Making it in the NBA remains the dream of every aspirational basketball player and for rookies, hitting the ground running and performing for their new franchise, is truly the stuff of fairytales.

Whilst plenty of big-name college stars were expected to have an impact in the NBA this season, some have made more headway than others and the race to be crowned the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year is very much on. Cutting the wheat from the chaff is no easy task and MyBettingAustralia remains the number one betting resource for all levels of NBA punter.

Odds Table – Top 5 favorites

Being the number one draft pick doesn’t guarantee anything for a player as they progress from college basketball to the NBA but Victor Wenbanyama’s status with many NBA fans and betting sites is beyond that of a traditional rookie. The Frenchman has justified his first pick for the San Antonio Spurs this season and he remains the hot favourite to clinch the crown.

Favorites to Win the NBA Rookie of the Year

Victor Wenbanyama

It may be hard to believe in February of 2024 but Victor Wenbanyama’s journey to NBA Rookie of the Year favourite with many NBA betting apps has not been as easy as many people would have expected. However, the San Antonio Spurs superstar has proved his worth of late and he is starting to put in some very impressive performances.rt for the Spurs haven’t been anything to write home about, Wenbanyama has started to demonstrate in recent weeks, just why he was the number one pick in the draft.

Victor Wenbanyama’s season so far

Whilst the San Antonio Spurs have undoubtedly struggled this season, Victor Wenbanyama has really managed to get to grips with the thrills and spills of the NBA. The Frenchman is now averaging over 20 points per game, plus 10 rebounds and his performances of late do look rather ominous for the rest of the NBA. His form is starting to become more consistent too and he is the firm favourite to clinch the NBA Rookie of the Year crown with many NBA punters and online betting sites.

Chet Holmgren

Perhaps the biggest victim of Victor Wenbanyama’s success this season has been Chet Holmgren, who for any other rookie, would be deemed to be having an incredible first campaign in the NBA. Plying his trade in a hugely successful Oklahoma City Thunder side, Holmgren has come of age at this level, and he will be an integral part of their franchise for many years to come.

Consistency has been the stand out element to the campaign for Chet Holmgren this term, with his averages at both ends of the court standing out for any NBA fan or punter. Comparing him to Wenbanyama is perhaps a little unfair, with the Frenchman potentially shaping up to be a generational talent and Holmgren has very much run his own race this season and he has done so admirably.

Brandon Miller

The Charlotte Hornets have had a relatively quiet season over in the East, but the performances of Brandon Miller have been a clear positive for all in the franchise. Being the second pick of the 2023 NBA Draft in behind Victor Wenbanyama was of course a tough mantle to step into but Miller looks to be ready to assert himself on the NBA in future seasons.

Brandon Miller’s season so far

Statistics don’t always tell the full story in the NBA, but Brandon Miller has enjoyed an excellent campaign in a faltering Hornets side and there are shoots of optimism surrounding both Miller and the Hornets. Breaking into the playoffs would be a seriously good return for the Hornets in the East and with Miller averaging the best part of 17 points per game currently, he will be confident of finishing the campaign strongly.

Bet on Jaime Jaquez Jr to be crowned the 2023/24 NBA Rookie of the Year @ 181.00 with GetSetBet.

Jaime Jaquez Jr

Any rookie season can always be tough to negotiate for new faces in the NBA and Jaime Jaquez Jr looks to be going through a period of transition currently. Having burst on to the scene for Miami Heat, he found himself firmly in the conversation for the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year with NBA betting apps but his impact on games has lessened in recent weeks.

Being the 18th pick in the NBA draft wouldn’t necessarily catch too many eyes in relation to the NBA Rookie of the Year race but Jaime Jaquez Jr certainly has a following for the Miami Heat. Whilst his numbers have dried up a touch, he is still getting plenty of minutes on the court and he will be hoping to finish the campaign as strongly as possible.

Our Prediction

What a difference a month can make. At the beginning of 2024, plenty of question marks were being asked by punters and NBA betting apps as to whether Victor Wenbanyama could cut it in the big time. However, the Frenchman has been in fine fettle of late, displaying all of his qualities for the San Antonio Spurs and the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year crown looks to be his if he wants it.
