GET ON - #3 The Black Cloud

I think The Black Cloud is an excellent best bet for Saturday and let me explain why. Wasn’t far off last start, finishing in second with a strong performance. The Black Cloud stepped out at Canterbury on 09/06/2025, finishing 2nd over 1100m. Raced on a soft surface, carrying 56.5kg under Jay Ford. Not the perfect draw, but race-day tactics will be key. Tom Prebble brings solid experience to the saddle this Saturday, and their timing in races has earned them plenty of respect. This runner has been expertly prepared by Joseph Pride, known for bringing out the best in their horses. If the race plays out right, it’ll be there at the finish.

THREAT - #15 Egerton

Egerton is a well-priced contender with the ability to upset the field. Showed resilience to finish fourth last start, pushing to the line. On 09/06/2025, Egerton lined up at Mornington, finishing 4th over 1000m. Backed at $2.20, jumped from barrier 2, and carried 59kg under Patrick Moloney. Has a knack for performing well on good tracks and should be respected. Performed well on good surfaces, winning 2 times from 4 starts. A wide draw isn’t always bad - could allow her to stay out of trouble. In the saddle will be Patrick Moloney on Saturday. They are a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. Trained under the expert eye of C I Brown, expect nothing less than top performance from Egerton. This one’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.

ROUGHIE - #1 Romantic Choice

I think you should have your eyes on this outsider, here is why. Last race didn’t yield a top-four placing, but the run hinted at better to come. Last start, Romantic Choice finished in the placings over 1200m at Swan Hill on 06/06/2025. Carried 54kg under Declan Bates, started at $11.00. Track rated good. A good draw too, gets to run from the 2 Barrier. Expect Jordyn Weatherley to be in control this Saturday. Their experience and race craft make them a strong contender for the win. Romantic Choice has been fine-tuned by Tom Dabernig for this race, and I expect a strong performance. Hasn’t won at Caulfield yet, but might be ready to change that. Worth a bet at odds, don’t overlook it.

GET ON - #10 Sayedaty Sadaty

Last race saw a strong third-place performance, staying competitive throughout. Last outing, Sayedaty Sadaty took on a 1800m race at Sandown-Hillside and finished 3rd. Carried 51kg, started at $4.60, and handled a good surface. Still unproven on a good track, but the pedigree suggests it should handle it. Landing in this barrier could give him a dream passage through the race. Jockey Logan Bates will ride this runner. This jockey is known for his ability to time the run perfectly. Trained by Ciaron Maher. Back it to win or place.

THREAT - #4 Earlswood

A game second-place effort last start, showcasing strong ability. Earlswood competed at Sandown-Hillside over 1800m, finishing 2nd. Jumped from barrier 2, carried 56.5kg, and was ridden by Joe Bowditch. Might need to push forward early to avoid being caught wide throughout. At this stage, John Allen is listed to ride him on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Earlswood is a product of Gavin Bedggood's exceptional training, and the results should speak for themselves. Might surprise a few here.

ROUGHIE - #11 Dublin Journal

A competitive fourth-place finish last time, proving hard to shake. Last start performance, Dublin Journal came 4th over 1800m at Sandown-Hillside. Carried 54kg, guided by Patrick Moloney, and started at $19.00. Has drawn a barrier that should help avoid early pressure. I’m confident that Jye Mcneil will ride a calculated race this Saturday. Their history of strong performances makes them a reliable choice. With a nice bloodline, I think this horse can give a good showing. Has raced 6 times at this track, winning 2 times. Looks primed for a big effort.

GET ON - #8 Yellow Sam

I think Yellow Sam is an excellent best bet for Saturday and let me explain why. Showed great turn of foot to claim victory last race. Yellow Sam raced at Swan Hill last start, covering 1200m and finishing 1st. Carried 54kg with Fred Kersley aboard. Track was good. This gate should allow her to get into a rhythm without using too much energy. In top form this Saturday, Fred Kersley has a knack for getting the best out of their horses. Could be another winning run. This runner comes from the L Smith Stable. Track record isn’t inspiring, but anything can happen at Caulfield on Saturday. Handles this surface well and looks set for another strong performance. Has raced 12 times on good tracks, winning 6 races and placing in 10 of 12 starts. Strong chance to be in the frame.

THREAT - #6 Running By

I believe that Running By represents great value in the betting markets and could surprise. A determined third-place finish last race, never giving in. Will need to navigate across from the outside, but it’s still in the mix. On board Running By will be John Allen, one of my favourite jockeys to bet on. Running By, trained by the capable Ciaron Maher, is sure to be a strong competitor on Saturday. Has got the job done at this trip of 1440m before but faces a challenge. Competitive at the trip, placing in 75% of 8 starts, with 2 wins. Has experience at this track, with a 66.7% win percentage and 3 placings. In solid form, wouldn’t be a shock to see it win.

ROUGHIE - #3 Lim's Saltoro

Lim's Saltoro is usually an unpredictable runner that can spring a surprise result. A consistent fourth-place result last race, always giving a good showing. Last outing, Lim's Saltoro took on a 1600m race at Caulfield and finished 4th. Carried 59kg, started at $6.50, and handled a good surface. A strong gate position could help him control the tempo from the start. Connections will get to watch their horse run around with Jason Maskiell in the saddle on Saturday. This jockey has plenty of wins under their belt. Lim's Saltoro has been under the wing of D Meagher. Not a standout at this trip (1440m) but has the ability to surprise. Performed well over this trip, winning 2 times from 4 starts. Hasn’t won at Caulfield yet, but might be ready to change that. One to watch, could put in a career-best effort.

Here is my Saturday multi of the day at Caulfield! The Black Cloud looks to make it 4 wins from 8 starts over the 1100m trip and loves running second-up. Sayedaty Sadaty has been running well this prep without a win, should be able to step up again. Yellow Sam is seeking a 3rd straight win and I wouldn’t back against it!
