Best Australian Open Multi Bet This Weekend

The finalists of the men’s Australian Open have been found, and it’s not who everyone expected pre-tournament. Rather than the top two seeds Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz meeting in Sunday’s final, instead young Italian Jannik Sinner squares off against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev. Here’s how to make the most of this clash with some lucrative multi betting.

Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev

Melbourne Park, 28th January 2024, 7:30pm

Sinner to win but both to win a set @ 2.20 (bet365)

Sinner and Medvedev have walked wildly different paths over the past fortnight to reach the Australian Open final. For Sinner, it’s been a stroll in the park. The Italian has played lights out tennis, racing through to the semi-finals without dropping a set, before dispatching top seed Djokovic in an impressive four set display on Friday.

Medvedev, on the other hand, has fought tooth and nail. Twice he’s gone to four sets, and no less than three times has he gone the distance. This includes his past two matches, where he needed a deciding set to defeat Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals, and Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

Put this together with the pair’s recent head-to-head, and there’s a very compelling argument that Sinner lifts the trophy in Melbourne on Sunday. While Medvedev won the first six meetings between these two, Sinner has roared back into the rivalry, claiming the past three. All of these meetings were last year, with the 22-year-old well and truly mastering how to win against the hard-court specialist.

We say Medvedev wins a set here purely because of the tenacity the Russian has shown this tournament. There’s also a decent chance that nerves creep in for Sinner in his first Grand Slam final at some stage. Other than this, expect one way traffic between a fresh, clean-hitting Sinner and a weary Medvedev.

Sinner to win first set @ 1.50 (bet365)

International betting sites are offering some great odds that can be stacked in the men’s singles final at the Australian Open. One of these is for Sinner to win the first set on Sunday.

Looking at the past three meetings between Sinner and Medvedev, while two have gone the distance, Sinner has won the first set in each. He’s also started incredibly strong in all of his matches this tournament so far. Add this to the fact that Medvedev will be coming out tired and has already dropped three opening sets in Melbourne. We say backing the number four seed to win the opening exchange is a safe wager to add to your multi betting.

Sinner -4.5 handicap @ 1.83 (bet365)

Another excellent market with Aussie bookmakers is the -4.5 handicap on Sinner in this match. While we do believe Medvedev will get a set at some stage in this clash—likely the second or third—we don’t believe the overall scoreline will be close. Simply put, Sinner is playing incredible tennis, and Medvedev is running on fumes.

Even if Sinner does win a tight first set and Medvedev picks up the second or third set, all it takes is for a 6-2 or 6-3 set to occur for this bet to be made. Considering Sinner just won 6-1, 6-2 in the opening two sets against top seed Djokovic in his semi-final, doing so against a tired Medvedev is not inconceivable at all.

Multi Bet of the Weekend

The 2024 Australian Open comes to its conclusion on Sunday evening with an unlikely final match. Instead of Djokovic and Alcaraz writing the next chapter in their rivalry, it will be Sinner who looks to claim his maiden Grand Slam against the wily Medvedev. The match up may well be unexpected, but there’s still plenty of opportunity to earn a healthy return with a well-placed multi bet ahead of the Australian Open final this weekend.
