AFL Best Tips and Multi Bet of the Weekend | Opening Round

It’s the most wonderful time of the year - footy season! The AFL is back and while it may only be two games, it’s two more than we were getting before. A couple of intriguing games await us and I’ve pulled some AFL multi tips from both of them. By free AFL multi has landed at MyBettingAustralia.

March 7th, 7.40pm, SCG

The Swans at home should be easy right? Well, no. They have injuries to key players and I doubt they will be able to get off to the cracking start they did this time last year. I like the look of the Hawks as the underdogs to get the win, but it won’t be easy.

With the injuries and the uncertainty, it’s looking like under total points may be the way to go. At Betfocus, the total points line is currently 170.5 @ $1.87 and for my first leg, I’ll be jumping on that. The Swans put the sword to the Hawks last season, but points seemed to be at a premium.

March 7th, 7.40pm, SCG 

With only two games to be played during the Opening Round, my second AFL multi tip comes from the Swans vs Hawks game. As I previously mentioned, the Swans have a lot of key players out. I think this will be a fairly close game, unlike previous meetings, so with the Hawks match handicap currently sitting at +1.5 with Betfocus @ $1.88, that seems like another good option to me.

March 9th, 3.20pm, Engie Stadium

We are treated early in the season to the 2024 Preliminary Final rematch when the Magpies head to Sydney to face off against the Giants. The Giants will be looking for revenge here after letting the lead slip and losing by one point in that game.

I’m surprised the Giants are the underdogs here and I think they’ll win so taking them at the match handicap was a no-brainer. I think Toby Greene has a field day in front of his home crowd (he scored 44 goals last year, equal 11th on the all-time goals list for 2024) and a win against the match handicap for the Giants is in order. Betfocus currently has +6.5 for the Giants @ $1.88.
