Dream season continues for Kobbie Mainoo

The conveyor belt of talent within the English game continues to churn out superb footballers and Kobbie Mainoo looks to be the next cab off the rank.

Manchester United have been entrusting Mainoo to hold the fort in the centre of their midfield, something he has done with aplomb, and he is now in the England fold as a result.

The 2023/24 campaign has been broadly forgettable for Manchester United, who still struggle to compete with the big boys in the Premier League.

However, injuries to key men such as Christian Eriksen and Casemiro led manager Erik ten Hag to entrust Mainoo in the hustle and bustle of the Manchester United midfield, a role he has seemingly reveled in.

Despite plenty of worrying results taking place at Manchester United over the course of the season, 2024 has been seen as a bit of a turning point within the calendar for the club.

New ownership brought about a sense of optimism with many EPL betting sites that United could return to former glories.

Making it onto the plane for Euro 2024 still seems a long shot for Kobbie Mainoo with many punters and betting sites but stranger things have certainly happened.

A loss of form for Kalvin Phillips has seen him ousted from the England set up, with a place in the holding midfield role up for grabs and Mainoo could have timed his run to perfection. 

Major tournament football always creates a hype like no other and Kobbie Mainoo is the headline act in Gareth Southgate’s most recent England squad.

The 18-year-old has been on fire for Manchester United and he will be looking to impress against Brazil and Belgium and book his place onto the plane for Euro 2024.
