Sepals is rated as the best bet of the day, let me tell you why. Showed class and determination to win last race. Last start performance, Sepals placed 1st over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside. Carried 58kg, guided by Jamie Mott, and started at $2.40. Drawn well in a barrier that should provide a good run. On board Sepals will be Blake Shinn, one of my favourite jockeys to bet on. Sepals presents from the prestigious C I Brown Stable. Unbeaten at this trip - knows exactly how to get the job done over 1400m. Has handled heavier weight in the past and still performed well. Watch out for it.

THREAT - #3 Royal Insignia
I think Royal Insignia is flying under the radar and could deliver at juicy odds. Put in a strong last-start performance to grab the victory. Last start, Royal Insignia finished in the placings over 1200m at Sandown-Lakeside on 25/01/2025. Carried 57kg under Jamie Mott, started at $7.50. Track rated good. A favourable gate could give it a tactical advantage. Connections will get to witness their horse racing with Craig Williams in the saddle on Saturday. This jockey has plenty of wins under their belt. This runner comes from the G M Begg Stable. This horse has made a habit of performing well on good ground. Has raced 4 times on good tracks, winning 75% of them. Carries a competitive weight, which could be a key factor. One to respect, has the ability to surprise.

ROUGHIE - #6 Feroce
Feroce is a roughie with the potential to surprise at big odds. A fighting third last start, sticking on gamely in the final stages. Feroce ran at Flemington on 02/11/2024, finishing 3rd in a 1600m event. Jockey W Egan was aboard, carrying 57kg. Track was rated good. An inside gate could see it settle in a handy position. Jockey Billy Egan will ride this runner. This jockey is known for his ability to time the run perfectly. Trainer Dominic Sutton is confident that he can run well. Hasn’t cracked this distance yet, but stranger things have happened. A light weight gives it an extra edge over the competition. Not to be overlooked, this one’s got form.

GET ON - #11 Switzerland
Switzerland is carrying high expectations but I think it can deliver. Strong finishing effort led to a win last time out. Last outing, Switzerland took on a 1200m race at Flemington and finished 1st. Carried 57kg, started at $5.50, and handled a good surface. A perfect barrier for this horse’s running style. This Saturday, James McDonald will be in the saddle and ready for a win. This race looks suitable for this tactical rider. Switzerland has been under the guidance of Chris Waller. Every time it’s lined up at this trip of 1000m, it’s delivered - big danger again. Loves this track at Flemington - unbeaten here and looking to keep it that way. The weight allocation makes this horse a strong chance. Don’t count it out, could be a big contender.

THREAT - #10 Growing Empire
Growing Empire presents excellent value for those looking beyond the favourites. Last race saw a strong third-place performance, staying competitive throughout. Growing Empire raced at Flemington, covering 1200m and finishing 3rd. Carried 57kg with M Zahra aboard. Track was good. Usually solid in these good track conditions. At this surface, has a career record of 3-2-1, including 3 victories. On Saturday, Mark Zahra will get to ride this one. A strong run between these two will be key. With a good bloodline, I think this horse can make this a day to remember. Knows the Flemington track well and has won here before. At this venue, has a career record of 1-0-1, including 1 victory. Decent career stats, capable of striking again. One for the multiples, don’t leave it out.

ROUGHIE - #12 Traffic Warden
Traffic Warden is one to watch at long odds – don’t underestimate its chances. Finished outside the top four but had moments that hinted at better performances ahead. The allocated weight should not be an issue for this runner. The barrier draw looks ideal for this runner too. Jockey Jamie Melham gets the ride on Saturday. They're a talented jockey with a nice race sense. From the James Cummings Stable, you can expect a quality horse. Flawless at this distance of 1000m - expect another bold showing. Track form stacks up - could add another win here at Flemington. At this track, holds a record of 1-0-0, with 1 win.

GET ON - #5 Cilacap
Cilacap is expected to deliver on Saturday, let's talk about her form. Dominated the field last start for a well-deserved win. Cilacap competed at Caulfield Heath over 1500m, finishing 1st. Jumped from barrier 4, carried 54kg, and was ridden by Zac Spain. Has won from similar barriers before, so should be fine. Jockey Craig Williams will be in the saddle this Saturday. Has a great winning strike rate. Has been trained by G M Begg. At this surface, has a career record of 1-0-1, including 1 victory. Wouldn’t be surprised if it finishes close.

THREAT - #2 Captured By Love
Punters searching for value should take a close look at Captured By Love. Finished outside the top four, but had some encouraging moments in the race. Captured By Love stepped out at Ellerslie, finishing 7th over 1200m. Raced on a soft surface, carrying 52.5kg under Craig Williams. Usually solid in these good track conditions. Competitive on good tracks with 3 wins. In the saddle will be Blake Shinn on Saturday. I like his chances. Trainer M W Walker has given her the all clear to run on Saturday. The distance is a bit of query as it hasn't won before over 1400m, but this could be the race. If it gets the right run, it’s in with a shot.

ROUGHIE - #4 Sneaky Sunrise
If you’re looking for a roughie, Sneaky Sunrise has some upside. Finished runner-up but wasn’t far off the winner last race. Last outing, Sneaky Sunrise took on a 1600m race at Flemington and finished 2nd. Carried 58.5kg, started at $4.00, and handled a good surface. A favourable gate could give it a tactical advantage. Sneaky Sunrise is trained by Ben, Will & JD Hayes. Has had success here (Flemington) before and could do it again. One to keep on side, has a real chance.
