League of Legends Betting Sites

League of Legends has long been hugely popular among gamers, and as with virtually every competition with any sort of interest in it, that means you can bet on it – if you know where to look. While League of Legends betting sites aren’t as widespread as they are for more mainstream sports, there are still plenty of bookies offering markets on LoL. On this page, we will take a look at where you can find them, what League of Legends events and tournaments you can bet on, and much more.

You’ll find that a lot of new betting sites, as well as smaller, local ones, often won’t offer markets on League of Legends, or indeed any esports. But there are plenty of betting sites in Australia, so if you know where to look you’ve still got plenty of options for LoL game betting. Even better, we’ve done the hard work for you, and listed the betting sites that you can use for LoL esports betting.

How to Bet on League of Legends

If you are looking to bet on League of Legends, your first step is to find a betting site that actually offers LoL betting markets. This is still relatively straightforward – there are plenty that offer them – but as the list above suggests, there are also plenty that do not.

In fact, in Australia you will find more betting sites that do not have League of Legends betting markets than those that do, courtesy to the influx of new betting sites in recent years. These new betting sites rarely have even close to the range of sports offered as the more established, often international betting sites, and esports (including League of Legends) is one of the sports that will generally be absent.

But finding those League of Legends betting sites is simply a matter of knowing where to look. If you know which bookies are more established and offer the best range of markets, then you’re a good chance of finding League of Legends betting markets there, or you can just take all the hassle out and look at our list above.

Once you settle on a betting site, the process of placing a bet is the same as it would be for anything. The only thing that might trip a few people up is actually locating League of Legends betting markets. It’s easy enough if you’re betting on the AFL, for example – often betting sites will have a quick link straight through to these matches anyway, but if they don’t you know to click on ‘Australian Rules Football’ and you’ll find it.

When it comes to betting on LoL, it’s a little less obvious where to look. You may be wondering, for example, is League of Legends a sport? Well when it comes to betting sites, it is. To find these markets, click on the sport drop-down menu on your desktop betting site or tab on your mobile app, and scroll down until you find ‘esports’. From here, League of Legends should be easy to locate among a few other esports.

Once you’ve found it, you’re pretty ready to go. As you always would, click through to the particular event you’re interested in betting on, find the market you’re after, add it to your betslip and add your stake. Simple as that.

Top 3 LoL Betting Sites

Though there are a number of different League of Legends betting sites for you to choose from and plenty of them are worth checking out, there are a couple that we’d recommend above the rest. Below, we take a look at the three top League of Legends betting sites, as judged by our experts!

Bet365

bet365

It would be hard to have any other League of Legends betting site at the top of this list. Bet365 is one of the best bookmakers for most sports, so it’s no surprise that they are also one of the best LoL betting sites, offering a great range of markets on League of Legends and some quality odds to boot. There is plenty more to like about this betting behemoth too, including a great website and app that you can bet on.

Fixed Betting Odds, Fast And Secure Payment Methods

Unibet

Unibet has a massive range of markets for basically everything, and some of the best odds in the industry as well. This extends to League of Legends. You’ll find an excellent selection of different League of Legends markets at Unibet, and get as much bang for your buck betting on them as you will anywhere.

Solid Range of Live Streaming Options & Decent Odds on Offer

PlayUp

PlayUp

PlayUp is one of the leading locally-owned betting sites in Australia, doing a pretty good job of competing with its bigger, international competitors. They do basically everything well, so if you bet on League of Legends with them you’ll find a good selection of markets, decent odds, a great website and app, and friendly customer support, to name just a few of their strengths.

League of Legends Betting Types

While some League of Legends betting sites don’t offer that many markets, some offer more than you could dream of. A quick glance at perhaps the best League of Legends betting site in Bet365, for example, shows close to 200 different markets for individual LoL events, and in this section we will take a look at some of those that you can find.

Match winner

This one is pretty straightforward and doesn’t require too much explanation. As you would for any sport, League of Legends markets include individual match winners, which is simply a bet on who will win the match overall.

