NRL Best Tips and Multi Bet of the Weekend | Round 5
Penrith Panthers vs North Queensland Cowboys
April 4th, 18:00 AEDT, CommBank Stadium, Sydney
Few would have expected the Panthers to go one and three over the first month of the 2025 NRL Premiership, but that’s exactly how matters have unfolded this season. Still, it’s a long competition, and there’s plenty of time for the four-time defending champs to work their way back into contention.
We expect that will start on Friday night against the Cowboys, who also have just the one win so far this year. Penrith are a far better outfit, and will want to kick their campaign back into gear with a big win in front of their home fans.
Given how North Queensland’s defence has been the past four rounds - 124 points leaked - starting your multi off with a bet on the Panthers winning this one by 13+ is a smart move.
Dolphins vs Gold Coast Titans
April 5th, 17:30 AEDT, Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast
Just two sides remain winless so far this season, and the Dolphins are one of them. We don’t believe that will last beyond this round, however, and have Kristian Woolf’s men getting over the line on Saturday against the Titans.
While the Gold Coast have won two of their three fixtures so far, they haven’t really been tested. The Dolphins, meanwhile, have been tough beats, even if they have lost each match eventually.
They’re too good of a side for this losing streak to continue, and with odds of $2.45 on offer at Bet365, backing a Dolphins victory gives this NRL multi some real punch.
Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers
April 5th, 7:35 AEDT, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
The Wests Tigers head to Brisbane to take on the Broncos as enormous underdogs. Fair enough - Benji Marshall’s men will be without star pivot Jarome Luai, while Brisbane have looked to be genuine title contenders this season.
However, we reckon there’s a little bit more backbone to this Tigers unit in 2025, and they won’t simply roll over at Suncorp like Australian betting sites are expecting them to. We thought the same about the Dragons last week and got that one right, so while a victory might be a bridge too far, betting on Wests to cover the spread here is a reasonable wager.
