Prost is a horse to be reckoned with in 2024

Prost is a serious Golden Slipper candidate

Winning races makes people stand up and take note and Prost has won three times already in 2024

News Insights

  • 2-year-old Prost has been producing some big wins in 2024.
  • The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained flyer has won all three outings this year.
  • Prost was imperious in winning the Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill Gardens last time out.
  • Connections are eying up a Golden Slipper for Prost this season.

The beginning of the calendar year is always a key time for owners and trainers, as they look to put their best feet forward for the 12 months ahead.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have been in fine form so far this year, with plenty of their horses catching the eye with punters and online betting sites and Prost has been one of their standout offerings.

Any horse that manages to win three races on the spin makes punters and Aussie bookmakers stand up and take note and that is exactly what Prost has done in 2024.

The 2-year-old comes from serious stock and has looked the part in training sightings, but something appears to have clicked of late and it looks to be a tour de force within Australian racing.

Management of Prost by the prolific duo of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will be second to none and it looks to have a big year ahead, with a Golden Slipper challenge being mooted.

Timing is everything

Having the experience and knowhow within a training group is essential for any horse and both Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott are two of the best in the business.

Plenty of eyebrows were raised when Prost was not declared for the Magic Millions back in January with punters and online betting sites, but he was being saved for other contests.

Held back for the Group 3 contests at both Randwick and Rosehill Gardens, Prost prevailed comfortably in both and now his stock has risen to an all-time high.

Running riot at Rosehill

With the Golden Slipper to be held at Rosehill Gardens in March, it of course makes absolute sense that Prost would be tested at the course in advance of the big race.

Onlookers could scarcely believe their eyes however, as Prost, under the expert stewardship of Tim Clark, eased past the likes of Fearless and Traffic Warden to clinch a third triumph of the year.

Inevitably, that performance has had plenty of punters and betting apps in a bit of a spin, as Prost’s standing within the Golden Slipper betting has moved quite significantly.

Unbeaten in 2024

Whilst there is no set formula for any horse coming of age, it would seem that Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott almost have it within their training regime.

First Storm Boy, now Prost, are two young and exciting horses that have been on fire since the turn of the year and they look to have the Australian racing world at their feet.

Prost is yet to be beaten in 2024 and with bigger and better contests to come, it promises to be a huge year ahead for all associated with him.

Prost has been one of the standout performers in 2024 with punters and online betting sites, with his Magic Millions omission a big surprise.

However, a winning horse is always one to be way of and with 3 triumphs already in 2024, a place in Golden Slipper contention has been assured.
