The Best Australian Open 2024 Multi Bet to Make This Friday

The 2024 Australian Open is heading towards its middle weekend at break-neck speed. Iga Swiatek, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud all came close to being upset on day five of play. Will we see our first big upset this Friday? We outline the best multi bet to make, with odds from the best betting sites

Novak Djokovic vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Melbourne Park, 19th January 2024, 9pm

Match to be under 31.5 games @ 1.83 (bet365)

It’s been a rocky path for world number one Novak Djokovic across the first two rounds of the Australian Open. Playing in a tournament he’s won 10 times previously, the Serbian has twice been pushed to his limits by unlikely opponents.

First it was Croatian qualifier Dino Prizmic, who stole a set from Djokovic and forced him into a four-hour marathon in round one. The 36-year-old escaped 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, but was made to look the worse player on Rod Laver Arena for large swaths of the match. Next it was Australia’s Alexei Popyrin, who also took a set from the 24-time Grand Slam champion and had set points to go up 2-1 against Djokovic. Again, the defending champion survived, but only by the skin of his teeth.

The thing is, Djokovic doesn’t carry on this way at Grand Slams for long. He’s a master at building through the tournament, and it’s around about this point in the Australian Open when the world number one usually hits his stride. That’s exactly what we expect against Etcheverry on Friday, with Djokovic finally stringing together a complete performance and winning this one easily.

Jannik Sinner vs Sebastian Baez

Melbourne Park, 19th January 2024, 2pm

Baez to win a set @ 2.62 (bet365)

Jannik Sinner has been ripping his way through the Australian Open draw over the past five days. The Italian is into the third round without dropping a set, however, we say that will change this Friday.

Argentinian Sebastian Baez is the epitome of a confidence player. When he’s winning, he’s winning; when he’s losing, he’s losing. The 23-year-old has just come off a tough losing streak that saw him lose five matches in a row dating back to October 2023. He’s turned that around now, picking up two nice wins across the first two rounds of the Australian Open.

Last time Baez kicked a losing streak, he immediately won back-to-back ATP 250 titles. We’re not saying he’ll do that again, but expect him to be a real handful for Sinner. Last time the pair met Baez took a set, and he should do at least as well this time too.

Coco Gauff vs Alycia Parks

Melbourne Park, 19th January 2024, approximately 5pm

First set over 9.5 games @ 2.62 (bet365)

Rounding out our multi bet is an all-American clash between Coco Gauff and Alycia Parks. Aussie bookmakers have Gauff a huge favourite here. While we think she’ll win, all signs are pointing towards the opening set being a real arm-wrestle.

Looking at the previous match that both women have played, the first set was tight. Against Caroline Dolehide, Gauff went to a tiebreaker, while for Parks, her opening set against Leylah Fernandez was 7-5. Betting on the first set between this pair to be over 9.5 games is entirely reasonable given their records this tournament. Particularly considering that over 9.5 games allows for a standard one-break set as well, with 6-4, 7-5 and 7-6 all getting this bet paid.

Multi Bet of the Weekend

Heading into the middle weekend at the 2024 Australian Open, this is where the best step it up a gear. With Djokovic, Sinner, and Gauff all in action on Friday, this is the perfect opportunity to profit from their success with a well-placed multi bet.
