GET ON - #9 Matisse
I believe that Matisse will get strong support and will be my prime Saturday bet of the day. Last race saw a finish outside the top four, looking to bounce back with stronger form. Last outing, Matisse took on a 1100m race at Flemington and finished 6th. Carried 60kg, started at $7.00, and handled a good surface. Yet to win under these track conditions, but has shown glimpses of ability. The 6 Barrier might not be ideal, but it suits certain running styles. Jockey Mark Zahra will be in the saddle this Saturday. Has a great winning strike rate. With a solid bloodline, I think this horse can give a good showing. Winless over 1200m so far, but could improve in the track conditions. Hasn’t won at Caulfield yet, but might be ready to change that. Go well again.

THREAT - #4 Winnasedge
Winnasedge is expected to outperform market expectations, making it a strong value play. Showed class and determination to win last race. On 22/02/2025, Winnasedge lined up at Caulfield, finishing 1st over 1100m. Backed at $3.60, jumped from barrier 6, and carried 54kg under Michael Dee. An awkward barrier, but with the right run, it’s still a winning chance. At this stage, Michael Dee is listed to ride his on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. The attention to detail in Nick Ryan's training methods makes Winnasedge a contender. Yet to win at this trip (1200m) - will need to prove itself. I think it will. Loves racing at the Caulfield track and should go close again. One for the multiples, don’t leave it out.

ROUGHIE - #10 Peridot Star
If you’re looking for a roughie, Peridot Star has some upside. Finished beyond the top four last start, but could be poised for a better effort. Capable of producing another strong performance. Peridot Star stepped out at Flemington on 01/03/2025, finishing 8th over 1100m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 56kg under Daniel Stackhouse. Comfortable in these conditions, and recent form suggests another bold showing. This draw gives her the chance to settle comfortably and strike late. Daniel Stackhouse brings solid experience to the saddle this Saturday, and their timing in races has earned them plenty of respect. Peridot Star has been under the guidance of Phillip Stokes. Flawless at this distance of 1200m - expect another bold showing. A dark horse in this race, could cause an upset.

GET ON - #13 Killiana
Killiana is expected to deliver on Saturday, let's talk about her form. Building on the promising debut, Killiana returns for its second race. Killiana, trained by the capable Ben, Will & JD Hayes, is sure to be a strong competitor on Saturday. Has never tasted defeat - winning is all it knows. In the saddle will be Mark Zahra on Saturday. They are a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. Few can match this runner’s record on good tracks. The starting position could allow her to conserve energy for a strong finish. One to keep on side, has a real chance.

THREAT - #3 Ornos
Punters searching for value should take a close look at Ornos. With each race, Ornos is learning more, and its third start marks another step forward. On 28/02/2025, Ornos lined up at Moonee Valley, finishing 2nd over 1200m. Backed at $2.50, jumped from barrier 3, and carried 58.5kg under Blake Shinn. Trained by D T O'Brien. Half the time, it's in front - will Saturday be another win? The 14 Barrier should suit this horse. Daniel Stackhouse is in the saddle and in nice racing form. This should be a dangerous combo. Handles this surface well and looks set for another strong performance.

ROUGHIE - #11 Befuddle
Befuddle should be a dark horse in this race. Proved too strong in the previous race. Last start, Befuddle finished in the placings over 1200m at Moonee Valley on 28/02/2025. Carried 55kg under Jye McNeil, started at $18.00. Track rated good. A wider draw means a chance to stay out of trouble and swoop late. Connections will get to watch their horse run around with Jye Mcneil in the saddle on Saturday. This jockey has plenty of wins under their belt. Has been trained by J D Sadler and comes off some trial runs. Flawless at this distance of 1200m - expect another bold showing. Dangerous to ignore, capable of a bold run.

GET ON - #4 Regal Zeus
I think Regal Zeus is an excellent best bet for Saturday and let me explain why. Second-place finish last time out suggests this runner is in peak form. Regal Zeus ran at Moonee Valley on 28/02/2025, finishing 2nd in a 1200m event. Jockey Daniel Stackhouse was aboard, carrying 55kg. Track was rated good. A deep barrier means he will need luck to slot into a good position. In top form this Saturday, Daniel Stackhouse has a knack for getting the best out of their horses. Could be another winning run. Coming from the trusted hands of John McArdle, expect this horse to perform at a high level. Still searching for a breakthrough at 1200m - today might be the day. Not the strongest Caulfield track form but has won here before. In the right race to make its presence felt.

THREAT - #2 Hedged
Hedged could be overlooked by some, so that offers strong value for Saturday’s races. A finish outside the top four last time, but signs of improvement were there. Last outing, Hedged took on a 1200m race at Gold Coast and finished 6th. Carried 56kg, started at $4.60, and handled a good surface. A tough gate, but strong early speed could help overcome it. Trainer Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) is confident that he can run well. Unproven at this distance (1200m) but could surprise with the right run. Still searching for that first win at Caulfield, but it’s certainly not out of the question. Looks well placed to make an impact.

ROUGHIE - #1 Ashford Street
I think you should have your eyes on this outsider, here is why. A finish outside the top four, but not without merit - could be one to watch. Ashford Street stepped out at Caulfield on 22/02/2025, finishing 10th over 1100m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 52kg under Teodore Nugent. If the track plays fair, the barrier shouldn’t be a major disadvantage. In the saddle will be Jamie Mott on Saturday. They are a skilled jockey that I have full confidence in. Tom Dabernig is known for nurturing talented horses, and Ashford Street has certainly benefited from their expertise. Winless over 1200m so far, but could improve in the track conditions. Has raced 12 times at this track, winning 2 times. Wouldn’t be surprised if it finishes close.
