GET ON - #8 Sirius Statement

Bringing winning momentum from an excellent last start performance. Sirius Statement raced recently, placing 1st in a 1600m event at Mornington. Jockey Jamie Mott guided the runner, carrying 59.5kg. Started at $3.80 odds. A well-drawn runner that should get every chance in transit. This Saturday, Jamie Mott will be in the saddle and ready for a win. This race looks suitable for this tactical rider. Sirius Statement, trained by the capable Gavin Bedggood, is sure to be a strong competitor on Saturday. Best performances have come on different surfaces, but not without a chance. This one’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.

THREAT - #6 Extreme Virtue

With three straight placings, Extreme Virtue continues to show its reliability and skill. Extreme Virtue raced at Caulfield last start, covering 1700m and finishing 1st. Carried 55kg with Craig Williams aboard. Track was good. An ideal gate that could allow this horse to settle closer to the leaders early. Luke Currie brings solid experience to the saddle this Saturday, and their timing in races has earned them plenty of respect. With the experience and training of Ben, Will & JD Hayes, Extreme Virtue has everything it needs to succeed. Never beaten over this trip 1400m - hard to look past it. Handles the distance well, boasting 2 wins from 2 runs. Loves this track at Caulfield - unbeaten here and looking to keep it that way. A sneaky chance.

ROUGHIE - #4 Pariah Pearl

Three consecutive placings highlight the form of Pariah Pearl and its ability to stay near the front. Has shown the ability to perform well from similar wide barriers before. At this stage, Tom Prebble is listed to ride her on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Has been trained by T Busuttin & N Young and comes off some trial runs. Hasn’t won at Caulfield yet, but might be ready to change that. A real shot!

GET ON - #4 Conchiero

I believe that Conchiero will get strong support and will be my prime Saturday bet of the day. A finish beyond the top four last run, yet still showing promise for upcoming runs. Conchiero competed at Morphettville over 1800m, finishing 14th. Jumped from barrier 10, carried 57.5kg, and was ridden by Rochelle Milnes. Not its best or worst surface, but capable on the day. Has raced 4 times on good tracks, winning 2 races and placing in 3 of 4 starts. If the track plays fair, the barrier shouldn’t be a major disadvantage. Jett Stanley will guide Conchiero and given their record, they’ll give the horse every chance to shine. Having been trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Conchiero comes into this race well-prepared and confident. Go well again.

THREAT - #11 Mary Eliza

Mary Eliza is a solid chance at good odds, here is why. Came in beyond the top four last start, but still showing signs of promise. One to consider if you are looking for a roughie with past winning form. Mary Eliza raced recently, placing 7th in a 1600m event at Mornington. Jockey Zac Spain guided the runner, carrying 56kg. Started at $5.00 odds. Track conditions suit, but it needs to prove it can win at this level. A low draw could see her land a great spot in the running. With Luke Cartwright on board, expect a tactically astute ride this Saturday. This jockey always brings out the best in their horse. Under the watchful eye of Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman, Mary Eliza has shown a lot of promise leading up to this race. Hasn’t cracked this distance yet, but stranger things have happened. Will be running on.

ROUGHIE - #3 Supernima

Supernima is worth considering for those looking to back an underdog. Supernima has been a consistent performer, placing in three consecutive races without fail. Supernima raced at Sandown-Lakeside last start, covering 1400m and finishing 2nd. Carried 57kg with Luke Cartwright aboard. Track was good. The draw might not be ideal, but it all depends on how the race unfolds. Connections will get to witness their horse racing with Koby Jennings in the saddle on Saturday. This jockey has plenty of wins under their belt. Trainer Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman is confident that he can run well. Winless at Caulfield - needs to lift to turn that around, this could be his race to do it. Has the turn of foot to make an impact.

Caulfield - Race 7 (1600m)

GET ON - #13 Ruakaka Raider

For my Saturday best bets, I like the chances of Ruakaka Raider for good reason. A finish outside the top four last start, but there were positives to take away. Last start performance, Ruakaka Raider came 7th over 2000m at Pakenham. Carried 57kg, guided by Craig Williams, and started at $3.90. May have to work early to find a good position from this gate. Solid strike rate at this trip (1600m), should be competitive. This track is a favourite of Ruakaka Raider, and with a perfect record, it’s hard to see anything stopping him. Might surprise a few here.

THREAT - #10 Mirzann

At generous odds, Mirzann could be the value pick of the day. Couldn’t break into the top four last start but ran better than the result suggests. On 22/06/2024, Mirzann lined up at Flemington, finishing 6th over 2540m. Backed at $4.20, jumped from barrier 2, and carried 54kg under Beau Mertens. Yet to find success on this track rating, but gets a good chance to do so on Saturday. This horse has previously performed well from similar barriers, making this an ideal setup. At this stage, Beau Mertens is listed to ride him on Saturday. They should settle nicely into this race. Trainer Chris Waller has carefully prepared Mirzann for this event, and I believe he will give a strong account of itself. Don’t count it out, could be a big contender.

ROUGHIE - #7 Reset The Jazz

Reset The Jazz could shake things up if it runs to its best. Showed plenty of heart last start, finishing a credible second. Reset The Jazz stepped out at Mornington on 19/04/2025, finishing 2nd over 1600m. Raced on a good surface, carrying 56kg under Luke Currie. A tough draw but has the ability to handle it. Luke Currie will guide Reset The Jazz and given their record, they’ll give the horse every chance to shine. Reset The Jazz is a product of Ben, Will & JD Hayes's exceptional training, and the results should speak for themselves. Track record isn’t inspiring, but anything can happen at Caulfield on Saturday. Capable on good tracks, though previous wins came in slightly different conditions. At this surface, has a career record of 3-3-0, including 3 victories. Each-way chance I reckon.
