NRL Multi Bet of the Weekend

Round 21 is done and dusted and what a round it was! The Roosters dominated the Titans, while the Knights upset the Storm and the Sea Eagles beat the Sharks. Our multi of the week lost on its last leg, with the Sharks falling short by 4-points, due to an abysmal first half. We are back this week with MyBettingAustralia’s NRL Multi of the week and we have found some value across Betting Sites on the Knights, Sea Eagles and Cowboys.

Canberra Raiders vs Newcastle Knights

July 28th 15:00, GIO Stadium

For our first leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Raiders hosting the Knights. Despite losing last week, the Raiders sit in 5th spot and have won 7 of their last 10 games. The Knights sit in 10th spot, winning their last 3 games by a combined 90 points, including a victory against the Storm. Kalyn Ponga struggled through the early portion of the season, playing five-eighth, an unfavored position for him and he suffered a few head knocks, disrupting his season. However, since a shift to fullback in Round 13, him and the Knights have been absolutely on fire. They have either won or been competitive in every game played, only losing to the Broncos, Roosters and Panthers, 3 top clubs on their day by a combined 14 points.

While the Knights have lost multiple close games, the Raiders have had an incredible ability to win close games. They hold an impressive 11-7 record, winning 7 of their last 10, yet somehow their biggest winning margin is 10 points. I think the Raiders are lucky to be sitting where they are, and when playing like this the Knights are a better side. That’s why I am taking the Knights +6.5 @1.68 on Bet365.

St George-Illawarra Dragons vs Manly Sea Eagles

July 29th, 17:30, WIN Stadium

For our second leg of the multi of the week, we look at the Dragons hosting the Sea Eagles. Both sides are coming off wins last week, against the Tigers and Sharks respectively. The Dragons win pushes them 2 wins ahead of bottom place, yet still 4 wins behind 8th spot, effectively leaving them with little to play for. The Sea Eagles’ win puts them just 1 point behind finals footy, making a win this week crucial. The Sea Eagles showed glimpses of what they can do last week, particularly in the first half, where they beat the Sharks 24-0.

The Sea Eagles right edge of DCE, Olakau’atu, Koula and Saab were particularly threatening last week, and seeing as the Dragons concede a whopping 56% of tries down their left edge, I can see Manly’s right edge having a field day. I think Manly are the far better side here, more desperate for a win and that’s why I am taking Manly to win @1.50 on PlayUp.

Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys

July 30th, 16:05, Cbus Super Stadium

For our final leg of the multi we see the Titans hosting the Cowboys. The Titans were outclassed by Tedesco and the Roosters, slipping back to 14th spot after 4 straight losses, while the Cowboys beat the Eels to climb to 7th spot on the back of a 6-game win streak. The Cowboys really struggled early in the season after an unlikely top 4 finish last year, and many said that last year was luck. However, they have found their mojo again, looking tough in defense and electric in attack. Their spine of Drinkwater, Dearden, Townsend, Robson and Cotter is one of the best in the competition, bolstered a backline including Holmes and Taulagi. The Cowboys are willing to shift the ball early and often, with Dearden and Drinkwater taking on the line at will and terrorizing defenses. The Cowboys are one of the scariest teams in the competition right now and will be eager to keep this winning run up, as they are still only 2 points ahead of 9th spot.

The Titans on the other hand are struggling, losing 4 in a row. Things are made worse as they are without Tino for due to a suspension. Tino and Fifita have been incredible this season for the Titans and last week really showed how much they miss Tino with the Roosters putting 30 points on them in the first half. With the Titans depleted, their season all but over and coming up against an inform Cowboys, I have to take the Cowboys -2.5 @1.50 on PlayUp.
