AFL 2025 Round 13 – Betting tips & Predictions

AFL 2025 Round 13
Round 13 action kicks off on Thursday when the Bulldogs face off against the Hawks. The Magpies are still sitting pretty on the top of the ladder, with 40 points. On the flip side, the Eagles currently hold the wooden spoon and only notched up one win so far this season.

Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn Hawks
The Bulldogs and Hawks kick things off on Thursday night. The Hawks sit in sixth position on the ladder, but they are sliding and have lost three games in a row now, which includes losses to the Magpies, Lions and Suns. The Bulldogs are also coming off a loss last time out, but they did have their bye last round, so they should come into this one with fresh legs.
Adam Treloar could return for the Bulldogs and for the Hawks, it looks like they are set to lose skipper James Sicily for two weeks or more. The Hawks have won the last three games against the Bulldogs, but with the way they have been playing, it’s difficult to back them again here. The Bulldogs seem to be the more consistent team here and I’ll be playing it safe, taking the Bulldogs for the outright win.
Predicted Squads
Western Bulldogs: L.Cleary, J.O’Donnell, T.Duryea, J.Johannisen, R.Lobb, B.Dale, B.Williams, E.Richards, J.Freijah, J.Harmes, B.Khamis, M.Kennedy, R.Sanders, A.Naughton, R.West, T.English, M.Bontempelli, T.Liberatore, A.Treloar, S.Davidson, L.McNeil, L.Vandermeer & L.Bramble
Hawthorn Hawks: J.Battle, T.Barrass, S.Mitchell, C.Jiath, B.Hardwick, M.D’Ambrosio, K.Amon, J.Ward, H.Morrison, J.Weddle, N.Watson, D.Moore, J.Ginnivan, M.Chol, J.Gunston, L.Meek, J.Newcombe, J.Worpel, J.Scrimshaw, C.Nash, J.Impey, C.Macdonald & F.Maginness
Adelaide Crows vs Brisbane Lions
This looks to be one of the games of the round as we see the third-placed Crows welcome the second-placed Lions to Adelaide Oval. The Crows are flying high at the moment, coming off their biggest win of the season last time out against the Swans, 131-41. They have now won four of their last five games, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Magpies, 68-78.
The Lions got the win over the Bombers last week 90-72, taking their win streak out to two in a row. Oscar McInerney could also return for the Lions in the match, so watch out for that. The Lions always seem to put in their best performances against tough teams, so I think they can upset the Crows at home. Will Ashcroft is also one to watch for disposals as he is averaging 27.3 disposals per game.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Lions +8.5 | $1.88 | |
| To get 30+ disposals - Will Ashcroft | $2.55 | |
| To get 30+ disposals - Will Ashcroft | $2.70 |
Predicted Squads
Adelaide Crows: J.Worrell, J.Butts, M.Hinge, R.Laird, M.Keane, W.Milera, I.Cumming, J.Dawson, D.Curtin, B.Keays, R.Thilthorpe, J.Rachele, A.Neal-Bullen, T.Walker, D.Fogarty, R.O’Brien, I.Rankine, J.Soligo, J.Peatling, S.Berry, M.Michalanney, L.Pedlar & S.Draper
Brisbane Lions: D.Zorko, J.Payne, R.Lester, N.Answerth, H.Andrews, D.Wilmot, J.Fletcher, H.McCluggage, Z.Bailey, C.Cameron, E.Hipwood, W.Ashcroft, C.Rayner, L.Morris, C.Ah Chee, O.McInerney, J.Dunkley, L.Neale, K.Lohmann, J.Berry, L.Ashcroft, D.Gardiner & D.Robertson
Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans
The Tigers and Swans are sitting near each other on the ladder and will do battle at the MCG on Saturday afternoon. The last game both these teams played was heartbreaking for fans, for completely different reasons. The Tigers were leading for the majority of the match against the Giants, only to go down in the dying stages. For the Swans, they suffered their biggest defeat of the year against the Crows, 41-131.
There was clearly fight in the Tigers last time out, but my question is - can they back up that performance again? The Swans have been very shaky all season, but if they can put it all together, they can run away with this. The Swans are capable of a bounce-back performance and it’s difficult to see them going down like that twice in a row. I’ll be taking the Swans to win outright, just to be safe.
