Zaphod is carrying high expectations but I think it can deliver. Last race saw a finish outside the top four, looking to bounce back with stronger form. Zaphod ran at Randwick on 24/05/2025, finishing 7th in a 2000m event. Jockey Dylan Gibbons was aboard, carrying 58kg. Track was rated heavy. A prime draw that could set things up perfectly for a strong run. At this stage, Dylan Gibbons is listed to ride him on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Zaphod is in good hands with Kris Lees, a trainer with a track record for producing top-tier horses. Still searching for that first win at Randwick, but it’s certainly not out of the question. One to keep on side, has a real chance.

THREAT - #2 Hollywood Hero

At generous odds, Hollywood Hero could be the value pick of the day. Didn’t place in the top four, but certain aspects of the run suggested improvement is coming. Last time out, Hollywood Hero competed over 1600m, placing 6th at Randwick. Jumped from barrier 14, carried 53kg, and starting price of $9.50 odds. Could need some luck from this gate, but stranger things have happened. Connections will get to witness their horse racing with Ashley Morgan in the saddle on Saturday. This jockey has plenty of wins under their belt. Trainer Bjorn Baker has given him the all clear to run on Saturday. Still searching for a breakthrough at 1800m - this race might be perfect. Looks primed for a big effort.

ROUGHIE - #3 Shamarkand

Shamarkand should be a dark horse in this race. If luck goes its way, could be right in the finish.

For my Saturday best bets, I like the chances of Storm The Ramparts for good reason. With three consecutive placings, Storm The Ramparts has shown its ability to stay competitive. Last outing, Storm The Ramparts took on a 1000m race at Randwick and finished 1st. Carried 58.5kg, started at $3.50, and handled a soft surface. A tricky starting spot, but plenty of good horses win from out there. In top form this Saturday, Adam Hyeronimus has a knack for getting the best out of their horses. Could be another winning run. The attention to detail in Joseph Pride's training methods makes Storm The Ramparts a contender. Handles this track well, boasting 2 wins from 3 runs. Might surprise a few here.

THREAT - #4 Shall Be

Shall Be should be a smart each-way option with the potential to return a good payday. Coming off a commanding win in its most recent race. Shall Be raced recently, placing 1st in a 1000m event at Wyong. Jockey Braith Nock guided the runner, carrying 60kg. Started at $4.20 odds. Has the speed to make use of an inside barrier. On Saturday, Benjamin Osmond will be guiding Shall Be. Known for their precision, this combination should perform well. Has been trained by M S Minervini and comes off some trial runs. No wins at Randwick yet, but this could be the day Shall Be turns things around. Winning experience is there, and it could show again Saturday. Could be a real value play, don’t dismiss it.

ROUGHIE - #11 Iron Will

At a big price, Iron Will could deliver a shock result. A determined third-place finish in the previous race, suggesting more to come. With a good barrier draw, he could find a prime stalking position early on. There’s no doubt that Tom Sherry is the right person for the job this Saturday. With a solid record, they’ll play a major role. Having been trained by Tash Burleigh, Iron Will comes into this race well-prepared and confident. Has managed to win at 1000m before, but needs a strong run. Distance stats: 5-1-1, with a win rate of 50% and a place rate of 70%. Go well again.

This jockey is known for his ability to time the run perfectly. Headley Grange is a product of Joseph Pride's exceptional training, and the results should speak for themselves. Has had success here (Randwick) before and could do it again. At this venue, has a career record of 2-2-0, including 2 victories. Strong record on soft tracks. On soft ground, holds a record of 3-1-0, with 3 wins. Strong chance to be in the frame.

ROUGHIE - #11 Whinchat

If you’re looking for a roughie, Whinchat has some upside. Finished outside the top four last start, showing potential for improvement. Has performed respectably on soft tracks before, and another good run wouldn’t shock. The barrier draw looks ideal for this runner, it usually likes a wide run. Trainer David Pfieffer has a reputation for getting the best out of horses like Whinchat. Flawless at this distance of 1400m - expect another bold showing. Performed well over this trip, winning 2 times from 2 starts. At Randwick, has managed a win here and can improve on that record this Saturday. Will be running on.
