AFL 2025 Round 14 – Betting tips & Predictions

AFL 2025 Round 14
Round 14 action kicks off on Thursday when the Saints face off against the Bulldogs. The Magpies are still sitting on the top of the ladder after their win last time out, with 44 points. On the flip side, the Eagles remain at the bottom of the ladder and they still have just one win to their name.
Who will come out as a winner in Round 14? Let’s get stuck into some 2025 AFL predictions for Round 14 action!

St Kilda Saints vs Western Bulldogs
We kick Round 14 off with two teams that are sitting just outside the top eight. The Saints, who are in 12th place, are up against the Bulldogs, who are sitting in ninth. The Saint notched up a much-needed win last time out over the Demons, breaking a three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have lost three of their last five and their last two in a row.
It looks like the Saints will welcome back Jack Macrae, which is a massive boost. Not to be outdone, the Bulldogs should welcome back Sam Darcy, who looks set to play his first game since Round 6. Darcy is a player who can lift an entire team and should have a major impact. Wanganeen-Milera is notching up an average of 28.4 disposals per game for the Saints and he has more than 30 in two of his last four games. There’s a little bit of value there.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Bulldogs -20.5 | $1.88 | |
| To get 30+ disposals - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera | $2.15 | |
| To get 30+ disposals - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera | $2.35 |
Predicted Squads
St Kilda Saints: I.Keeler, C.Wilkie, J.Webster, M.Windhager, N.Wanganeen-Milera, T.Travaglia, M.Wood, J.Sinclair, B.Hill, J.Higgins, J.Macrae, D.Butler, C.Sharman, A.Caminiti, M.Owens, R.Marshall, Z.Jones, J.Steele, H.Clark, R.Byrnes, H.Boxshall, M.Hall & J.Carroll
Western Bulldogs: L.Cleary, J.O’Donnell, S.Darcy, L.Bramble, R.Lobb, B.Dale, B.Williams, E.Richards, J.Freijah, R.Sanders, A.Naughton, M.Kennedy, L.Vandermeer, B.Khamis, R.West, T.English, M.Bontempelli, T.Liberatore, S.Davidson, J.Harmes, L.McNeil, A.Treloar & J.Dolan
Hawthorn Hawks vs Adelaide Crows
For the Friday game, we see two teams who are in the top eight face off. The Hawks go up against the Crows in what looks to be a fairly even match on paper. The Hawks surprised a few with their upset victory over the Bulldogs last time out, snapping a three-game losing streak. The form of the Crows continues on and they have won their last three games in a row, including last time out over the Lions.
If the Hawks can play the type of footy they did last week, they are good enough to beat this Crows team, but can they do it two games in a row? The Hawks don’t usually have a good record against top-four teams, so that’s something to consider. For two teams that I can’t split, I’ll be taking the unders for points. I expect a hard-fought slog, which usually results in a low-scoring game.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Total points - under 153.5 | $1.87 | |
| Total points - under 150.5 | $1.89 | |
| Total points - under 152.5 | $1.88 |
Predicted Squads
Hawthorn Hawks: J.Battle, T.Barrass, S.Mitchell, J.Impey, J.Weddle, K.Amon, C.Macdonald, C.Nash, H.Morrison, B.Hardwick, S.Butler, D.Moore, M.Ramsden, M.Chol, J.Gunston, L.Meek, J.Newcombe, J.Ward, J.Ginnivan, J.Worpel, M.D’Ambrosio, F.Maginness & C.Jiath
Adelaide Crows: J.Worrell, J.Butts, M.Hinge, M.Michalanney, M.Keane, R.Laird, I.Cumming, J.Dawson, D.Curtin, B.Keays, R.Thilthorpe, S.Berry, A.Neal-Bullen, T.Walker, D.Fogarty, R.O’Brien, I.Rankine, J.Soligo, J.Rachele, L.Sholl, W.Milera, L.Pedlar & B.Smith
Brisbane Lions vs GWS Giants
To kick things off on Saturday, we’re treated to another top-eight clash as the Lions welcome the Giants at the Gabba. Both teams suffered losses last time out and will be looking to get back into the winner’s circle, especially the Giants, who are vulnerable sitting seventh on the ladder. The Lions should welcome back a host of players from the last game, which is much needed.
