Newcastle Knights vs Manly Sea Eagles
Newcastle Knights will be opening the proceedings of the week like the previous round, but this time, they will be playing on home turf. A spirited Sea Eagles will travel to McDonald Jones Stadium after downing the Broncos 34-6. The morale at the home camp, however, is completely different.
Newcastle have been downright dreadful this year—averaging a limp 13.25 points per game, with half their wins coming against battered, Origin-hit sides. Their commendable defence is the last thread holding them above the abyss.
This will be only the fourth time Adam O'Brien’s men take on a team in the top eight of the ladder. So, you can imagine why betting sites are not overly enthusiastic about a Newcastle win even though they will be playing in front of their home crowd. We aren’t either, and have the Sea Eagles getting through this one easily.

Haumole Olakau'atu 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jazz Tevaga 14. Lachlan Croker 15. Corey Waddell 16. Nathan Brown 17. Matthew Lodge.
Melbourne Storm vs North Queensland Cowboys
The fourth-placed Storm return to AAMI Park this week after a convincing away win on the Gold Coast. But they can’t afford to take their foot off the gas, with the Cowboys—just two spots behind on the NRL table—charging into town and looking to close the gap.
Melbourne have been wildly inconsistent in recent weeks, winning four of their last seven but dropping three. At their best, they were unstoppable—thrashing the Wests Tigers 64-0. At their worst, they slumped to a baffling 14-8 defeat to St George Illawarra.
With five wins, five losses, and a draw, the Cowboys sit firmly on the fence. Their next three games—against the Storm, Dolphins, and Roosters—will go a long way in defining their season. In this clash, though, we’re tipping the home side to come out on top and bag two vital points.
Official Squads
Storm: 1. Ryan Papenhuyzen 2. Sua Faalogo 3. Grant Anderson 4. Nick Meaney 5. Xavier Coates 6. Cam Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Shawn Blore 12. Jeremiah Nanai 13. Reuben Cotter 14. Harrison Edwards 15. Kai O'Donnell 16. Griffin Neame 17. Coen Hess.
Dolphins vs St George Illawarra Dragons
The Dolphins did not feature in last week’s preview as they had a bye round, but Krisitian Woolf’s men will be in action this week against the Dragons at Suncorp, and they are the favourites across betting apps.
In their last outing, the Dolphins delivered arguably their finest performance of the season, dismantling ladder-leaders Canterbury Bulldogs by 36 points—on enemy turf, no less.
The Dragons are also starting to click, however, picking up wins over Brisbane by four and Newcastle by 14 in consecutive weeks.
It might look tight on paper, but history says otherwise. Every clash in this budding NRL rivalry has gone the way of the home side, and none have been decided by fewer than 14 points.
Official Squads
Dolphins: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jake Averillo 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Jack Bostock 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Francis Molo 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Daniel Saifiti 11. Luciano Leilua 12. Ray Faitala-Mariner 13. Hamish Stewart 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Jack de Belin 16. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga 17. Blake Lawrie.
Cronulla Sharks vs New Zealand Warriors
The Sharks have thrilled and frustrated in equal measure this season. They have pulled off some eye-catching wins, but have also delivered some shockingly underwhelming displays.
As they line up against one of the league’s most consistent sides, their unpredictability could be either their biggest weapon or their greatest flaw.
The Warriors have only lost to three teams this season; the Bulldogs, Storm and Raiders. Halfback Luke Metcalf has been one of the league’s best performers with James Fisher-Harris proving to be a valuable addition to the squad.
Given the Warriors have been the more impressive side so far, we expect them to carry that on and secure a win here.
Official Squads
Sharks: 1. Will Kennedy 2. Mawene Hiroti 3. Jesse Ramien 4. KL Iro 5. Chris Vea'ila 6. Braydon Trindall 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Oregon Kaufusi 11. Briton Nikora 12. Teig Wilton 13. Cameron McInnes 14. Daniel Atkinson 15. Billy Burns 16. Siosifa Talakai 17. Braden Hamlin-Uele
Warriors: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Adam Pompey 4. Kurt Capewell 5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Luke Metcalf 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Bunty Afoa 11. Leka Halasima 12. Marata Niukore 13. Erin Clark 14. Te Maire Martin 15. Demitric Vaimauga 16. Jackson Ford 17. Tanner Stowers-Smith.
Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans
The Broncos looked like real contenders early on, winning four of their first five, but that hot start is a distant memory now. Since putting the Bulldogs to the sword, they have been winless in four successive games. Next up, they face a Titans side that has suffered an even rougher campaign.
Gold Coast show flashes of brilliance every match, but in most of the games, they somehow manage to blow it. Their last game against Storm followed this script as they had moments of promise, but in the end, a 12-point loss added to their growing list of missed opportunities.