Match handicap

Match handicap lets you bet on either team with a handicap, in the same way you’d bet on lines in another sport. In a three-map match, there are only a handful of different potential scores – you can bet on either team -1.5 (i.e. to win 2-0) or either team +1.5 (i.e. to either win or lose by just one map).

Correct match score

As the name suggests, this one requires you to pick the exact map score. Games end after two maps if one team is already up 2-0 as obviously the other team can’t win from there, so there are only four options here – Team A to win 2-0 or 2-1, or Team B to win 2-0 or 2-1.

Map winner

You can also bet on the winner of an individual map with most League of Legends betting sites. This is another pretty easy one – simply select your map, and which team you think will win it.

To win at least one map

If you’re confident that a team will win at least one map, this could be a good market to check out. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you think a team will win – they could still lose 2-1 – but it does mean you’re confident they’ll at least go close. This is essentially the same as a +1.5 bet in the match handicap – winning at least one map means you’ll either win, or lose by just one map.

Kill markets

If you want to get a little bit more specific when betting on LoL, then kill markets could be the way to go. These come in all different shapes and sizes – with Bet365, for example, you can bet on total kills overall, team total kills overall, and total kills for individual maps. All of these can be bet on as over/unders, you can bet on alternate handicaps, or you can bet on ‘First team to x kills’.

Totals

There are various other totals that you can bet on too. As mentioned above, you can bet on total kills overall, for individual maps and either for both teams or just one of them, while you can also bet on total turrets for each map.

The above is, believe it or not, not even an exhaustive list of League of Legends markets available with some betting sites. It is, however, a pretty comprehensive of some of the most common ones that you will find, and demonstrates what a broad range of markets you have for betting on League of Legends.

League of Legends Betting Events and Tournaments

There are games left, right and centre in the world of League of Legends. A quick look at the global schedule for today, for example, sees no less than 29 games taking place, and the same applies for most days. You might struggle to find markets for every single one of those, but sites like Bet365 will have a good selection for a wide range of them, giving you plenty of LoL to bet on.

As with all sports, however, it’s the biggest events that see the most markets offered. A standout on the LoL calendar is the World Championships, which has taken place every year since 2011 and takes place over around five or six weeks.

But there are more major events than just the World Champs. There are a number of what are termed ‘A-Tier Tournaments’, which have a big prize pool and plenty of good teams. These include the Asia Masters, VCS Finals, and North American Challengers League, among plenty of others.

The League of Legends calendar is not the same every single year, but you will find plenty of the same major events popping up annually. And though each year is not identical, what is the same year on year is that there are a huge number of League of Legends games and tournaments around the globe, and plenty of major ones.

League of Legends Match Betting

As mentioned above, League of Legends match betting is the most common and straightforward type of bet to place on this esport, just as it is for most sports. After all, it’s simple, there are just two outcomes, and it’s available pretty much everywhere.

While the above League of Legends betting sites do have a variety of markets available – some with a great range, some not so great – what is consistent across all of them is that match betting will be available for individual LoL matchups. So if you’re simply looking to place a quick bet on an upcoming game, then looking for LoL match betting is the surest way to find what it is you need.

League of Legends Betting Apps

If you’re like me, you want to be sure that a bookmaker has a high-quality betting app before you bother to sign up with them. Occasionally I will still use a desktop site if I happen to be on my computer, but like many, the ease and versatility of a mobile app means I’ve become accustomed to using them whenever possible, often even if I do have my laptop handy.

While most betting sites have now developed pretty good betting apps, there are still a few that are a little shoddy and hard to use, and this can really slow down and negatively impact your betting experience. For this reason, there are a few bookies it’s probably best to avoid if you’re hellbent on betting on an app.

Among the aforementioned betting sites that offer League of Legends betting, however, there is not a solitary weak app. All of those listed have quality mobile offerings for their customers, so when you’re betting on League of Legends you don’t need to worry too much about your betting site not having a decent app.

Of course, while they are all pretty good, a couple do stand out from the rest. I’ve always been a sucker for the Bet365 app; it doesn’t follow the standard layout which is so common these days, but its unique layout and aesthetics do not mean they have compromised on efficiency by any means.

