Liverpool stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League standings even further last weekend, with an easy win against Southampton while Arsenal draw extending the gap to 15 points. Further down, competition for spots in the top five tightened even further, with just a game now separating Manchester City in 5th from Bournemouth in 9th. It will be a fascinating last ten weeks in the Premier League, and it continues with eight games this weekend. Check out all of our EPL tips and predictions for Matchweek 29 below.

Everton vs West Ham
Everton was unable to keep their hot streak going last weekend and will be disappointed to only come away with one point against the Wolves, particularly after opening up a 1-0 lead in the first half. That made it three draws in a row, but also marked eight consecutive games without a loss in the Premier League – not bad for a side battling to avoid relegation just a couple of months ago.
Sitting right alongside them on 33 points is West Ham, fresh off a 1-0 loss to Newcastle. That ended a two-game winning streak but continued what has been a competitive stretch of games for the 16th ranked side, who have won two and lost one of their last six, all those losses coming by a solitary goal. Their games have been dour affairs of late and that may well continue this weekend, with Everton just creeping past them at home.

Manchester City vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Manchester City’s erratic form continued last weekend when they went down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, marking six games in a row in which they have traded wins for losses. Back on their home turf they will be hoping that trend continues this weekend and they can get straight back on the winners’ list, but the visitors will not make life easy for them.
Brighton have now won four Premier League games on the trot and six overall (two FA Cup wins included in that), that streak moving them up to 7th and just a point behind their opponents this week in 5th, and within reach of Chelsea in 4th this weekend too. There is a lot on the line in this game, and with competition for Champions and Europa League spots set to be very hot over the remaining weeks of the year, this clash could have major implications for both teams. Expect a hard-fought battle at Etihad Stadium, and at its conclusion these two sides may have to settle for a draw.

Ipswich Town vs Nottingham Forest
It’s now been nine Premier League games since Ipswich Town got a win, with seven losses and two draws during that period likely stamping their relegation papers. Of course, they won’t be thinking that way just yet – they are only two games behind the Wolves with ten to go, and with just a solitary win they could change their situation very quickly. Unfortunately, it is not easy to see where that win is coming from, and this week it certainly doesn’t look likely.
Nottingham Forest have no doubt faltered a little over recent weeks, but they negotiated a difficult last three games reasonably well, losing by a goal to Newcastle, drawing with Arsenal and then last weekend beating Manchester City to remain inside the top three. With a stack of teams lining up not far behind them, they need to keep winning to retain a Champions League spot, and this weekend they shouldn’t have too many problems doing that against the third-bottom side.

Southampton vs Wolverhampton
What a thriller this will be, with the dead-last Southampton taking on the 17th-placed Wolves. Southampton suffered their fourth consecutive defeat by multiple goals at the weekend, though a 3-1 loss to Liverpool was a lot better than it could have been. In fairness they have actually had a pretty tough run of games, all four of those coming against sides inside the top 9, so theoretically this is a bit of a breather for them.
But while the Wolves aren’t a patch on the sides Southampton have played over the last month, they are actually in decent form. They have split their last five games 2-1-2, and were solid in coming from behind to draw with Everton last weekend without their best player in Matheus Cunha. Unfortunately he will once again miss this one which may well give Southampton a chance, but in a low-scoring affair the visitors will be expecting to get the job done to further distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Bournemouth vs Brentford
If you need an indication of just how tight the Premier League race for top five spots is, Bournemouth dropping from 6th to 9th over the weekend despite securing a 2-2 draw against Tottenham is it. Each of Newcastle, Brighton and Aston Villa scooted past them with wins, but victory this weekend could theoretically see Bournemouth just as quickly scoot right back to 6th and even potentially 5th.
Brentford will be out to stop them, eager to bounce back after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Villa last weekend. They slipped to 12th with that result, too far back to realistically threaten for any important spots up the top of the standings but well and truly clear of the relegation zone. They have been a high-scoring team this season, scoring and conceding the fourth most goals in the league, and Bournemouth have been dangerous offensively, so expect at least a couple of goals in this one, and the home side to come out on top.

Fulham vs Tottenham
Fulham are in an interesting spot with ten games to go in the season. They are 10th and a step behind the top few teams in ability, but only 5 points separates them from Manchester City in 5th. Three wins in four games prior to their latest outing saw them climb steadily up the standings, but a devastating 98th minute penalty to Brighton last week saw that climb halted – at least for the moment.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have been in solid recent form in what has been a disappointing season, and they enjoyed another solid result on the weekend when they came back from two goals down 65 minutes into their game against Bournemouth to draw 2-2. They are riding a nice little wave of momentum and will keep Fulham honest in this game, and though the home team are expected to win it would be no surprise to see them split the points.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
It was never going to be easy for Arsenal to adapt to Kai Havertz’ season-ending injury, and their subsequent lack of firepower upfront has been palpable over the past three games. They have scored just a solitary goal in the Premier League in that time – though just to completely disprove my point, they did manage seven in their Champions League game against PSV. Still, they’re clearly hampered offensively, and it won’t be easy to score against a Chelsea team coming off consecutive clean sheets.
Admittedly those were against the bottom two teams, and prior to that run Chelsea had lost three of four games. They have, of course, been ravaged by injury themselves, but like Arsenal still find themselves inside the top four. This is a huge, huge game for both teams, in particular Chelsea, who will be anxiously looking over their shoulder at the raft of teams ready to snap up their spot inside the top four if they falter. Expect goals to be tough to come by in this pivotal game, and it would be no surprise to see one of them enough to secure the victory. But in a low-scoring affair, we are tipping these two teams to share the points.

Leicester City vs Manchester United
Speaking of teams struggling to score, no side is as impotent offensively as Leicester City at the moment. A 1-0 loss to Chelsea last weekend was far from a disaster, but it marked an incredible fifth consecutive Premier League game without a goal – as well as five consecutive losses and 12 in their last 13 games.
In what has been a tough season for Manchester United, they could really use a win, and this is about as good an opportunity as you can get in this league to get one. The Red Devils have actually been a little better of late, picking up a win and two draws from their last three games, and while they have nothing tangible to gain from the rest of the season, this is still a significant game to satiate a supporter base accustomed to far more success than what they have got this season. A lot of our EPL tips on Leicester games recently have centred around them failing to score, and to some pretty good success. Don’t expect too many goals in this one, but the visitors should be able to get at least one or two past the post to pick up the three points.