Predicted Squads
Richmond Tigers: B.Miller, C.Gray, N.Broad, N.Balta T.Brown, N.Vlastuin, S.Banks, D.Prestia, H.Ralphsmith, J.Ross, S.Campbell, R.Mansell, T.Sims, T.Lynch, J.Faull, T.Nankervis, T.Taranto, J.Hopper, K.Smith, K.McAuliffe, T.Sonsie, S.Green & K.McIntosh
Sydney Swans: L.Melican, T.McCartin, D.Rampe, M.Roberts, N.Blakey, J.McInerney, J.Lloyd, I.Heeney, Co.Warner, B.Campbell, J.Hamling, J.Jordon, W.Hayward, H.McLean, T.Adams, B.Grundy, Ch.Warner, J.Rowbottom, C.Mills, C.Mitchell, A.Sheldrick, P.Ladhams & C.Cleary
Geelong Cats vs Gold Coast Suns
This looks to be one of the more important games of the round! Two top-eight teams will battle it out on Saturday when we see the Cats welcome the Suns to GMHBA Stadium. The Cats should welcome back Patrick Dangerfield in what will be a massive boost to their lineup. This will be a difficult one for the Suns as the road trip does them no favours and they meet the Cats who have won four of their last five.
The Cats know what it takes to win and can turn things up another level when needed. I think the Suns will give them a run for their money, but on the road, this looks a tricky one. I’m expecting a win for the Cats, but the Suns are good enough to keep this one to keep this one relatively close. With both teams on 32 points, the winner will look to move into the top four.
Predicted Squads
Geelong Cats: C.O’Sullivan, S.De Koning, J.Henry, Z.Guthrie, T.Stewart, M.O’Connor, M.Blicavs, M.Holmes, O.Dempsey, G.Miers, S.Mannagh, B.Close, S.Neale, J.Cameron, T.Stengle, R.Stanley, B.Smith, T.Atkins, L.Humphries, O.Mullin, O.Henry, M.Duncan & P.Dangerfield
Gold Coast Suns: B.Uwland, M.Andrew, S.Collins, J.Noble, W.Powell, D.Rioli, S.Clohesy, M.Rowell, B.Fiorini, B.Ainsworth, S.Flanders, T.Miller, B.Long, J.Walter, B.King, J.Witts, B.Humphrey, N.Anderson, N.Holman, E.Read, L.Lombard, J.Jeffrey & D.Swallow
GWS Giants vs Port Adelaide Power
What a comeback by the Giants last time out? They managed to sneak through with the four premiership points thanks to an 80-77 victory over the Tigers last round. On the flip side, the Power’s slide continues and they have now lost their last four games in a row. The Giants have lost Callan Ward to an ACL injury, which puts his AFL career in limbo.
This looks to be an easy game for the Giants and I don’t think they’ll allow another scare like they did in their previous game. They are currently sitting in the top eight and want to keep it that way. For the Giants, Jesse Hogan had a rare off game from a scoring perspective last time out, but he sits four overall for goals kicked in the league this season. He’ll be out to prove a point in this one.
Predicted Squads
GWS Giants: C.Idun, S.Taylor, L.Aleer, L.Whitfield, J.Buckley, L.Ash, H.Himmelberg, J.Kelly, H.Rowston, H.Thomas, A.Cadman, D.Jones, C.Brown, J.Hogan, T.Greene, K.Briggs, T.Bedford, T.Green, X.O’Halloran, J.Fonti, J.Riccardi, C.Angove & T.McMullin
Port Adelaide Power: L.Evans, A.Aliir, M.Bergman, C.Rozee, B.Zerk-Thatcher, R.Burton, W.Drew, O.Wines, J.Burgoyne, D.Byrne-Jones, M.Georgiades, T.Boak, S.Powell-Pepper, O.Lord, J.Richards, D.Visentini, J.Mead, Z.Butters, R.Atkins, J.Finlayson, C.Moraes, W.Rioli & H.Jackson
North Melbourne Kangaroos vs West Coast Eagles
We head over to Hands Oval in Bunbury for this bottom-of-the-table clash between the Kangaroos and the Eagles. They may occupy the bottom two positions on the ladder, but there’s no doubt that the Kangaroos look to be the better of the two teams. I’ve seen glimpses of a good Kangaroos team and while the Eagles have had their moments, their second-half push isn’t good enough to see them over the line here.