There could be a few changes to the Giants team and all eyes will be on Toby Greene to see if he can overcome a bad cork. The Giants have potential and they’ve shown glimpses of it so far this season, but I think the Lions will be too good for them to overcome, especially considering they are playing at home. I’m not saying the Lions will completely run away with it, but it should be comfortable enough.
Predicted Squads
Brisbane Lions: D.Zorko, J.Payne, R.Lester, N.Answerth, H.Andrews, D.Wilmot, J.Fletcher, H.McCluggage, Z.Bailey, C.Cameron, E.Hipwood, W.Ashcroft, C.Rayner, L.Morris, C.Ah Chee, D.Fort, J.Dunkley, L.Neale, K.Lohmann, J.Berry, L.Ashcroft, O.McInerney & D.Robertson
GWS Giants: C.Idun, S.Taylor, L.Aleer, J.Wehr, J.Buckley, L.Ash, H.Himmelberg, T.Bedford, J.Kelly, H.Thomas, A.Cadman, D.Jones, C.Brown, J.Hogan, T.Greene, N.Madden, L.Whitfield, T.Green, X.O’Halloran, F.Callaghan, J.Riccardi, J.Fonti & B.Daniels
Essendon Bombers vs Geelong Cats
A team outside the top-eight against a top-four team. Can the Bombers cause an almighty upset? Or, will the Cats run riot with this one? Sam Durham will spend two weeks on the sidelines for the Bombers in what is becoming a long list of players out of contention. Most notably, Bailey Smith could come back into the lineup for the Cats, but the team is taking a cautious approach.
The Cats have dominated this match-up in recent times and they have won seven games in a row against the Bombers. Most of the games haven’t even been close either, including wins by 45 and 77 in their last two matches. The Cats have won their last four games in a row and by big enough margins as well. I think more of the same is in order again on Saturday.
Predicted Squads
Essendon Bombers: A.McGrath, J.Laverde, A.Roberts, Z.Johnson, L.Lual, J.Prior, X.Duursma, Z.Merrett, A.Clarke, A.Perkins, N.Caddy, N.Martin, B.Hobbs, P.Wright, I.Kako, T.Goldstein, J.Caldwell, E.Tsatas, D.Parish, J.Gresham, W.Setterfield, M.Guelfi & A.Day-Wicks
Geelong Cats: C.O’Sullivan, S.De Koning, J.Henry, Z.Guthrie, M.O’Connor, T.Stewart, M.Blicavs, M.Holmes, O.Dempsey, G.Miers, S.Neale, B.Close, S.Mannagh, J.Cameron, P.Dangerfield, R.Stanley, T.Clohesy, T.Atkins, L.Humphries, O.Mullin, T.Stengle, J.Martin & O.Henry
North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Fremantle Dockers
We head to Perth for this Saturday night clash against the Kangaroos and Dockers. It wasn’t pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but the Kangaroos got the win over the Eagles last time out 62-52 and they have now won two of their last three games. Their two wins have come over poor teams though and now they face the Dockers, who are starting to build.
The Dockers have managed to climb into the top eight, thanks to three wins in a row over the Suns, Power and Giants. They also had the bye last week, so they come into this clash with fresh legs and they could spell even more danger for the Kangaroos. The Dockers have won four of the last five games against the Kangaroos and this really does look like an uphill battle for the team sitting in 16th place.
