Schwarz stormed to victory in the 2024 Hawkesbury Guineas.

Schwarz is set for another big season ahead, following success in the Hawkesbury Guineas

News Insights

  • 3-year-old Schwarz wins the Hawkesbury Guineas.
  • Competition was fleeting, as the colt prevailed by 2 lengths over the 1400m trip.
  • Trainer John O’Shea is hoping for plenty more big races from Schwarz this season.
  • Runs in the Fred Best and the Stradbroke Handicap are on the agenda next.

Consistently winning races at the sharp end of Australian racing is not an easy thing to do, but Schwarz is a horse that is seriously looking the part for trainer John O’Shea.

The colt’s latest win, an impressive triumph in the Hawkesbury Guineas, the big races are coming thick and fast for Schwarz and a keen eye is being kept on him by all Aussie horse racing punters and online betting sites.

The cut and thrust of the Autumn and Winter racing season can become too much for some horses but Schwarz is a flyer that appears to be thriving under pressure with many punters and Aussie bookmakers

Aged just 3, Schwarz already has some seriously impressive wins under its belt and the colt delivered once again for John O’Shea at Hawkesbury.

Being the favourite in a race is one thing, backing it up and delivering is another and Schwarz stood up to the test in front of him at Hawkesbury and he looks ready to tackle some of the biggest races on the calendar this year.

Sensational Schwarz

In comparison to some of the races Schwarz has won in his career, the Hawkesbury Guineas may not jump off the card as a huge achievement.

However, with stiff competition forming in the likes of Butch Cassidy, Schwarz stood up to the test big time and put in an incredible showing under James McDonald.

Leaving the field for dead over 1400m, Schwarz had pace to burn, and the future looks to be very bright for a horse that appears to be maturing all the time.

Hawkesbury Hero

Getting a W in the column was key for both John O’Shea and Schwarz, who had endured a couple of near misses in his last outings.

He found Brave Mead too hot to handle in the Darby Munro last time out, having also ran into too much traffic in behind Jolliestar in the Arrowfield Sprint.

With confidence in the camp now up and a big race win in the bag, Schwarz will be eager to kick on through the remainder of 2024 and his progress will be tracked by both punters and Australian horse racing online betting sites

What next for Schwarz?

With owners, jockeys and trainers waxing lyrical following Schwarz’s win at Hawkesbury, the big races certainly seem to be high on the agenda.

The Fred Best Classic at Eagle Farm remains a jewel in the calendar and once again, Schwarz will be amongst the front runners for glory there.

Beyond that, the A$3 million Stradbroke Handicap looks to be the target for Schwarz this season and few would bet against him clinching that huge success and he is firmly in the hunt with many horse racing betting apps

2024 has been a year of progression for Schwarz, who picked up a superb win at the Hawkesbury Guineas last time out.

Connections are buzzing with excitement as to how far this colt could go and the big races pile up, with the Fred Best Classic and the Stradbroke Handicap on the agenda next.
