GET ON - #4 Zardozi
Zardozi is rated as the best bet of the day, let me tell you why. Struggled to make the top four last start, but showed glimpses of ability. Zardozi stepped out at Randwick, finishing 8th over 1400m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 57kg under Tim Clark. Has won from similar barriers before, so should be fine. This Saturday, Jamie Melham will be in the saddle and ready for a win. This race looks suitable for this tactical rider. From the James Cummings Stable, you can expect a quality horse. At this venue, has a career record of 2-1-0, including 2 victories. In solid form, wouldn’t be a shock to see it win.

THREAT - #7 Steparty
I think Steparty is flying under the radar and could deliver at juicy odds. Showed plenty of heart to finish third last run, running on well late. Steparty raced recently, placing 3rd in a 1400m event at Caulfield. Jockey Blaike McDougall guided the runner, carrying 59kg. Started at $14.00 odds. Has the speed to make use of an outside barrier. Jockey Blaike McDougall will be in the saddle this Saturday. Has a great winning strike rate. No wins over this distance of 1600m, but this could be the day. Has had success here (Flemington) before and could do it again. Handles this track well, boasting 2 wins from 4 runs. Could be flying home late, keep an eye out.

ROUGHIE - #10 Place Du Carrousel
Place Du Carrousel is usually an unpredictable runner that can spring a surprise result. Last race result placed outside the top four, yet displayed some strong moments. Last outing, Place Du Carrousel took on a 2000m race at Flemington and finished 8th. Carried 55kg, started at $17.00, and handled a soft surface. Yet to win on this track rating, so let's what happens at Flemington. A perfect barrier for this horse’s running style. Jye Mcneil is in the saddle and in nice racing form. This should be a dangerous combo. Place Du Carrousel has been under the wing of Anthony & Sam Freedman. Capable of delivering a strong performance here.

GET ON - #4 Angel Capital
Angel Capital should be a standout selection for Saturday’s racing, here is why. Eased to victory in its previous race. Angel Capital raced at Caulfield, covering 1400m and finishing 1st. Carried 58.5kg with Ben Melham aboard. Track was good. The barrier draw looks ideal for this runner. Jockey Ben Melham will ride this runner. This jockey is known for his ability to time the run perfectly. Angel Capital presents from the prestigious C W McDonald Stable. Yet to win at this trip (1600m) - will need to prove itself. I think it will. A standout on good tracks, this runner has built an impressive record. Performed well on good surfaces, winning 3 times from 4 starts. In the right race to make its presence felt.

THREAT - #12 Sepals
Sepals should be a smart each-way option with the potential to return a good payday. This runner delivered in style last start and could go back-to-back. Sepals competed at Flemington over 1400m, finishing 1st. Jumped from barrier 1, carried 56kg, and was ridden by Blake Shinn. In the saddle will be Blake Shinn on Saturday. They are a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. Has been trained by C I Brown and comes off some nice runs. Flawless here at Flemington - this is its happy place, it seems. A high strike rate suggests this one knows how to find the line. Could run a big race.

ROUGHIE - #2 Savaglee
Savaglee is not among the favourites but has the ability to cause an upset. Finished third in the previous run, maintaining strong momentum. Last start performance, Savaglee placed 3rd over 1400m at Te Rapa. Carried 55.5kg, guided by S C Spratt, and started at $5.70. The draw could be tricky but not impossible to overcome. At this stage, Michael Dee is listed to ride his on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Trainer Ms P Gerard has given him the all clear to run on Saturday. A proven competitor with a fair winning percentage. A dark horse in this race, could cause an upset.

GET ON - #13 El Morzillo
For my Saturday best bets, I like the chances of El Morzillo for good reason. A finish outside the top four in its last race, but potential remains for a better showing next time. Last time out, El Morzillo competed over 1100m, placing 5th at Sunshine Coast. Jumped from barrier 5, carried 55kg, and starting price of $13.00 odds. Hasn’t won in these conditions yet but I'm not too worried. The 8 Barrier should suit this horse. On Saturday, Craig Williams will get to ride this one. A strong run between these two will be key. Looks primed for a big effort.

THREAT - #2 Gatsby's
At generous odds, Gatsby's could be the value pick of the day. Claimed third place last start, running on well to the line. An outside gate could see it settle in a handy position. Jockey Damian Lane gets the ride on Saturday. They're a talented jockey with a pretty good race sense. With a pretty good bloodline, I think this horse can make this a day to remember. The distance is a bit of query as it hasn't won before over 1200m, but this could be the race. Hasn’t won at Flemington yet, but might be ready to change that. Can have mixed form, but has shown it can win. Will be running on.

ROUGHIE - #1 Odinson
Odinson could shake things up if it runs to its best. Closed off powerfully for second place in the last race. Last start performance, Odinson placed 2nd over 1100m at Caulfield Heath. Carried 59kg, guided by Jaylah Kennedy, and started at $5.00. Has the speed to make use of an inside barrier. On board Odinson will be Jamie Melham, one of my favourite jockeys to bet on. Trained by Ciaron Maher. Has won at this trip before, can do it again I think. Has experience at this distance, winning at Doomben last year.Might surprise a few here.
