NBA Expert Tips and Best Bets | May 1

We’ve got a pair of elimination games on the docket today. First, we’re heading to Houston, where we think the inexperience of the Rockets will show in spades and the Warriors will eliminate them. Then, we look to LA for a pair of player props as we expect Rui Hachimura to hit 2 or more threes and LeBron to reach or exceed 35 points + assists.

The Golden State Warriors have a commanding 3-1 lead after four grueling, defensively focused games against the Houston Rockets. Most of the Rockets have never been in an elimination game situation, and if this series has shown us anything, it's that experience matters massively. All of Houston’s young players have been up and down throughout the series, unable to play with consistency against the swarming Warriors defense. This inconsistency and nervousness should only be heightened now that one more loss means the end of their season. That, compared to the playoff experience of the Warriors, who will be very motivated to end the series early for some much needed rest and recovery, leads us to the Warriors ML @ $2.55 on Betfocus.

Rui Hachimura 2+ threes | $1.53 @ Betright

Los Angeles is returning home for a must-win game five after falling behind 3-1 against the Timberwolves. It’s a tough game to predict, as the Lakers will come out swinging with their backs against the wall but the Timberwolves have been the better team in the series. What’s more predictable, is Rui Hachimura’s output from beyond the arc. LeBron and Luka have shown they’re more than able to collapse Minnesota’s defense consistently. This has left Rui with many open looks, which he has capitalized on. Hachimura has made 2+ threes in three of the four games this series, and seven of their last ten overall. Given this, we like him for two or more at $1.53 in the do or die game five.

LeBron James 35+ Points + Assists | $2.05 @ PlayUp

Going back to the Lakers vs. Timberwolves matchup, we’re betting on LeBron showing up when his team needs him most. He has been in this position before, and he consistently rises to the occasion. Yes, he’s 40 years old, but he can still turn it up when he needs to as we have seen in the past two games. LeBron went for 35+ points & assists in both of those games, and now that he’s just one loss away from elimination, we don’t expect him to slow down.
