NRL Multi Bet of the Weekend

Round 22 is in the books and once again it delivered! The Knights beat the Raiders comfortably, while the Sea Eagles edged the Dragons and the Titans upset the Cowboys. Our multi of the week lost on its last leg again, with the Cowboys not turning up against the Titans, losing by 9-points. We are back this week with MyBettingAustralia’s NRL Multi of the week and we have found some value across Betting Sites on the Panthers, Broncos and Rabbitohs.

Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm

August 4th 20:00, BlueBet Stadium

For our first leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Panthers hosting the Storm. This is a premiership contender clash as 1st place take on 4th place in a 2020 grand final rematch. Both sides are coming into this one on the back of impressive wins last week, with the Storm beating the Eels by 30-points while the Panthers kept the Sharks scoreless, winning 28-0. What has really separated the Panthers this year is their defense. They have only conceded 236 points this year, more than 100 less than 2nd least. This equates to just 12.4 points per game conceded. This tremendous defense combined with the injection of Nathan Cleary is going to make them hard to beat as they look to go for the 3-peat this season.

These 2 sides played just 5 weeks ago in Round 18, where the Storm were home, and the Panthers were without Cleary. The result was an 18-point win for the Panthers. They now have Cleary back and are playing at home. While the Storm are a top side, the Panthers have shown themselves to be a level above and that’s why I am taking the Panthers/Panthers Halftime/Fulltime double @1.75 on PlayUp.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos

August 5th 15:00, Queensland Country Bank Stadium

For our second leg of the multi of the week, we look at Cowboys hosting the Broncos. The Cowboys are coming off a poor performance, losing 22-13 to the Titans, while the Broncos extended their winning streak to 4 after beating the Roosters 32-10. The Broncos have come out with a point to prove this season, upsetting Panthers on day 1 and not looking back since, marking themselves and true Premiership contenders. The Cowboys on the other hand started slow but found tremendous form to win 6 in a row and move them into the 8, after sitting down the bottom end of the ladder.

Fully fit this is a clash of the titans, however, the Cowboys are without Valentine Holmes due to suspension as well as Nanai and Tamou. While all these losses do make an impact, the biggest concern comes from Valentine Holmes and his kicking. Holmes has kicked at a tremendous 83% this year, while his replacement Townsend kicks at a much lower 72.5%. The Broncos have the better outfit here, are coming into this one high on confidence and should have an extra 2-4 points through goal kicking. That’s why I am taking the Broncos -3.5 @1.87 on Bet365

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Cronulla Sharks

August 5th 19:35, Optus Stadium

For our final leg of the multi we see Rabbitohs hosting the Sharks. The Rabbitohs are coming off a 14-point win against the Tigers, while the Sharks are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Panthers in which they were kept scoreless. The Sharks are known to be flat-track bullies, beating the weaker sides comfortably yet failing to beat the more elite opposition. The Rabbitohs are of course elite opposition, especially with the timely return of Latrell Mitchell who looked damaging last week despite not scoring or assisting. The Rabbitohs have beaten the Sharks in 4 of their past 5 games, with the Sharks being home for 2 of these wins and 1 being a neutral venue.

Things went from bad to worse last week for the Sharks with fullback Will Kennedy going down to a hamstring injury. The Sharks lack much cover at fullback and will likely play Conor Tracey out of position. The Sharks are already low on confidence and this backline reshuffle is bound to impact how they play, with Kennedy being so pivotal to their attack. I think the Rabbitohs are going to find form heading into the finals series and that’s why I am taking the Rabbitohs/Rabbitohs Halftime/Fulltime double @1.63 on PlayUp.