Predicted Squads
North Melbourne Kangaroos: K.Dawson, T.Pink, G.Logue, R.Hardeman, C.Daniel, L.McDonald, D.Stephens, L.Davies-Uniacke, J.Simpkin, T.Powell, N.Larkey, C.McKercher, P.Curtis, J.Darling, C.Zurhaar, T.Xerri, G.Wardlaw, H.Sheezel, F.O’Sullivan, Z.Fisher, L.Parker, J.Konstanty & R.Hansen Jr
Fremantle Dockers: L.Ryan, J.Draper, B.Cox, H.Chapman, K.Worner, J.Clark, J.Sharp, S.Bolton, M.Johnson, M.Frederick, S.Switkowski, M.Reid, P.Voss, J.Treacy, J.Amiss, L.Jackson, C.Serong, A.Brayshaw, N.Erasmus, C.Wagner, S.Darcy, B.Banfield & N.Fyfe
Port Adelaide Power vs Melbourne Demons
On paper, there’s not exactly a lot to get excited about in this game that opens up Sunday play when we see the 15th-placed Power face off against the 14th-placed Demons. The Power did get a statement win last time out after being written off by a lot of people, so that is something for their home fans to get excited about. They beat the Giants last time out 66-50 and Jason Horne-Francis looks set to return for the home team as well.
On the Demon’s side of things, they suffered a heartbreaking loss last time out to the ladder-leading Magpies, going down by just one point. They are on the quick turnaround here, but they might be welcoming back Jack Viney. I have to give the slight edge to the Power, playing at home and they should be buoyed by their victory in Canberra against the Giants in Round 13.
Predicted Squads
Port Adelaide Power: B.Zerk-Thatcher, E.Ratugolea, M.Bergman, K.Farrell, A.Aliir, J.Sinn, J.Burgoyne, W.Drew, J.Horne-Francis, D.Byrne-Jones, J.Finlayson, O.Wines, W.Rioli, M.Georgiades, S.Powell-Pepper, D.Visentini, C.Rozee, Z.Butters, R.Burton, H.Jackson, J.Richards, T.Boak & C.Moraes
Melbourne Demons: J.Bowey, S.May, C.Salem, B.Howes, J.Lever, J.Viney, K.Chandler, C.Petracca, E.Langdon, H.Langford, B.Fritsch, T.Sparrow, J.Melksham, H.Petty, K.Pickett, M.Gawn, C.Oliver, T.Rivers, J.McVee, D.Turner, J.van Rooyen, K.Tholstrup & C.Windsor
West Coast Eagles vs Carlton Blues
For the final game of Round 14, we head to Optus Stadium to see the Eagles up against the Blues. The Eagles have still only notched up one win to their name and sit in last place on the ladder. The Blues have lost three of their last five and sit in 11th place. It was a close game last time out for the Eagles, losing by 10 points to the Kangaroos, who sit near them on the ladder. Meanwhile, the Blues got a much-needed win over the Bombers in their last game.
This game is a must-win if the Blues want to start pushing up and crack the top eight. With the way the Eagles have been playing as of late, the Blues don’t just need the win, they need a big statement win to silence the critics, for one week at least. Could this be the win that ignites the Blue’s season? Only time will tell, but I think they’ll get a comfortable win here.
Predicted Squads
West Coast Eagles: R.Ginbey, H.Edwards, T.Cole, L.Duggan, S.Brock, L.Baker, J.Hunt, H.Reid, J.Hutchinson, J.Graham, A.Reid, J.Cripps, E.Hewett, O.Allen, L.Ryan, M.Flynn, B.Hough, T.Kelly, T.Brockman, R.Maric, J.Williams, T.Dewar & B.Allan
Carlton Blues: N.Haynes, J.Weitering, A.Saad, J.Silvagni, M.McGovern, O.Hollands, S.Docherty, P.Cripps, B.Acres, C.Lord, L.Fogarty, J.Motlop, S.Walsh, C.Curnow, Z.Williams, T.De Koning, A.Cerra, G.Hewett, M.Carroll, O.Fantasia, A.Cincotta, H.O’Keeffe & W.White