Both teams have struggled lately, but we will give the Broncos the benefit of the doubt since they are playing at home and have at least shown glimpses of winning capability earlier in the season.
Official Squads
Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Selwyn Cobbo 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Gehamat Shibasaki 5. Jesse Arthars 6. Ezra Mam 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Patrick Carrigan 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Xavier Willison 12. Jordan Riki 13. Kobe Hetherington 14. Billy Walters 15. Corey Jensen 16. Brendan Piakura 17. Benjamin Te Kura
Titans: 1. Jayden Campbell 2. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 3. Brian Kelly 4. Jojo Fifita 5. Phillip Sami 6. Kieran Foran 7. Tom Weaver 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 9. Sam Verrills 10. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 11. Chris Randall 12. Beau Fermor 13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui 14. Sean Mullany 15. Jaimin Jolliffe 16. Klese Haas 17. Jacob Alick-Wiencke.
Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
Canberra Raiders will take the pitch on Sunday against the Rabbitohs, hoping to continue their surprise NRL run.
Not a lot of people had picked Ricky Stuart’s men as one of the biggest title contenders before the season started, but they have defied all expectations so far. The Raiders are currently second in the standings and if the results go by their way, they could finish the week as the league leaders.
The Rabbitohs have also had a commendable season till now. They are firmly in contention for a finals berth even though they have had some key injuries.
The Raiders should win this, but we expect the Rabbitohs to put up a solid fight.
Official Squads
Raiders: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Savelio Tamale 3. Matt Timoko 4. Seb Kris 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Ethan Sanders 8. Corey Horsburgh 9. Tom Starling 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Zac Hosking 13. Morgan Smithies 14. Owen Pattie 15. Simi Sasagi 16. Josh Papali'i 17. Ata Mariota.
Rabbitohs: 1. Latrell Mitchell 2. Alex Johnston 3. Jack Wighton 4. Campbell Graham 5. Isaiah Tass 6. Cody Walker 7. Jamie Humphreys 8. Jai Arrow 9. Siliva Havili 10. Keaon Koloamatangi 11. Euan Aitken 12. Tallis Duncan 13. Lachlan Hubner 14. Jayden Sullivan 15. Sean Keppie 16. Davvy Moale 17. Tevita Tatola.
Wests Tigers vs Penrith Panthers
While the Tigers and Panthers have posted similar records this season, the mood in each camp couldn’t be more different. The Tigers, with five wins, have already bettered last year’s effort. The Panthers, stuck on four, are a shadow of the team that lifted the trophy last season.
That said, it's hard to argue the Tigers have made significant strides. Their attack has shown promise, but defensively they’ve been far too fragile. The Tigers recently suffered a crushing 64-0 loss that likely took a toll on morale.
The Panthers have been in dreadful form as well, but they have shown signs of recent resurgence. So, it’s reasonable to back the Panthers to win this.
Official Squads
Tigers: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Adam Doueihi 4. Starford To'a 5. Charlie Staines 6. Latu Fainu 7. Jarome Luai 8. Terrell May 9. Api Koroisau 10. Royce Hunt 11. Samuela Fainu 12. Alex Seyfarth 13. Alex Twal 14. Heath Mason 15. Jack Bird 16. Sione Fainu 17. Tony Sukkar.
Panthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Izack Tago 4. Casey McLean 5. Brian To'o 6. Blaize Talagi 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Liam Martin 13. Isaah Yeo 14. Luke Sommerton 15. Isaiah Papali'i 16. Luron Patea 17. Luke Garner.
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels
The Bulldogs will feature in the final act of the week and they will be taking on the Eels, who are second to bottom in the standings. However, the Eels have been a much better side since Mitch Moses returned to the squad.
The Eels are a team in transition, so they did not enter the season with high expectations. But, three of their four wins have come in the last six games. So, Jason Ryle’s men can feel a bit confident heading into this clash.
That said, the Bulldogs remain the team to beat in the NRL this season. They have an elite defence supported by an attack that gets the job done. We don’t see them dropping points against the Eels at home.
Official Squads
Bulldogs: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Blake Wilson 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Stephen Crichton 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Matt Burton 7. Bailey Hayward 8. Max King 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Josh Curran 11. Viliame Kikau 12. Harry Hayes 13. Kurt Mann 14. Lachlan Galvin 15. Samuel Hughes 16. Lipoi Hopoi 17. Luke Smith.
Eels: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Zac Lomax 3. Sean Russell 4. Will Penisini 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Jack Williams 9. Ryley Smith 10. Junior Paulo 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. J'maine Hopgood 14. Dylan Walker 15. Luca Moretti 16. Ryan Matterson 17. Jordan Samrani.
