Fremantle should simply have too much about them in this one.

Sydney vs Gold Coast

A pair of sides that currently occupy positions inside the top 8 meet here, as Sydney take on Gold Coast at the SCG. The Swans have looked imperious so far this season, only losing one of their 5 games and an AFL Championship push certainly looks to be within their grasp this season. Meanwhile, Gold Coast have also looked good at times in 2024 and who knows how far they could go this term. This should be entertaining, with home advantage potentially pushing Sydney over the line.

North Melbourne vs Hawthorn

A basement battle is the last game on the card for week 6, with the two front runners for the AFL wooden spoon lining up. North Melbourne are winless this season, following on from an abject campaign last season and they need to turn the tide. Hawthorn meanwhile petered out big time in 2023 and have carried on that form this season and they too are yet to win a game in 2024. Most of the predictions are coming down on Hawthorn’s side but North Melbourne could perhaps manage to get this one done at home.