Unibet is another good one. This is interesting, because their desktop site can be a little clunky and slow to use at times, even if it is relatively nicely laid out. These issues don’t translate to their mobile app though, which generally functions really efficiently and has a super intuitive layout.

But while those two standout, that’s certainly not to say you shouldn’t bother with the others. All of the League of Legends betting sites have pretty high-quality apps, so whichever you choose you’ll be able to punt quickly and easily on your mobile.

League of Legends Betting Payment Methods

If you are happy with debit card betting, then you don’t need to worry too much about payment methods either for LoL online betting, or for betting on anything. Basically every single betting site in Australia will offer this as an instantaneous deposit option, so there is no need to double-check its availability.

However, if you prefer to use Google Pay betting sites, Apple Pay betting sites, PayID betting sites, BPay betting sites, or betting sites that allow you to use another less common payment method, then you might have to do a little more research.

Among the aforementioned League of Legends betting sites listed above, there is a fair bit of variation in terms of how many different deposit and withdrawal methods are available. With big betting sites like Bet365 and Unibet, for example, you will have a plethora of options and will likely have no problems finding a payment method that suits you.

A couple of others don’t have quite the same range, with newer betting sites like BetRight generally sticking to simply the most common payment types. For most, of course, this will be more than enough, but as mentioned if you do prefer to pay in a different way, then stick to the big bookies. Overall, however, the quality of the betting sites that offer League of Legends markets if pretty good, so for the most part you will have a handful of payment methods to choose from regardless of which bookie you use.

Betting on Esports Other Than League of Legends

League of Legends is one of the better known esports going around, but it’s far from the only esports in general, and certainly not the only one that you can bet on. You can find Dota 2 betting sites, CS:GO betting sites and more, and generally there is a fair bit of crossover with League of Legends, by which I mean the betting sites that offer markets for one of these generally offer markets for all of them, with bookies either avoiding esports all together, or jumping all in.

And those are not the only esports that you can bet on. Let’s take a look at Bet365, as an example – one of the premier esports betting sites in Australia. At the time of writing they have no less than ten different esports available to bet on; LoL, CS:GO and Dota 2, as well as eSoccer, NBA2K, CounterStrike, Valorant, Call of Duty, Starcraft 2 and King of Glory.

Bet365 is missing a couple of those, but has a couple of that Picklebet does not. These include Halo, Warcraft, and PubG.

So it’s safe to say that if you are an esports fan, you have plenty of options when it comes to betting. Not all of the LoL betting sites listed on this page will have as broad a selection of different esports to bet on as the above sites, but they all have at least a few, with the most popular like CS:GO and Dota 2 pretty widely available.

FAQs About League of Legends

As we near the conclusion of this detailed rundown of League of Legends betting sites, let’s take a look at some of the most frequently asked questions that we get about betting on this popular esport.

Yep, it certainly is – as long as you use a legal betting site. Every site that we mention is officially licensed and regulated, so you can be sure that all of the aforementioned bookies are legit, and if you want to double check, just take a look at the bottom of the desktop site or the ‘About Us’ section, where each betting site will generally advertise with which regulator they are signed up.

You can…as long as you fulfil the criteria required to bet in Australia at all, not just on League of Legends. Fortunately it’s pretty easy to know whether you pass the test. First off, double check that you’re at least 18 years of age. Yep? Now that you’ve ticked that one off, ask yourself – am I currently in Australia? If you see a roo hopping past, or a koala in a nearby tree, it’s safe to say you can bet in Australia, though if you’re just sitting at home in Melbourne or Sydney then you’re good to go too.

Sometimes. This one depends on which betting site you use. Some League of Legends betting sites don’t offer live betting for anything – unfortunately this is pretty common, largely because Australian regulations dictate that live bets must be placed over the phone and as a result it requires a few resources for bookies to implement it. But there are plenty of excellent live betting sites, and this typically extends to LoL live betting. If the betting site that you are using has both live betting and League of Legends markets available, then they will most likely have live League of Legends markets.
