I believe that Price Tag will get strong support and will be my prime Saturday bet of the day. Impressive second last start, indicating top form. Price Tag finished 2nd out of 12 runners at Sandown-Lakeside over 1000m on 25/01/2025, beaten 1.5 lengths. Sent off at $5.50, the runner carried 56kg under Tyler Schiller leaving from barrier 1. The contest was held on a good surface in Open, with My Gladiola (56kg) winning and Price Tag (56kg) finishing second.

A perfect barrier for this horse’s running style on Saturday, I think it will like it. In the saddle will be Tyler Schiller on Saturday. He is a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. Has been trained by A & S Freedman and comes off some trial runs. Still searching for that first elusive win. Has handled heavier weight in the past and still performed well. Back it to win or place.

THREAT - #2 Rivellino
Rivellino could be overlooked by some, so that offers strong value for Saturday’s races. Building on the debut experience, this second race is another chance to shine on the track for Rivellino. Coming off a strong performance in its last start. Competing at Randwick on 04/01/2025, Rivellino covered 1000m, placing 1st out of 9. The horse carried 55kg with Benjamin Osmond aboard and was by 2.0 lengths, having started at $3.60 jumping from barrier 2. The race took place on a good track in a Mdn race.

Trainer K A Lees is confident that he can run well. Unbeaten in his career and full of confidence, hard to fault. A light weight gives it an extra edge over the competition. A solid second-last race suggests Rivellino could feature here. Has won from similar barriers before, so should be fine. Could be in the mix if it finds its stride.

ROUGHIE - #1 Cobra Club
Cobra Club is worth considering for those looking to back an underdog. Cobra Club is coming off a debut performance, looking to take the next step in the second race. An eye-catching last-start run makes this horse a strong chance. Racing at Randwick on 14/12/2024, Cobra Club stepped out over 1000m, and crossed the line 2nd with a margin of 0.3 lengths. The J Parr ridden horse carried 56kg and started at $21.00 jumping from barrier 13 in a Open race racing on a good track.

Jockey Regan Bayliss will ride this runner. This jockey is known for his ability to time the run perfectly. Two starts ago, Cobra Club showed glimpses of its best form. The draw could be tricky but not impossible to overcome. I like the way it’s been going lately.

GET ON - #5 Public Attention
For my Saturday best bets, I like the chances of Public Attention for good reason. Public Attention comes back after a decent first outing, aiming to take things further in the second race. A solid last-start effort shows the horse is in good shape. Public Attention lined up at Caulfield over 1600m on 12/10/2024, claimed 5th with a margin of 2.8 lengths. Backed at $21.00, the galloper had Ethan Brown in the saddle, carried 57kg jumping from barrier 4, and competed in a Open contest racing on a good track. Private Life (57kg) secured the win, with Feroce (57kg) following in second.

Trained by M Price & M Kent Jnr. Doesn’t win that often but can surprise. Carries a competitive weight, which could be a key factor. This Saturday, Chad Schofield will be in the saddle and ready for a win. This race looks suitable for this tactical rider. Raced well in its second-last start, showing good recent form for this race. Has the speed to make use of an inside barrier.

THREAT - #3 Mayfair
I believe that Mayfair represents great value in the betting markets and could surprise. Mayfair is back from a spell and eager to improve. Finished well last time and could go one better. The weight allocation makes this horse a strong chance. At this stage, Tim Clark is listed to ride his on Saturday.

He should settle nicely into this race. Mayfair showed good early speed two starts ago and could lead in this one too. Drawn well in a barrier that should provide a good run. Expect a strong finish from this one.

ROUGHIE - #10 Snow In May
I think you should have your eyes on this outsider, here is why. Snow In May comes back after a decent first outing, aiming to take things further in the second race. Finished off the last start nicely but had excuses. At Randwick on 05/10/2024, Snow In May tackled 1600m, finished 3rd out of 6 runners, behind by 3.6 lengths. Backed at $2.60, the runner shouldered 56kg under the guidance of K Mc Evoy starting from barrier 5.

Trainer John O'Shea & Tom Charlton has given her the all clear to run on Saturday. Knows how to win but needs the right conditions. Don’t count it out, could be a big contender.

GET ON - #14 Headley Grange
Headley Grange should be a standout selection for Saturday’s racing, here is why. Headley Grange has demonstrated remarkable consistency, placing in three straight races. Ran well last start and should be in contention again. Headley Grange ran well in its second-last race and could improve in this race.

Jockey Tyler Schiller will be in the saddle this Saturday. Has a great winning strike rate. Headley Grange is trained by Joseph Pride. Carries top weight but has the class to handle it. Could be a surprise package.

THREAT - #12 Birdman
At generous odds, Birdman could be the value pick of the day. Last-start performance suggests a forward showing. At Geelong on 23/10/2024, Birdman tackled 2400m, crossed the line 10th out of 13 runners, beaten 6.3 lengths. Backed at $6.50, the runner shouldered 54kg under the guidance of Beau Mertens coming out of barrier 4. The race, contested on a good surface.

From the C J Waller Stable, you can expect a quality horse. A slight weight increase from the last start, but remains competitive. Jockey Kerrin McEvoy gets the ride on Saturday. He is a talented jockey with a good race sense. A close-up finish two starts back indicates a competitive edge for Birdman punters. The barrier draw looks ideal for this runner. I think it will run well.

ROUGHIE - #16 Aberlour
Aberlour should be a dark horse in this race. A finish outside the top four last start, but the potential remains for a better showing next time. The weight allocation gives this horse a strong chance. A bold run last time suggests another big effort is possible. Aberlour finished well two starts ago, showing good form. An inside gate could see it settle in a handy position. In the saddle will be Jay Ford on Saturday. He is a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. This runner comes from the Joseph Pride Stable. Each-way chance I reckon.