The Kangaroos and Eagles played each other in the pre-season and it was the Eagles that got the win. The Eagles have also won three of the last five clashes in the regular season against the Kangaroos. All games were close though, with margins of 15, five, five, nine and five in their last five games. Keep things simple, take the Kangaroos to win outright and bag the four premiership points.
Predicted Squads
North Melbourne Kangaroos: C.Comben, T.Pink, A.Corr, R.Hardeman, C.Daniel, H.Sheezel, D.Stephens, L.Davies-Uniacke, J.Simpkin, P.Curtis, N.Larkey, C.McKercher, F.Maley, J.Darling, C.Zurhaar, T.Xerri, G.Wardlaw, T.Powell, F.O’Sullivan, L.McDonald, L.Parker, J.Konstanty & Z.Fisher
West Coast Eagles: R.Maric, H.Edwards, R.Ginbey, L.Duggan, S.Brock, L.Baker, J.Hutchinson, T.Kelly, J.Hunt, J.Graham, A.Reid, E.Hewett, T.Brockman, O.Allen, L.Ryan, M.Flynn, B.Hough, H.Reid, N.Long, T.Cole, J.Williams, T.Dewar & B.Allan
Carlton Blues vs Essendon Bombers
Fresh off their bye, the Blues could welcome back a host of players in this match against the Bombers at the MCG. The two fierce rivals are both sitting outside the top eight, but a win here would do a lot for improving their chances of eventually climbing into a coveted position in the top eight. The Blues have lost two games in a row now, to the Giants and the Swans.
Meanwhile, the Bombers went down last time out to the Lions, 72-90, but they have won three of their last five games. The Bombers did keep things close with the Lions but a final push from the Lions in the final quarter sealed their fate. I think the Bombers are good enough to win this one, but as the underdogs, I’ll be playing it safe and taking them to cover the generous spread that is currently on offer.
Predicted Squads
Carlton Blues: L.Young, J.Weitering, A.Saad, O.Hollands, J.Silvagni, M.McGovern, S.Walsh, P.Cripps, B.Acres, C.Durdin, C.Curnow, C.Lord, L.Fogarty, H.McKay, J.Motlop, T.De Koning, A.Cerra, G.Hewett, N.Haynes, M.Carroll, S.Docherty, W.White & J.Binns
Essendon Bombers: A.McGrath, J.Laverde, A.Roberts, Z.Johnson, M.Redman, J.Prior, Z.Duursma, Z.Merrett, A.Clarke, A.Perkins, N.Caddy, N.Martin, B.Hobbs, P.Wright, I.Kako, T.Goldstein, J.Caldwell, S.Durham, J.Gresham, W.Setterfield, M.Guelfi, A.Day-Wicks & E.Tsatas
Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Magpies
It’s the King’s Birthday clash at the MCG and the two teams are playing as well as their position on the ladder. The Demons are currently sitting in 12th position and the Magpies are leading the way in first. The Demons have been improving as of late, winning three of their last five and if they converted some of their behinds to goals last time out against the Saints, they would have been in that game up to their eyeballs.
The Magpies have won their last four games in a row but will be without Patrick Lipinski and Lachie Schultz for this clash. I’m expecting the Magpies to pile on the pressure early and never give the Demons a chance to get in this match. The Magpies are the better team and they’ll win this one fairly comfortably, covering the spread while they are at it.
Predicted Squads
Melbourne Demons: J.Bowey, S.May, C.Salem, C.Windsor, J.Lever, X.Lindsay, K.Chandler, C.Petracca, E.Langdon, H.Langford, B.Fritsch, T.Sparrow, J.Melksham, H.Petty, K.Pickett, M.Gawn, C.Oliver, T.Rivers, J.McVee, D.Turner, H.Sharp, M.Jefferson & B.Laurie
Collingwood Magpies: J.Howe, B.Frampton, J.Daicos, I.Quaynor, D.Moore, D.Houston, J.Crisp, S.Pendlebury, M.Cox, B.Hill, T.Membrey, B.McCreery, J.Elliott, B.Mihocek, H.DeMattia, D.Cameron, N.Long, N.Daicos, H.Perryman, E.Allan, S.Sidebottom, W.Hoskin-Elliott & L.Sullivan
