TexBet has a level of experience which defies the fact that they have only been on the betting scene for a couple of years, with Terry O’Shea – who began the company with his son Wade – having been in the industry since way back in the 1970s.
It’s for that reason that it’s no great surprise that despite the fact that this is a relatively new bookmaker, they do plenty right. One of the first of these is their website and app. The website is easy to use and very aesthetically pleasing, and while in the past this was the only way to access TexBet’s services, an app has recently been released which is every bit as functional as the desktop site.
They also have pretty decent odds. They certainly aren’t the best that I’ve come across, but it’s not uncommon for new betting sites to have odds which make them hard to justify using when compared to the bigger bookies. TexBet’s odds, however, are very competitive with larger sites.
But while the odds you’ll get with TexBet Australia are pretty good, the range of sports and markets unfortunately doesn’t quite match up. For racing there is plenty available, but in terms of sports TexBet’s offering is a little limited, and among the sports that they do offer there are not the range of markets you find with other sites.
You also won’t be able to place bets on events once they’ve started, which you can now do on an increasing number of bookies. Live betting, as this is known, sees the odds adjust in real time as an event unfolds, but while plenty of bookies now offer this, TexBet has not yet added it to their arsenal.
This is mostly an issue for sports bettors – racing live betting is available sometimes but is less common, so this is another example of TexBet’s issues with their sports markets; not their racing one. The racing component of the site is in fact pretty comprehensive, complemented by TexBet TV, a live streaming platform which allows you to watch races as they unfold live on the site.
Finally, to a couple of drier topics in banking and customer support. TexBet offers a handful of payment methods – not a huge range, but those that they do offer are certainly enough for me, with credit/debit card – my preferred method – available.
In terms of customer support, they have conceived a pretty good platform. There is a phone number you can call if you need to get in touch, as well as an email address and live chat. The latter of these is my preferred way to get in contact with a bookie but isn’t always available, so its presence here is certainly appreciated by me!
TexBet Australia is far from perfect, but for a young bookmaker they do a pretty good job. If they can broaden their range of markets – which they may well do as they continue to grow – and add a live betting platform, they’ll be well placed to compete with the biggest players in the industry.
