Berkshire Breeze is rated as the best bet of the day, let me tell you why. A gritty fourth last start at Flemington, staying in touch with the front-runners. Berkshire Breeze competed at Mornington over 2400m, finishing 4th. Jumped from barrier 9, carried 56kg, and was ridden by Ben Melham. The draw might not be ideal, but it all depends on how the race unfolds. Ethan Brown has the skills and race intelligence to make a big impact on Saturday. Looking forward to their performance. Trainer Ciaron Maher has given him the all clear to run on Saturday. Still searching for a breakthrough at 2800m - this race might be perfect. At Flemington, has managed a win here and can improve on that record this Saturday. Competitive at this track, placing in 5 of 8 starts, with 2 wins. In solid form, wouldn’t be a shock to see it win.

THREAT - #18 Alma Rise

Alma Rise should be a smart each-way option with the potential to return a good payday. Secured a win last start. Last time out, Alma Rise competed over 2100m, placing 1st at Echuca. Jumped from barrier 7, carried 57kg, and starting price of $3.20 odds. The barrier draw looks great for this runner, she will start in the 3 Barrier. In top form this Saturday, Zac Spain has a knack for getting the best out of their horses. Could be another winning run. Trained under the expert eye of Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman, expect nothing less than top performance from Alma Rise. Untried at this trip but I think it will enjoy it. If it gets the right run, it’s in with a shot.

ROUGHIE - #8 Mostly Cloudy

Mostly Cloudy is one to watch at long odds – don’t underestimate its chances. He finished fourth last start at Flemington, showing good effort despite the competition. Mostly Cloudy raced recently, placing 4th in a 3200m event at Randwick. Jockey Braith Nock guided the runner, carrying 50kg. Started at $41.00 odds. A tricky gate, but not a deal-breaker for a horse with this ability. Jockey Billy Egan gets the ride on Saturday. They're a talented jockey with a solid race sense. Trained by T Busuttin & N Young. Handles this distance of 2800m well, no surprise to see it fighting out the finish. Solid record over this distance, winning 3 times from 6 runs. If conditions suit, it’s a big player in this.

Verdad should be a standout selection for Saturday’s racing, here is why. Won convincingly in its most recent outing. On 19/04/2025, Verdad lined up at Mornington, finishing 1st over 1600m. Backed at $1.95, jumped from barrier 5, and carried 61kg under Ben Melham. A deep gate often means avoiding congestion on the inside. Ben Melham brings solid experience to the saddle this Saturday, and their timing in races has earned them plenty of respect. Having been trained by R D Griffiths, Verdad comes into this race well-prepared and confident. Could be a real value play, don’t dismiss it.

THREAT - #10 Wings Of Song

Punters searching for value should take a close look at Wings Of Song. Last race saw a finish outside the top four, looking to bounce back with stronger form. Wings Of Song raced at Morphettville last start, covering 1600m and finishing 8th. Carried 57kg with Jake Noonan aboard. Track was good. Should be well suited by this barrier, which allows her to be handy in the run. I’m confident that Tom Prebble will ride a calculated race this Saturday. Their history of strong performances makes them a reliable choice. With the experience and training of Patrick Payne, Wings Of Song has everything it needs to succeed. Solid strike rate at this trip (1600m), should be competitive. Competitive at the trip, placing in 75% of 8 starts, with 4 wins. Track record isn’t inspiring, but anything can happen at Flemington on Saturday. I think it will run well.

ROUGHIE - #7 Seonee

At a big price, Seonee could deliver a shock result. Finished outside the top four in her last race but had moments that hinted at better performances ahead. Last outing, Seonee took on a 1600m race at Morphettville and finished 7th. Carried 58.5kg, started at $19.00, and handled a good surface. A tough draw but has the ability to handle it. At this stage, Billy Egan is listed to ride her on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Patrick Payne is known for nurturing talented horses, and Seonee has certainly benefited from their expertise. Track stats: 2-0-0, with a win rate of 66.7% and place rate of 66.7%. Has the ability to give this a shake.

Flemington - Race 9 (1800m)

Liberami is carrying high expectations but I think it can deliver. He has placed in three consecutive races and will look to continue the momentum. Last start performance, Liberami came 1st over 1600m at Sandown-Lakeside. Carried 59kg, guided by Jye McNeil, and started at $2.20. A tough gate, but strong early speed could help overcome it. On Saturday, Jye Mcneil will be guiding Liberami. Known for their precision, this combination should perform well. The training regime by R D Griffiths has been rigorous, and this horse is ready to show its potential. Don’t count it out, could be a big contender.

THREAT - #12 Ambassadorial

Ambassadorial is a well-priced contender with the ability to upset the field. Showed resilience to finish fourth last start, pushing to the line. Last start, Ambassadorial finished in the placings over 1600m at Caulfield on 10/05/2025. Carried 55.5kg under Jye McNeil, started at $3.60. Track rated good. Has the ability to work forward from a wide draw if needed. Expect Tom Prebble to be in control this Saturday. Their experience and race craft make them a strong contender for the win. Has been trained by Alexander Rae and comes off some trial runs. Hasn’t cracked this distance yet, but stranger things have happened. Still searching for that first win at Flemington, but it’s certainly not out of the question. Great each-way bet.

ROUGHIE - #10 Magarten

I think you should have your eyes on this outsider, here is why. Chased hard to secure third last time out, proving determination. Magarten ran at Randwick on 26/04/2025, finishing 3rd in a 1600m event. Jockey Rachel King was aboard, carrying 58.5kg. Track was rated soft. Has won from similar barriers before, so should be fine. Jockey Jett Stanley is looking sharp ahead of Saturday. With their keen eye and strong race judgment, they’ll be a key factor. With a decent bloodline, I think this horse can make this a day to remember. Winless over 1800m so far, but could improve in the track conditions. Hasn’t won at Flemington yet, but might be ready to change that. Could run a big race.
